Putin to Declassify Documents That Bear Some "Very Interesting Names"

http://www.fort-russ.com/2016/04/putin-to-declassify-documents-that-bear.html

The Russian President said that he has decided to declassify many archival documents, and that he will sign the decree today. And it was signed. Here: http://kremlin.ru/

And he quietly added: "This, as far as I know, according to the information from archive agencies, concerns the period from 1930 to 1989. In these documents there are cases, excuse me, of snitches as well as the innocently repressed, with very interesting names, some documents will surprise society..."

GEOPOLITICS OF CORRUPTION: GEORGE SOROS AND THE PANAMA LEAKS

http://katehon.com/article/geopolitics-corruption-george-soros-and-panama-leaks

The largest corruption scandal has shaken the planet. The American International Consortium of Investigative Journalists published more than 2.6 terabytes of data and 11.5 million secret documents from the Panamanian company Mossack Fonseca; this is several times greater than Wikileaks. The Panama Papers leak, according to whistleblowers, accuses prominent politicians of using offshore schemes, and thus indirectly indicates the presence of corruption within a large part of the world's political elite. The investigation materials refer to the president of Russia Vladimir Putin, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Ukrainian and Azerbaijani Presidents Poroshenko and Aliyev, and even Saudi King Salman, and this is only a few of the names on the list.

The work of the special services

The scale of the published information indicates that this is the fruit of the work of not only "independent journalists", but also state or large private intelligence corporations. If this is so, then the new scandal has specific geopolitical objectives. Due to the large number of published documents, checking their authenticity is not possible in the short term, which means that they are open to manipulation, especially in the media sphere.

Compromising the system’s enemies

The most frequently mentioned person affected by the scandal in the Western media is, of course, Vladimir Putin. The damaging information against the Russian president is a direct attack by the ruling circles of the West, and a tool of pressure against the President and a significant part of the Russian elite. They are forcing Russia to renounce an independent foreign policy, using the "exposure" and media hype around them as a tool. It is significant that the "independent journalists" also rushed to publish damaging material against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and President of South Africa Jacob Zuma. The West is leading a direct war against the former, and is trying to oust the latter because of his pro-Russian and pro-Chinese stance.

Pressure on the puppets

But if Putin's name is not mentioned in the published documents, and if the "evidence" gathered against the Russian president is indirect, two other post-Soviet leaders, Ilham Aliyev and his family, and Petro Poroshenko, are mentioned directly. It is significant that on the eve of the publication of the material, Aliyev, during his visit to the United States, decided to launch a war in Nagorno-Karabakh. Coincidence? I do not think so. Aliyev and Poroshenko’s inclusion in the Panama Papers is a sign that the West now holds the leadership of these countries on a short leash.

Strange Company

Let's see who else appears in the published documents; the list is very interesting. There are Saudi King Salman, the current pro-American President of Argentina Mauricio Macri, as well as former presidents of the country Cristina and Nestor Kirchner, who on the contrary were against US hegemony, the father of British Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron, the former Emir of Qatar and current President of the United Arab Emirates, the former Prime Minister of China, and several other large Chinese officials. At first glance, it is strange company; who is the major global player in the world who is playing against them all? This is not the pattern of US intelligence, or rather, not only the US intelligence services. This person has to be globally influential, anti-Russia and anti-Putin, anti-China, must project negative sentiments towards authoritarian Arab monarchies and right liberals such as Cameron and left-liberals like Macri. Someone very much like George Soros.

Journalists employed by Soros

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists is a project of the American liberal Non-Governmental Organization Center for Public Integrity. It is the largest American non-profit organization that is dedicated to investigative journalism. In 1996, it launched a campaign against paleo-conservative US presidential candidate Patrick Buchanan, which was performed by Soros to force his withdrawal from the electoral campaign. Among the official sponsors of independent journalists: "Open Society" Foundation (Soros Foundation), Sunlight Foundation (receives most of their funding from Soros), the MacArthur Foundation, Knight Foundation, Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Carnegie Endowment, Omidyar Network of the founder of eBay - ultra-liberal and globalist Pierre Omidyar etc.

The United States Center for Public Integrity and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists participate in a multi-year media war, which Soros launched against the Koch-brothers, billionaires associated with right-wing Republican circles. Periodically, during the campaign, Soros’ journalists were convicted of outright fraud, violating US law, and distorting facts.

The nature of the majority of exposés of the Consortium of Investigative Journalists shows that this structure primarily serves as a propaganda tool in the hands of Soros. For example, see the anti-Koch brothers and EU leadership-directed Luxembourg leaks. After Soros started the game against the Swiss franc, “independent journalists” investigated "money laundering" in Swiss banks.

