Re: Red eye

Thanks hammer, that's interesting. I hope that the mist will go away :( But it's okay if my sight continues to be a bit less than it used to. I just want it to be healthy.

Another lesson learned, I should be careful with my ego and trying to play doctor myself :(

I went to the eyedoc (the reason I didn't go before is because I didn't know you could just go and let yourself get checked without getting ''permission'' from your doctor) I could've researched this though. I really hate myself for not doing that.

The eye doctor told me it's not Pink Eye, but something ''beyond'' it, he said... If I remember well he said something about eye pressure not being right or something. To try to fix that he gave me a tablet that I took in when I was there. He also said that it is inflammation and to fix that, he gave me Dexamethason ratiopharm. Three eyedrops a day.

I told him that I didn't understand, because all my symptoms matched the PinkEye symptoms... but he was sure it was not. He said "it's not Conjunctivitis''
He did look in my eyes of course and asked questions.

About Dexamethason I read "Do not use when you have an eye infection." ... I hope he's right and that I'm not dealing with an eye infection. Or I'm not really grasping the terms ''inflammation'' and ''infection''...

Thank you again for all your comments.

Re: Red eye

Oxijil, good idea to get a fresh tube of antibiotic ointment. The main thing is that it is sterile when you start using it. Always wash your hands before applying it and try not to contaminate the tip of the tube.

As for panopthalmitis...that is an inflammation of all the eye structures and is very painful. It's likely you had an mild iritis or uveitis hammer, as those can be treated with steroid drops. If it's all structures of the eye inflammed, you'd be in a world of hurt and likely taking high doses of antibiotics and steroids orally, just to keep from losing the eye! That condition is very serious and is in my book of TRUE ocular emergencies.

Keep us posted Oxiljil. Hope the ointment does the trick for you.

I went to the drugstore, but they said they aren't allowed to just give me antibiotic ointment. They said that I can only have it when the doctor prescribes it. And the eye doctor didn't. Instead he prescribed Dexamethason...

Re: Red eye

As long as you are under the care of an eye doctor Oxijil, I have confidence he properly diagnosed you. If it was an infection, he'd have given you an antibiotic. If it is an inflammation, then steroid drops are needed. If your eye pressure was elevated, then you should definatley have follow up appointments to closely moniter this. Inflammation is not always easy to treat and in many cases, the cause is not known.

Take care and I hope this clears up for you fast.

Re: Red eye

My apologize Oxajil, I've been mis-spelling your name thru out this post. :-[

Re: Red eye

Thank you LissyLou!
I was too terrified to read more about the condition after I had read somewhere that sometimes the eye can split in dogs if it isn't treated. Good to know it wasn't that bad after all! :)

Re: Red eye

Hey Oxajil, if it isn't improving. I wouldn't hesitate at going for a 'second opinion' by another doctor. Just to let you know in Rotterdam you have a hospital specialized in eye treatments. It's name is 'oogziekenhuis rotterdam' Just saying if that doctor is wrong it can turn ugly. And maybe that hospital stands better in there profession.

Take care

If I'm right, they indeed gave me steroid drops and an ointment. If you're interested, this is what they gave me: Ultracortenol Prednisolonpivalaat and timololmaleaat/timolol

It cleared up a little, my eye is not that red anymore and the pain also has decreased. I do feel much better. Thanks a lot for your input in this :)
The eyedoc also said that they have no idea what could be the cause.

(It's okay that you misspelled :))

Thank You bjorn! But fortunately I am seeing improvement. Also in my sight :-[ thankfully.

I've done a lot of pondering about this period and lots of love giving to my bodycells and my eye. Hopefully all will turn out well.

Re: Red eye

Hi Oxajil,

I'm happy to hear about your eye improvement :)

Louise Hay says that our eyes represent the capacity to see clearly, past, present and future. Perhaps this symbolical meaning will help shine a light in what you are currently processing. Eye problems may be related to not liking what you see in your own life. I don't know if this is your case or not, I'm just sharing this info from Louise Hay's book "You Can Heal Your Life", FWIW.

Re: Red eye

Hi Oxajil, Glad to hear that it's all improving, It must be such a relief to get your sight back to normal. Seems to be real scary if that happens. - Get well alright :)

Oxajil, I'm happy to hear you are improving!

Ahhh, Louise Hay. Thanks for reminding me of that Psyche! I also have that book, but it's been awhile since I last saw it. Now I'll have to search, is it here or overseas? This is always a source of frustration for me, not knowing where stuff is.

Re: Red eye

You all are too kind to me :)

Thank you so much. This is certainly interesting, because at the moment I'm noticing something that has occurred twice in my life and is occurring again. And due to my ability of not being able to Do what I want to do and not being able to truly See the situation as it is, I am Again experiencing the same as I have before. The signs are there, Very clear to see and yet I ignore them.

So now I'm trying to fix this issue ASAP and as externally considerate as possible. Dalai Lama said: : “When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.”

These days, the following words from the C's also have been going through my mind:

Lesson number 1: Always expect attack.
Lesson number 2: Know the modes of same.
Lesson number 3: Know how to counteract same.

It's not really an attack, but more like a ''trap'' or better: a situation in which I can ''easily'' make the wrong choices. I think I'll open a thread about it soon.
Not liking what I see in my own life, hmm.. yea that could be true in this depressive period I'm going through. Thank you Psyche.

Thank you bjorn and LissyLou :)

Re: Red eye

Today I went to the eyedoc.

Since the drops and ointment he prescribed me didn't take away the inflammation (but only the redness and some of the pain) he told me that maybe I could be dealing with Eye Herpes.

So now I still have to use his two types of drops 3 times (for the inflammation) and 2 times (for the eyepressure) a day. And furthermore he gave me an ointment ''Aciclovir'' (which I need to use 5 times a day) to treat this virus.

I'll see him again at friday. I'm curious to how this'll go!

Re: Red eye

Oxajil,

This is the second doctor who seems to be unable to look at your eye and know what is wrong. I do wish I could have a look. He's guessing it's Herpes Simplex?? He can't tell for sure? You may need another opthalmologist. Please take care in this matter. (May I ask, how old are you?)

Oh LissyLou, I wish you could check it out :( I can make a picture?
I've tried the ointment he prescribed and my eye has become red again. My friend at school even told me ''hey the red is back again''. It just doesn't feel right. Or does that mean that it works?

I'm going to call tomorrow morning about this and ask if I should continue using it.

Isn't it rude though if I tell him that I may need another opthalmologist?

I am twenty years old now. Whatever I use that he has prescribed doesn't work, well except for Pred forte, prednisolonacetaat and Oxylin, oxymetazoline. They take away the redness, but not really the cause. I've even tried colloidal silver and it also has little to no effect. :(

All little bits could help I think, so I'm going to increase my carrots intake and raw food...

Thank you for your input, it means a lot.

Edit: Yes he was guessing. It was very clear. In the beginning of all of this he asked me if there were any ''weird'' diseases in the family like rheumatism. And I replied by saying no. Then he asked me if I have cold sores now and then. Also no... (only that it does run in the family as my brother and mother have it) So then there was probably no reason for him to decide it's a virus, Herpes Simplex. Now that he saw that his anti-inflammation drugs don't entirely take the inflammation away he decided that it is a virus now. He also was nervously, kind of, looking something up in one of his books before he prescribed me this ointment. Sigh.
