Putin Recognizes Donbass Republics, Sends Russian Military to 'Denazify' Ukraine

Thank you everyone for keeping us up to speed here

Well me too I feel so relieved. It's funny because I felt pretty depressed lately, but this changed 2 days or so ago...

Oftentimes, whenever I got the latest clown world news, the latest insult of decency, common sense and basic intelligence, or was confronted with something like that in my job or real life, I just felt so sad and angry and powerless, and then refocused on something else, silently praying that our signal becomes so strong that the universe deems it unnecessary to allow this sort of slow torture to continue, and that I find the strength of just enduring it gracefully.

Putin and Russia are no saints, and they don't seem to have any great vision for the future as far as I can see. But they stand for common sense and reality. And in times like these, this is all the paradise I'm desperately longing for. Enough of it. I've seen and understood how this idiocracy developed and what it means. I know why people allow this to happen. We all have analyzed this whole mess from every possible angle. Now please, can we move on? Yes? I'm not sure how this all will develop, but it's going to be rough. But to hell with the US, the EU, the Western governments, media, and the rest. To hell with the libtards and neocons and fear mongers and trolls and the unbearable stupidity and baseness and zombiedom. To hell with this whole freaking asylum.

Whatever the future will bring, today is a good day.

Amen. Action was needed, and action we got.

A good summary of how fast Russia has moved.

This is a "Military Operation" and not an "Invasion". The difference may sound slight but it indicates how todays' operation may play out.

Only today?
Note, a) The speed and timing of the start. Reputedly Russians started moving exactly at the end of the (probably pre recorded) Speech at 5h40.
b) Most of -but possibly all - Airforce, airfields, Command centres were hit in the first hour. Amazingly quick ! (The major Ukrainian Command centre was comprehensively wiped out by - not by the Russians - but either the LPR or DPR. Leaving those "Regular" Ukes around Donbass without any centralized command centre.
c) Bridges and military bases. Hit.
d) Lots of bridging equipment seen and Crimea has already had it's water supply reinstated.
e) Humanitarian corridors have been established for those Uke soldiers that lay down their arms. The have been promised that they will NOT be harmed, (Probable as Putin doesn't like unecessary deaths as they become rallying points at later dates) and many seem to have already done so. Previous "tweets" from the Russian side mentioned separating the "people from the "regime". Personnally I don't give much chance to those who continue fighting - Mercenaries (incl. Blackwater), Azovists and assorted Jihadists. Apparently LPR and DPR are to look after the Ukes around Donbas - preventing them from regrouping and being useful elsewhere.
f) A landing has been reported near Odessa, and the Azov sea (with Uke ports having been squelched) has been declared a no-sail area (something on those lines, precise wording unknown)

OK. That will do for this morning.

However, my earlier idea points to an enlargment on a permanent basis of Lukansk and Donbas. Certain points will NOT be handed back to Ukraine (ie. Crimea water supply. I doubt that Odessa and the US idea of expanding the naval port will be able to continue. So Ukraines final form may not have a sea access. (As b says, above. The "added in 1922" area may become "separated in 2022", one hundred years later)

The question is where will the Russians stop?

I agree with you that the systematic humiliation by underhand means of Russians incl. athletes et al, over the years by underhand means, ensures that the Russian citizens themselves will be more inclined to back Putin. I agree with them about shoddy US/EU/UK pressure.

Perpahs after this Ukraine may be able to find the will to clean out of its social and political life elements such as represented by the Azov Battalion and their past forerunners,

Because otherwise what follows will only get worst and worst until the country in the end will be owned by Western Elites.

In the next four years, Ukraine will have to return $20 billion of debt. The lack of reforms and problems with receiving new loans are a major obstacle. The situation is complicated by the fact that the government will not take unpopular measures due to the 2019 presidential election.

Ukraine Teeters on the Brink of Default as Kiev Struggles to Repay Debts

S&P Global Rating estimated Ukrainian debt repayment in 2017-2020 at over $20 billion, which exceeds the country’s current gold and exchange reserves. According to a report by Ukraine’s National Bank, as of May 1, the gold and exchange reserves are $17.2 billion.