Interestingly, Heinz Endowments, headed by wife of US Secretary of State Teresa Heinz Kerry, was previously listed as a sponsor of both structures. Soros once financed her husband when he was a candidate for the post of US President (as well as Obama and Hillary Clinton today). So, the connection between the current administration and the financial speculator is very strong. Do you remember Kerry’s mysterious suitcase at his recent visit to Moscow?

In alliance with the US Department of State

The list of the world leaders that have fallen out of favor shows that the offshore scandal is the result of a public-private partnership. All persons involved are Soros’ opponents, but when they are also the US’ geopolitical enemies, the most serious charges are put forward. On the contrary, in the case of Cameron and Macri, it implicates their family business, and at first glance is not related to their work as leaders of their respective countries. Liberal Left figures associated with Soros himself, who actively use offshore companies for financial speculation, do not appear anywhere on the lists.

When Soros bought Kerry, and is currently buying Hillary Clinton, massively investing in their campaign budgets, or gives money to the US Democratic party, it is not considered corruption as well as dark schemes that liberal politicians use worldwide.

To depoliticize the world

Interestingly, the new revelation of the century is directed primarily against the politicians. In essence, it massively discredits the global political class as such. The liberal ideology of Soros’ "Open Society" aids the rejection of politics; it is replaced by economic transactions and deals. The final barrier, in some cases a barrier to the establishment of the power of money, is liquidated. That is why Soros, for example, is funding leftist movements directed against the political establishment across the world, and the aforementioned Pierre Omidyar, another sponsor of the Consortium of Investigative Journalists, has put forward the project of a post-political world.

Poor president of iceland. He reacted to that interview trap pretty much how I would expect a decent person to react, towards sneaky journalists, who's only agenda is to maneuver you into a sandtrap with every question.

Obviously the PTB don't like how the icelandic government has reacted to the banking scandal: Convicting the responsible bankers and putting them into prison and making them responsible.

And many people in Iceland protested today because of the released paper and demand his resignation, with that the pill was swallowed by the people. And the Premier declared today his resignation also. It's a shame that good people get kicked out that way.

Stumbled on Keiser report's video today where Stacy gives a concise and poignant little report regarding the Putin issue and the leak overall (Ignore Keiser :D) : _https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gohIJeHIK_k&feature=youtu.be

I guess you may be right. The most recent article from the independent UK (no papers are great imo).

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/iceland-prime-minister-sigmundur-dav-o-gunnlaugsson-quits-over-panama-papers-tax-haven-scandal-a6969911.html said:
[released an hour ago]

The Prime Minister of Iceland has resigned after the Panama Papers revealed that he has been using an offshore firm to allegedly hide investments worth millions of pounds.

Prime Minister Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson's resignation follows intense pressure in Iceland after he was named in the leaked documents which apparently reveal tax evasion attempts. Yesterday, thousands of locals surrounded the Icelandic parliament to demand that Mr Gunnlaugsson resign as head of the coalition government. Opposition parties had called for a vote of no confidence against the politician, saying he had lost all public trust following the scandal. He initially denied any wrong doing but reportedly resigned this afternoon amid mounting pressure.

The Panama Papers are a huge cache of leaked files which name individuals allegedly linked with a law firm which specialises in shell companies for the purposes of avoiding tax payments.

Mr Gunnlaugsson is one of dozens of leaders of former leaders around the world to be named in the documents and is the first major figure to resign following the revelations. Leading officials in Russia, Ukraine, China, Argentina and other major countries have also been named.

He is accused of setting up a ‘shell company’ along with his wife in the British Virgin Islands with the help of a Panamanian law firm. The company, which was based in the British Virgin Islands, is worth millions of pounds.
World leaders linked to 'Panama Papers'

There is no suggestion that he has acted illegally by his involvement in the scheme. However, critics have suggested that it amounts to a conflict of interest. The documents suggest that while Mr Gunnlaugsson was overseeing negotiations with the creditors of Icelandic banks, his company was owed considerable sums from their bankruptcies.

Gunnlaugsson has denied any wrongdoing and insists that he and his wife have paid all appropriate taxes.

He insists his financial holdings didn't affect his negotiations with Iceland's creditors during the country's acute financial crisis.

Iceland, which has a population of just 330,000, suffered under prolonged austerity following the economic crash and as a result there is considerable anti-establishment feeling and frustration towards people perceived as not paying their fair share of tax.

A replacement Prime Minister has not yet been named.

