Pictures of your Christmas Tree

Thank you everyone for sharing your lovely and creative trees! That is so uplifting and all the stories connected to it are just what this season needs.

As we are not traveling to Germany to see our families, we treated ourselves to a bigger a tree and set it up earlier this year to enjoy it. Many of the ornaments are from my family, we already had them in the late 70s / 80s. When I grew up my mother would decorate the tree on the 24th (in Germany Christmas Eve is the main thing) while we kids went to watch a Christmas movie at the cinema in the morning. The living room was closed off until evening. In the afternoon we would go to church for the nativity play and afterwards my parents would light the candles and we would gather in the living room. But then we would sit down for dinner and had to wait until afterwards to unwrap presents. We never went overboard with presents in our family, we would take turns, unwrapping one present at a time, sharing the excitement and stretching it out. Wich is a torture when you are a child but I love to do the same as an adult. I am very grateful for the Christmas memories my parents created for us. It is still my favorite season of the year and it never lost its particular magic. And with the world, as it is today, I enjoy coming back to all this so much and am now in full Christmas mood. Now let's just hope the dog doesn't chase the cat in the living room.

Merry Christmas everyone, and I hope for an extra serving of that soothing Christmas spirit for everyone (cookies may hep!).

We didn't find any real trees for sale in the end.. I wonder if everyone's had such a sad year they went out and bought them all to cheer themselves up.. Ah well, we set up the old artificial one tonight. I think it's about 25 years old, and a few of the decorations are more than 60!

These natural warm yellow/un-tinted lights lots of you have on your trees are beautiful, I gotta get some!

We've got our Caesarmas tree up now. It may look taller than it appears but that's because it's on top of a small table to discourage the kitties from trying any shennanigans. In fact, if you look carefully, you can see Gaston in the bottom right of the photo pretending he's not interested in it... :-P
Gaston looks like a chubby penguin looking for mischief! Nice tree guys!

It's lovely to see everyone's trees, thank you all for sharing, and @gottathink for starting this! I hope it becomes a tradition.

This year we got a small tree in a pot, hoping to plant it the first day of the new year. Fingers crossed that it survives 🤞

I've been collecting the ornaments since we moved to this country/house, so the older will be 6-7 years old.

Lovely pictures everyone! 😊

It's really nice to see how some things are always able to bring people closer together, even if just for some brief but valuable moments, despite of all of the challenges we face today as well as of all the differences that drive us apart.

Anyways, thanks to everyone for sharing your beautiful Christmas decorations and please allow me to reciprocate in kind by sharing a little pic of the decorations adorning my own family's living room this year:

Full disclosure: All credits are due to my loving mother who is the one who usually takes care, for the largest part, of any such decorations. 😉 Some credits are also due to our friendly next door neighbor though who, being a a retired carpenter, took care of putting together the nearly live-sized hut! 😄

Despite of all the surprises that are surely still to come, I wish everyone here only the very best for this still shortly ongoing year as well as for the new year that will soon be upon us. May our shared connection give us strength and protection through these challenging times, and may we all continue to be blessed with the gift of acquired, applied and shared knowledge. So, keep your spirits up fellow brave adventurers, seekers and discoverers as there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, even if at times the tunnel may be so bended and twisted that the light might seem completely gone. We are never truly/completely alone but we also need to make sure to have our wits about us to be able to reach out for help/support/assistance whenever we feel genuinely lost! :hug2:

The intention placed in these trees or similar adornments is nice and admirable. All posted photos are beautiful, so, thanks all you for sharing the good spirit that I am sure goes along with these ones.

A traditional Christmas tree I long don’t have since my days as a kid when, alone but gladly, I used to decorate a tree for all my family and friends. That time is gone. To me now all days carry the Christ-mas spirit, and “my Christ-mas tree” are all those perennial trees that I seeded and planted with my hands and sweet —which literally are hundreds or more. But I regard like “Christ-mas tree” also those wild ones be them in the wilderness or in parks. As I see it, the true ornament of those natural trees is the magnificence that they show on themselves. I really like much them, they touch my heart.

