Pedro Granados Ramírez, head of the Civil Protection Coordination of the Government of Tamaulipas, affirmed that the official letter presented by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) at a press conference is false, with which he assured that a fire of 30 hectares of grassland in the municipality of Padilla was the cause of the blackout that affected 12 states and 10.3 million users.
"We were surprised to see that there is a statement, supposedly originating from the Tamaulipas Civil Protection, where it is said that there is an action in the attention of that fire that is said to be the cause of a mega blackout," said the state official in an interview with the newspaper El Financiero.
Likewise, Granados Ramírez clarified that at no time, neither elements of the State Coordination of PC, nor of the municipality of Padilla, participated in the supposed fire of 38 hectares of pasture.
In addition, the state official said he did not know who could have generated the document presented, "but what we are clear is that it was not us," stating that even the signature of Emmanuel González Márquez, coordinator of Municipalities of Civil Protection of Tamaulipas, does not correspond to the real one.
"There are many other characteristics of that statement such as schedules, units that supposedly participated, the actions that were supposedly carried out, the trade number, the logos, nothing to see, it is not our document, I do not know who could have done it," he explained. Granados Ramírez.
The Civil Protection Coordinator of said entity indicated that after hearing the news at the CFE press conference, he communicated with the Civil Protection Directorate in the municipality of Padilla, as with González Márquez, confirming that they had not participated in any the alleged facts.
Granados Ramírez also said that the strong winds that were registered by cold front number 23 could cause fires in various parts of the state, however, he pointed out that in the one indicated in the aforementioned press conference, they did not participate in their containment.
In a previous press conference, yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, December 29, the CFE reported that a fire in 30 hectares of grasslands in the municipality of Padilla, on the shore of federal highway 85 Victoria-Monterrey, caused the operation of two transmission lines in 400 kV.
These are located between Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, and Linares, Nuevo León (where the Lajas and Güémez substations are located), which supposedly caused the imbalance in the National Electric System (SEN), which left 10.3 million users without electricity. in the country.
“Upon detecting the fire, the local Civil Protection was notified. Due to the meteorological conditions that caused strong winds, the fire spread and as a result two lines went out of service ”, said Noé Peña Silva, director of CFE Transmission.
"[The fire] is the beginning of the event we had yesterday [Monday, December 28] and what caused it is something fortuitous based on this perfectly detected fire," emphasized Peña Silva, in a press conference virtual.
Upon detecting the fire, the local Civil Protection was notified, which supposedly recorded the event. Due to the meteorological conditions that caused strong winds, the fire spread and as a result two lines went out of service, added the director of CFE Transmission.
After the fire, various events were triggered that caused the power outage, according to Carlos Gonzalo Meléndez Román, director of the National Center for Energy Control (CENACE).
The federal official added that the participation of renewable energy generators is of an "excessive" level, due to what he called a "disarticulation of the national electricity system.
In this context, "the reliability of the national interconnected system was lost [...] CENACE will take the necessary actions to guarantee reliability," said Meléndez Román.
"It is a fortuitous event, it is a proven event, so that the initial responsibility is a fortuitous event," said Manuel Bartlett Díaz, CFE general director after explanations from the other federal officials.
Bartlett Díaz indicated that the parastatal company was not responsible for the failure that left 10.3 million users without electricity, but was part of the solution.
"It is not the only participant [...] far that the CFE has been responsible, CFE has been the support of this situation," said the general director of the parastatal.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador affirmed yesterday, Tuesday, December 29, that the blackout that occurred yesterday in at least 12 states of the Republic will not be repeated, in addition to that the CFE would present a report on the causes that same day.
"It will not be repeated, it was an imbalance according to what the technicians expressed, some plants went out of operation and this generated a lack of control in the entire electrical system," added the national president during his morning press conference.
"They are going to present a report today on the causes that caused this blackout in 12 states, what it was due to and answer the question if it will continue to happen, I can anticipate that no, we have a good electricity service," commented the owner of the Federal Executive Power.
At the close of the press conference, the CEO,
@ManuelBartlett He specified that the CFE was the solution to the imbalance in the National Electric System.
What a coincidence! Also in Chavista Venezuela they gave a similar version of their blackouts.