I can understand how he may react to being hounded by a journalist, but i guess if he was innocent, why not just state the facts, then leave. He comes across as quite emotional. Maybe my projection. Maybe he had a bad day or just isn't so cut out with the media.

Also, just to note, that video was on twitter almost immediate after the leaks and quite popular.

Either way, if correct, and he is innocent, that's the first causality for tptb.

Whatever the guilt of the Icelandic PM, I really do hope he will settle the allegations of corruption in the Icelandic legal courts. I think his resignation may have been the best step, since the critical mass achieved by the Icelandic public protests could make the country ungovernable from a practical point of view. I suppose this is the dark side of populist democracy... at least when they forget the proper legal procedures for proving corruption.

What I find so interesting is that Putin & Co. knew well in advance that this nonsense was coming and announced it. That's some serious intel.

I agree, but as soon as his innocence is proven. Those same people who demanded him to resign better march to bring him back in office. If they have the right sense of morality at least.

Btw, Iceland has a population of 300.000. 22.000 Icelanders gathered to protest. Meaning around 7% showed up. Now imagine if this ever happened in the US. That would account to 22 million people if I am not mistaken.

If 22 million Americans ever had the conscience and will to protest against the US regime. World peace would be easily in reach.

My thoughts exactly! How the heck did they know what the elites were gonna do? Is there someone informing to Russia, or do they have surveillance? And was that announcement in itself a message to the West that "we know what you're going to do, so don't think you can surprise us"? Either way, all very intriguing!

Very interesting timing for the leakage of information, because April 19th China gets control of setting the Gold Price via the Shanghai gold exchange, link:

That's what I was thinking about, I guess you have to be quite clever in order to be able to read the situation, maybe at some point, the amount of resources that have to be moved to set up the worldwide campaign cause ripples that get picked up by intelligence. Either direct intelligence or people who'd inform them.

Also, this kind of "corruption" attack has been going on for a while, think of the whole FIFA scandal, then Brazil (BRICS country) which is in a political crisis that has the looks of a coup that has the same flavor "corruption scandal" , to me it was safe to assume that they'd try the same with Russia and China eventually. I can only imagine the kind of information that Russian intelligence has acces to that never makes the news.

Another thing I wanted to mention was that at some point this could back fire, Mauricio Macri, Argentinian president has been affected quite badly by this leak. Macri has been the US boy in latinamerica since his election in December 2015, undoing everything his predecessor achieved in terms of sovereignty for the country and the region. Giving power back to his buddies in corporations and realigning the country with western interests. His name has been linked to (so far) two companies in Panama.

So it could either back fire or they don't care who takes a fall so long as their main target is hit. My two cents

Dance to the Panama Papers 'Limited Hangout' Leak
http://www.telesurtv.net/english/opinion/Dance-to-the-Panama-Papers-Limited-Hangout-Leak-20160405-0036.html

Calling out around the world; time to put on your made in Ecuador Panama hat and frantically start dancing to the ultimate limited hangout leak.

And if you believe in the purity of intentions of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) at the center of the leak, I’ve got a made in Shenzhen Panama hat to sell you (disclosure: I never was, and never will be, a member of the ICIJ).

The Washington-based ICIJ gets its cash and its "organizational procedure" via the Exceptionalistan-based, Orwellian-named Center for Public Integrity. The funds flow mostly from the Ford Foundation, the Carnegie Endowment, the Rockefeller Family Fund, the Kellogg Foundation and the George Soros-owned Open Society.

Then there is Eastern Europe-based partner organization OCCRP, an even more Orwellian outfit self-styled as playing some sort of progressive, alternative media role. OCCRP is funded by Soros and USAID.

And finally there’s this fictional land named – a certified U.S. vassal. Absolutely nothing of real substance happens in Panama without a green light by the United States government. Or, as an international tax lawyer told me, “you have to be an idiot to stash money in Panama. You cannot flush a toilet there without the Americans knowing about it.”

This sets the scene for the Panama Papers leak – a massive hoard of 11.5 million documents allegedly leaked from someone inside offshore heavies Mossack Fonseca to the center-left, NATO-friendly Suddeutsche Zeitung newspaper in Munich and then shared by the ICIJ with selected mainstream media partners.

Even without a smoking gun, a case can be made this alleged most massive leak ever was obtained by – what else – U.S. intel. This is the kind of stuff the NSA excels at. The NSA is able to break into virtually any database and/or archives anywhere; they steal “secrets;” and then selectively destroy/blackmail/protect assets and “enemies,” according to USG interests.

That’s the essence of a limited hangout sold to public opinion as a serious corruption investigation. And that’s where Western corporate media enters the scene, protecting whatever 0.00000001 percent honcho is caught in the net, as well as sacrificing some disposable pawns.

