Re: Red eye

Tears contain lysozymes (enzymes that tear down and destroy the cell wall of bacteria and I just read viruses too, although I'd want to read more to be sure). So bathing the eye in tears would be a good thing to fight off infection. I also recall learning in med school that emotional tears contain higher amounts of lysozymes (as opposed to just lubricating tears).

As for crying increasing intraocular pressure....the IOP fluctuates with the rise in venous pressure caused by crying and straining ... I've been trying to find more data on this, but I would think a gentle cry...would do little to increase the eye pressure. An intense cry, may have a noticeable effect on the pressure.

I will have to spend some time researching this....it'd be good to know.

when was the last time you cried over something emotional? does such a thing come easily for you, or not?

Just recently. I cry easily when I'm upset about something. I also hold it back, but sometimes just can't anymore.
I'm pretty sensitive.

That's okay Ailen, I appreciate your input, always.

Oh Al Today, I'm glad that healed up for you! I've heard about that, my aunt had it also once. I heard it was not a pleasant experience!

That is really interesting. I will do some researching as well. Thank You.

Thank you. Thing is the Blepharitis in my experience is I think to accept recurrence that can and does continue. The darn thing is always inside. Haven't ever figured out what would trigger a flare up nor found a sure fire suppressent or eradicator.
And I can get some real mean red eyes.

Re: Red eye

The eyedoc told me I should go on with Pred Forte (6 drops) a day, the antiviral ointment 2 times a day and 2 drops of timoptol a day. Also have to take the antiviral tablets 2x

If there is no improvement next week, then I'm going to do a blood test.

I've a question and I'm not sure if I should buy this; A Negative Ions and Far-Infrared Therapeutic Eye Pad

http://www.vicwell.com/home/en/therapeutic-eye-pad.html

I sent an e-mail for costs and it's pretty expensive. 600 dollars ~ 441,76 euros

They also said in the e-mail:

Our eye pad has been used many of our customers who have been suffering from eye infections and diseases. Many of them were (I used past tense here because they have been discharged by their own doctors now) and high blood pressures victims.

Shall I go for it? Maybe I could ask for some discount.

Btw: also did the Castor Oil Pack treatment and will do so again. It was pretty relaxing! Thanks.

Well, I used to think the same, but it has been months since the last time I've had any symptoms. I can't know for sure whether it is completely gone or not, but I think that the elimination diet was a very big contributor to eliminating foods that may trigger it.

When I went off the diet, I ate a few nuts. The following day I had blepharitis. I haven't had nuts since then, and it hasn't come back. Cooked tomatoes triggered it too, but then I stopped eating them for about 5 months. Last week I had a tiny amount, and the blepharitis didn't come back. So, it could be that it is a form of allergy, and that once you stop eating certain foods for a while, you become less sensitive to them with time. That food is not accumulated in your system anymore.

So, even if it is always there, perhaps there is a way to prevent it permanently. And washing your eyes with baby shampoo may help your eyes become more protected too. The heavy metal detox protocol may have something to do with it, but personally I haven't done it long enough for it to have a big effect. You may want to try it out.

Ailen, that is certainly one theory, but as I read your post, another occurred to me. Nuts are high in L-argenine which scavenges L-lysine which largely effect the inhibition of the replication of viruses. It may be that your immune system is stronger and your diet keeps your L-lysine levels more stabel. That whole coming and going thing sound like the MO of a virus that is active or inactive based on how strong the immune system is. Just a thought.

A blood test may shed some light on the cause of your inflammation. I wish I had the "magic bullet" that could take all this away for you. :(

This is the first time I have ever heard of such a thing. I have no idea if it would be helpful or how it works. I didn't find any scientific explanations at the web site either. Maybe someone more familiar with Far-Infared would have some ideas about this?

You're very welcome. I love castor oil packs, I find immediate relief. I had Bell's Palsy when I was 21 and when my immune system is weak, I have inflammation & dull pain in my 7th cranial nerve. Castor Oil Packs have been my main stay for this for well over 20 years.

Keep us posted Oxajil.

Thanks Lauranimal! That could certainly be an explanation. And it could also confirm the fact that when you do the elimination diet and you stay away from the foods you are intolerant to for three months or more, your body becomes stronger and then you can take those foods back once in a while without suffering any side effects (if you consume them in small quantities). If I remember correctly, that is better explained in The Ultra Simple Diet.

Hi Oxajil,

We were thinking about DMSO for your eye problem here: http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=17014.msg150607#msg150607 :flowers:

Re: Red eye

Hi,

I would like to share an update. The virus is still there, but there are improvements.

2 weeks ago they took some blood to see what could be the cause. I went to an internist for this. They also made a picture of my lungs.
Today I went again for the results and the results were that I have an extreme low amount of vit. D in my body. So he has prescribed me vit. D tablets.
They also found two small malfunctions in the liver. To check that out they took another blood sample. I also have an appointment next week for an echo for my liver.
My lungs are fine.

All these finds could have nothing to do with the virus, but it's the only lead they got at the moment to research further.

Re: Red eye

Sorry for being a lil' selfish in these times. Thought I'd give a small update.

Just went today for an echo, so they could check out my liver. They said everything was fine!

I've also bought Mariadistel/Milkthistle pills which contain Silybum marianum that helps my liver out, just to be sure!

I'll make an appointment tomorrow with the internist to talk further about the results and also will be talking with him about the (yet unknown) results of the blood samples they took.

Re: Red eye

I went to the eyedoc today and the virus in my eye is not visible anymore. However the virus is in there, near a nerve he said and always will be, it's like a cold sore virus.
He told me that it could "come out" in for example times of stress.

My sight has improved also.

The virus left a pretty big scar on my cornea. I hope it won't come back anymore! Now I just need to slow down with the medication and drops.

Re: Red eye

Oxajil, I am happy to hear your vision is improving! Hopefully you can keep your immune system strong and stay stress free so it won't reactivate. It is tough to treat this virus when it attacks the eye. Keep detoxing and stay strong!
