Photos and videos of our amazing 2D residents

Watched and listened to a tiny goldcrest singing in the garden the other day, something this -

Goldcrests vie with the similar-looking firecrest as being the smallest bird in Europe weighing about 5.5 grams and around 3 and a 1/2 inches long.

Some years ago a pair attempted to nest in a conifer tree in the garden. I spent ages trying to locate it - bird books say it's usually situated high up on an outer branch. However, this pair had chosen to build the nest about 18 inches off the ground (obviously they had't seen the literature!) Subsequently, the local cat easily found it, killed the sitting bird and pulling the nest over on to the ground. I retrieved some of the dislodged eggs and nest and took this following record shot to show the marvelous construction and minuscule eggs:

I love all creatures and the one with the spider is so awesome, what a cutie! these snakes are stun-ning! I have recently been planning some new ethnic style rope necklaces and these snakes look like the perfect type of fabric that I would choose, with small repeating patterns and bright colours.....nature is just sublime! Thank you for posting!

Birds singing in the morning in the Stockholm suburbs

We sometimes have a whole concerto going off, (sometimes even in middle of the night at times). This is what it sounded like at my balcony, was the light started to get orange-red, while listening to the birds. I really love to live in the suburbs instead of the city... It is such a treat with all the surrounding green and the birds.

How 'prescient' of you to bring us this as I've been on and off contemplating the purpose of having dogs/ role they may play in our lives, beyond the obvious companionship. Considering the millenias of history we share, with them as part of our households (similar but different to horses who are an ancient companion as well) there must be some deeper purpose to it.

Also, thinking about their origins and why were they first 'engineered', and how much of a role we may be playing in creation by breeding them opens up some interesting possibilities and deeper ties to our journeys as humans. Purely speculation on my part but may have some validity in exploring.

Thank you for this. I'm looking forward to watching and sharing with friends and family.

Good idea to share this little video. And good luck if you look for a companion. They are the best!