So we have over 300 reporters pouring over hundreds of thousands of document/files for over an interminable year with, miraculously, no leaks whatsoever; just for a bunch of corporate mainstream media hacks meticulously cherry picked stories and decide what is “newsworthy." Western alternative media would have investigated the data without sparing anyone; but it would be out of the question to grant them access.

What’s already certain is that the full extent of the Panama leak will never be known. Even the by now exceedingly pathetic The Guardian admitted, on the record, that "much of the leaked material will remain private". Why? Because it may – inadvertently and directly – implicate a gaggle of Western 0.00000001 percent multibillionaires and corporations. All of them play the offshore casino game (although not necessarily in Panama.)

So the Panama Papers, stripped to the bone, may reveal themselves essentially as an infowar operation by the NSA – targeted mostly against “enemies” (as in the BRICS nations) and selected disposable pawns; a weaponized psyops posing as an 'activist leak', straight from the Hybrid War playbook. Wikileaks verses ICIJ?

Shots Fired: Wikileaks Accuses Panama Papers' Leaker Of Being "Soros-Funded, Soft-Power Tax Dodge"
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-04-05/shots-fired-wikileaks-accuses-panama-papers-leaker-being-soros-funded-soft-power-tax

Earlier today, for the first time we got a glimpse into some of the American names allegedly contained in the "Panama Papers", largest ever leak. "Some", not all, and "allegedly" because as we said yesterday, "one can't help but wonder: why not do a Wikileaks type data dump, one which reveals if not all the 2.6 terabytes of data due to security concerns, then at least the identities of these 441 US-based clients. After all, with the rest of the world has already been extensively shamed, it's only fair to open US books as well."

The exact same question appeared in an interview conducted between Wired magazine and the director of the organization that released the Panama Papers, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, or ICIJ, Gerard Ryle.

This is what Ryle said:

Ryle says that the media organizations have no plans to release the full dataset, WikiLeaks-style, which he argues would expose the sensitive information of innocent private individuals along with the public figures on which the group’s reporting has focused. “We’re not WikiLeaks. We’re trying to show that journalism can be done responsibly,” Ryle says. He says he advised the reporters from all the participating media outlets to “go crazy, but tell us what’s in the public interest for your country.”

Question aside about who it is that gets to decide which "innocent private individuals" are to be left alone, Wikileaks clearly did not like being characterized as conducting "irresponsible" journalism - and to the contrary, many in the public arena have called for another massive, distributed effort to get to the bottom of a 2.4TB treasure trove of data which a handful of journalists will simply be unable to dig through - and moments ago, on Twitter, accused the ICIJ of being a "Washington DC based Ford, Soros funded soft-power tax-dodge" which "has a WikiLeaks problem."

Moments later, in a subsequent tweet it added that the "Putin attack was produced by OCCRP which targets Russia & former USSR and was funded by USAID & Soros."

And so, a new contest is born: one between the "old" source of mega leaks, and the new one. We wonder if and when Edward Snowden and/or Glenn Greenwald will also chime in.

But we are far more interested if now, that there appears to be a war brewing between Wikileaks and ICIJ, who what "information" will be released next, and whether whatever comes out will put the entire Panama Papers project in a different perspective, one which, as even Bloomberg has hinted, may have been to benefit the last remaining global tax haven around, the United States itself, as well as the most notorious provider of "tax haven" services in in said country: Rothschild.

Icelandic investigative journalist and WikiLeaks spokesperson Kristinn Hrafnsson has called for the Panama Papers to be published in full online.

Panama Papers: WikiLeaks' Kristinn Hrafnsson calls for data leak to be released in full (Video)
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/panama-papers/panama-papers-wikileaks-kristinn-hrafnsson-calls-for-data-leak-to-be-released-in-full-34601909.html

Governments around the world are scrambling to contain the fallout from the publication of thousands of names of rich and powerful people who conducted offshore financial activity through Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca.

Mr Hrafnsson, who worked on the ‘Cablegate’ leak of diplomatic documents in 2010, suggested the withholding of documents is understandable to maximise the impact, but said that in the end the papers should be published in full for the public to access.

He told RT's Afshin Rattansi on Going Underground: "When they are saying this is responsible journalism, I totally disagree with the overall tone of that.

"I do have a sympathy to stalled releases, we certainly did that in WikiLeaks in 2010 and 2011 with the Diplomatic Cables… but in the end the entire cache was put online in a searchable database.

"That is what I’d want to see with these Panama Papers, they should be available to the general public in such a manner so everybody, not just the group of journalists working on the data, can search it."

