The Russian military managed to capture the HIMARS missile control system as a trophy.

As a result of the strikes by the Ukrainian military on the Kirovsky district of Donetsk, the Russian military managed not only to successfully shoot down several ammunition fired by HIMARS systems, but also to seize the control system of such missiles. The missile control unit, judging by the visual condition, was not damaged at all. This allows you to study its capabilities and develop a solution to counter attacks using HIMARS systems.

In the photos presented, you can see the control unit from the M30\M31 missile taken as a trophy by the Russian military. In the picture you can see that the block is completely intact. This provides an opportunity for its thorough study. Judging by the fact that the supply of tanks is carried out in small batches, it is obvious that in the West and in Ukraine they are afraid that after identifying areas with these combat vehicles, they may be hit before the tanks can take part in the battles. Nevertheless, it is very noteworthy that the supply of tanks is carried out from the Romanian border, and therefore it is not yet possible to establish the true identity of these combat vehicles.

According to a number of sources, tractors with Leopard 2 tanks were seen in the area of Nikolaev, moving in a northerly direction. The specific destination remains unknown for the time being, however, the deliveries that have begun indicate that the timing of the start of use of these combat vehicles may shift.

To date, Ukraine has about 100 trained crew members for the use of Leopard 2 tanks, which makes it possible to form a battalion from the first delivered combat vehicles.

Ukraine was never able to achieve economic prosperity despite having a head start, due to widespread graft among officials and widely held delusions of being a significant global player, former Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has claimed.

In an interview with the magazine Krytyka Polityczna on Friday, Sikorski, who has represented Poland in the EU Parliament since 2019, stated that Ukrainian elites “were simply wasting their time.” In his view, they were “hiding their corruption and delusions of grandeur behind a story” that they were playing some big game with the US, Russia, Europe, and China.

The MEP recalled that after the collapse of the USSR in 1991, Ukraine had a huge edge over many other ex-Soviet republics and members of the former Eastern bloc. In particular, he said the country had “nuclear plants, an aviation industry, no debt and the most fertile land in the world.”

However, even before Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine last year, the country “had a GDP four times smaller than Poland,” the former minister pointed out, adding that Ukrainians “are now paying dearly for this maneuvering” by the elites.
Poland expands offer of tanks for Ukraine

Earlier this week, Sikorski suggested that Warsaw had considered partitioning Ukraine in the first weeks of the conflict. The allegation, however, was vehemently denied by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who accused Sikorski of acting “like a Russian propagandist.”

Once the second-largest economy in the Soviet Union, Ukraine was Europe’s poorest country by per-capita GDP as of 2020. Even before Russia’s military operation in February 2022, a major economic problem facing Ukraine stemmed from a popular revolt and hostilities in industry-heavy Donbass, which were sparked by a Western-backed coup in Kiev in 2014.

Another major reason Ukraine had become something of an economic backwater, however, is rampant corruption. This time around, the US has been much more active, apart from never having left Germany since WW2. Also, the US has made separate bilateral agreements with some countries, like Poland, Norway and Denmark, which might continue to work even if NATO as a unit becomes more split.

I couldn't believe it when I learned that German tanks would be sent to the front. It's not going to change the course of the war, but it re-opened the wounds of the Russians, and eastern european more generally, and for what?