Ukraine began negotiations on the restructuring of its $19.3 billion debt in 2015. In August 2015, Kiev reached an agreement with creditors to write down 20 percent of the debt and move the pay back dates for four years, from 2015-2023 to 2019-2027.

........
In 2018, Kiev will have to return $3.9 billion to creditors while in 2019 $7.5 billion. The situation is complicated by the fact that in 2019 prior to the presidential election the government will have to improve social standards, in order to win voters’ support. Kiev does not have money to increase social benefits, and as a result will have to implement its unpopular pension reform, including removing some of the subsidies and increasing minimal employment record from 15 to 25 years.

Additional money could also be earned from selling agricultural lands, a measure insisted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). However, the move is likely to spark public outrage across the country.
Debt is such a cheap weapon to control a country. Guess who is using it against Ukraine ?

So how are they doing now ? Here is something from 2020.
Looked at from 30,000 feet, Ukraine’s debt burden dropped from 80% of GDP in 2016 to 52% today and inflation is around 4%. Interest rates have dropped over the last couple of years by around 700 basis points and are now at 11%. This is a growth killer. Ukraine’s economy is fragile.

Ukraine’s GDP grew 0.1% in the fourth quarter, slowing from a 0.6% in the third. It was the lowest growth rate since 2016. Last year, the Ukrainian economy grew 1.5% which is better than its new rival Russia, but below market forecasts of 2.3%.

Ukraine is being slowly taken over by foreign financiers thanks to a government run by a mafia. That is why easy entry into EU for its citizens was the only things keeping the place from blowing up. I doubt Ukraine needs a war , something Zelinsky desperately tried to avoid, being in the shape that it is.
Besides, who is going to pay for it ? You bet, The Little People.

In the West things are also delusional. Here's a Brit who doesn't know his own history very well. Brits were kicked in the butt and that is a historical fact.

Don't know what this is exactly, but looks like it may be a map of all the places Russian is striking in Ukraine:

I don't know how accurate that map is, but this Twitter account has lots of videos showing huge explosions of weapons depots and Ukie military positions on the outskirts of multiple cities:

Here's one of those videos, apparently showing a kalibr cruise missile hitting an airfield in the relative small city of Ivano-Frankivsk - which is located just 50kms from Lviv and the border with Slovakia:

Silly question but does this officially mark the end of the covid pandemic? 🤔

Interesting coincidence that today is officially the day when all domestic covid restrictions including legal requirements to self isolate ends in the UK. Contact tracing also ends.

I will travel to Hungary in a couple of days. My husband is freaking out. I told him I had worst when I heard the gunshots from Yugoslavia in 1991... It became quite normal after a while. I guess this statement didn't help.... He is more freaking out now... 😆
Many here have never been in a country at war, so you will get more practice at trying to chill us😎.
I'm near Switzerland, so we're far from the front line, but people are already freacking out.

Safe travel in Hungary🌼

Russian general Konashenkov warns, towards the end of this media statement, that the Ukies are preparing fake footage of civilian casualties:
With no air defense system, it appears that Russian Mi-8 'alligator' choppers are flying deep into Ukraine. This formation was filmed just 10 kms from Kiev this morning, apparently to take an airfield:

Apparently one or more of those choppers were shot down, but most Ukie soldiers elsewhere appear to be either engaging minimally, or surrendering to Russian forces, or outright defecting.

Telegram chanel with lots of videos

and facebook
The channel had a video, confirmed by RT of a downed Ukrainian military plane just outside Kiev. Central intelligence building in Kiev also destroyed.

Multiple videos of Russian helicopters in Ukraine including a number flying to Kiev. Also seen videos of fighter jets filmed somewhere in Ukraine - the video claimed it was a "dog fight"

So far Russian military only going after strategic targets and it doesn't look like they are destroying civilian infrastructure e.g. bridges, water and power plants etc. Russia is attacking the way the US should have attacked Iraq, Libya etc - US just carpet bombed everything in sight and used like the phosphorus bombs and all sorts.