The reports are from a global group of news organisations working with the Washington-based International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).

The consortium have been processing the legal records from the Mossack Fonseca law firm that were first leaked to the German Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper.

Shell companies are not necessarily illegal. People or companies might use them to reduce their tax bill legally, by benefiting from low tax rates in countries like Panama, the Cayman Islands and Bermuda.

But the practice is frowned upon, particularly when used by politicians, who then face criticism for not contributing to their own countries' economies.

Because offshore accounts and companies also hide the names of the ultimate owners of investments, they are often used to illegally evade taxes or launder money.

Presenter Rattansi mentions that the ICIJ is funded by the Ford Foundation, the Carnegie Endowment think tank, the Rockefellers and George Soros.

Asked if he is surprised that there has been "no big American names released - so far" Mr Hrafnsson said: "It seems to be skewed away from American interests. American companies are only a third of British companies there.

"You have to keep in mind this one law firm in Panama servicing, providing tax haven companies mostly out of the British Virgin Islands - so it doesn't give the entire picture."

The full interview airs Wednesday at 11:30am on Going Underground on RT and can be viewed later on the RT website.

Panama Papers fallout

UK

In the UK David Cameron has sought to distance himself from the row over the Panama Papers data leak, with Downing Street insisting the Prime Minister's family "do not benefit from any offshore funds".

The Prime Minister himself declared he had "no shares, no offshore trusts, no offshore funds" after his late father Ian's tax affairs were highlighted in the document disclosure.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn dismissed suggestions by Downing Street that the family's tax arrangements were a "private" matter and called for an independent investigation into those implicated by the records.

But Mr Cameron sidestepped calls for a probe and declined to say if his family had reaped the rewards of an offshore arrangement in the past or were likely to in the future.

The Prime Minister was asked to confirm that "you and your family have not derived any benefit in the past and will not in the future" from the offshore fund set up by Ian Cameron, referred to in the papers leaked from Panama law firm Mossack Fonseca.

During a visit to Birmingham Mr Cameron said: "In terms of my own financial affairs, I own no shares. I have a salary as Prime Minister and I have some savings, which I get some interest from, and I have a house, which we used to live in, which we now let out while we are living in Downing Street, and that's all I have.

"I own no shares, no offshore trusts, no offshore funds, nothing like that. And so that, I think, is a very clear description."

Iceland

Meanwhile Iceland's embattled prime minister Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson has resigned amid controversy over his offshore holdings as outrage over the accounts angered the North Atlantic island nation.

Mr Gunnlaugsson is stepping down as leader of the country's coalition government, Agriculture Minister Sigurdur Ingi Johannsson told Icelandic broadcaster RUV.

No replacement has yet been named, and Iceland's president has not yet confirmed that he has accepted the resignation.

China

China dismissed as "groundless" reports that relatives of current and retired politicians, including President Xi Jinping, own offshore companies. The state media are ignoring the reports, and search results for the words "Panama documents" have been blocked on websites and social media.

China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said he would not discuss the reports further and declined to say whether the individuals named would be investigated.

"For these groundless accusations, I have no comment," Hong told reporters at a regularly scheduled news conference.

Ukraine

Ukraine's president was accused of abusing his office and of tax evasion by moving his candy business offshore, possibly depriving the country of millions of dollars in taxes.

Pakistan

Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced he would set up an independent judicial commission to probe whether his family was involved in illegal overseas investments.

Algeria

In Algeria, a company that manages the finances of the industry minister says he is linked to an offshore firm created in Panama, but says its activities are frozen while he is serving in the government.

French newspaper Le Monde reported that Abdessalam Bouchouareb runs a Panamanian company called Royal Arrival Corp., prompting accusations that he is hiding assets abroad and evading taxes.

Contacted by The Associated Press, Bouchouareb declined to comment, referring to a statement released by his Luxembourg-based financial management company CEC.

The statement says CEC created Royal Arrival Corp. to manage Bouchouareb's assets, but when the minister learned about the new company, he ordered its activities frozen as long as he is in the government. Royal Arrival Corp. "has never been active in any country," the statement says.

Russia

A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin says he is the "main target" of the media investigation into offshore accounts, but that he is not implicated in any wrongdoing.

Mr Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov says "it's obvious that the main target of such attacks is our president", and claimed that the publication was aimed at influencing Russia's stability and parliamentary elections scheduled for September.

Mr Peskov said international media had wrongly focused on Mr Putin instead of other world politicians, even though he was not implicated in any wrongdoing, and suggested the Washington-based International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, a key player in the publication, had ties to the US government.
