"The Kiev regime reorganized the remnants of the 23rd and 31st mechanized brigades into separate consolidated units, which continued offensive operations in the areas of the settlements of Novodarovka and Levadnoye. In addition, a fresh brigade was put into action in this area," the Defense Ministry said.
At the same time, the AFU launched an offensive in the direction of the Oktyabrsky state farm and Novodonetsky by the 37th Marine Brigade with reinforcement, the basis of which was the units of the 68th Mountain Jaeger brigade.
The Russian military inflicted a complex fire defeat on the enemy by the forces of army, assault and tactical aviation, missile troops and artillery, as well as heavy flamethrower systems.
"As a result of the active and selfless actions of the units of the Vostok group of forces, who showed courage and heroism, the enemy was stopped and did not achieve the tasks set," the Defense Ministry stressed.
As a result, according to the ministry, more than 1.5 thousand Ukrainian military, 28 tanks, including eight German Leopards and three wheeled French AMX-10RC tanks, as well as 109 armored combat vehicles were destroyed.
The day before, the Defense Ministry said that on the morning of June 4, the Ukrainian side launched a large-scale offensive on five sectors of the front in the South Donets direction. In total, the enemy engaged six mechanized and two tank battalions. As noted by Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, the AFU failed and did not achieve the tasks set.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are going on the offensive in some areas.
The timing of the Ukrainian counteroffensive has repeatedly shifted. Russian commentators linked this "nervousness", firstly, with the information war - constant announcements of an imminent offensive are designed to keep Moscow in suspense, and secondly, with the fact that the West demands quick and victorious results from Kiev, and it has to constantly "report".