And at last it is my hope that the true Christ-mas spirit be the STO orientation that increasing grows within each of us, and for ever. :-) 🎄 🔔

I haven't caught up with this thread, but making it a good Christmas and getting into the holiday spirit has been on my mind. Last year was really good, because we had a white Christmas, and I had bought a guitar and we did Christmas carols with the lyrics on the TV. This year there are some family issues going on so I'll just have to do my best. I thought this might be helpful:

50 Ways to Have a More Old Fashioned Family Christmas

You are here: Home / Celebrations / 50 Ways to Have a More Old Fashioned Family Christmas

Most of us would agree that Christmas has become the opposite of what it is supposed to be, a time of joy, celebration and family turned into a stressful few weeks that at least some of use wish would never come at all.
Most of us just wish we could go back to celebrating Christmas the way it used to be celebrated, and that we could bring back the time when Christmas was all about simple celebrations, family and honoring the real reasons for the season.
It seems easier said than done, and all too easy to get caught up in the commercial trap that Christmas has become. Perhaps this list of ways to have a more old fashioned family Christmas will inspire you to put the joy back into your Christmas celebrations.
Having a more old fashioned family Christmas does take time and effort, it means being willing to spend time making rather than buying and spending time with family rather than providing a gift overload.

Spend Less Money

1) Set a Budget for Christmas – one that you can afford and stick to it.
2) Make Cookies and Goodies Instead of Buying Them – use them for gifts as well
3) Make as Many of Your Gifts as Possible- if you do not know how to sew, perhaps you can make birdhouses or birdfeeders, there are thousands of ideas online for gifts that require no skill and are affordable to make or Try these books from Amazon –

4) Give Less Gifts-Stop looking at the lists, and the area under the tree and thinking it is not enough. Set a limit on the number of gifts you buy and stick to it. Give the gift of time and love instead.
5) Invite Fewer People – Nobody says your home has to be the party of the year , every year. Nor do you need to host the entire family for Christmas and make everything yourself. It is ok to set limits on guests, spending and the amount of time and stress you are willing to invest.
6) Make Your Own Christmas Cards – Paper, glue, glitter, crayons, pens or paint is all you need to create beautiful handmade cards.
7) Stay Home – Do not plan long trips at the holidays, it makes them more stressful and expensive. You will find your holiday to be less expensive and more relaxing if you just stay home for the holidays.
8) Have a Gift Exchange – Christmas gifts are really for the kids, but we all love getting a gift or two under the tree so hold an exchange among the adults in your family.
9) Make Your Own Decorations – Save money and make your home look old fashioned, by making all of your own decorations. Paper chains, salt dough ornaments, bows, candles, popcorn and cranberries, all of these were used back before Christmas became so commercial to decorate homes. Decorate Your Home With Vintage Decorations and Bake Old Fashioned Treats

1) Most kids today probably have never had homemade popcorn balls, taffy or candy, take the time to share your old fashioned favorites and family traditions with your kids.
2) Make your own Egg Nog
3) Teach your kids how to make Snow Candy
4) Look for vintage decorations at estate sales or second hand stores
5) Make your own ornaments, from popcorn garlands to sprayed or painted pine cones decorated with glitter, hang unshelled walnuts, or tie simple red ribbons on your tree.
6) Decorate outdoor trees, hang apples and other treats for the wildlife, and string some popcorn outdoors for the birds.
7) Make paper chains, one year my daughter and I cut out strip after strip, decorated them with stamps, paint and glitter then stapled them together to make long paper chains. She has never forgotten that and wants to do it every year.
8) Tie bows on the trees outside as well as around your house; this is an inexpensive activity with a very old fashioned twist.
9) Making your own wrapping paper – use newsprint or butcher paper, paint, stamp or decorate to make your own wrapping paper. Shopping bags are great for re-purposing as well.
10) Have a cookie decorating party; this is something we try to do every year. Get the decorations out, and get the whole family together. Serve eggnog and see which person can make the most creative cookie!

Here is my Christmas tree.
The Christmas Dino and the Christmas Croissant haven't made it. It was the courtesy of my teenage daughter a couple of years ago. My son find them hilarious and he kept them with his toys. I welcomed his choice. Honestly, who wants a Christmas Croissant on the tree??
