Putin Recognizes Donbass Republics, Sends Russian Military to 'Denazify' Ukraine

The disgusting tik-tok war. All the ukrops bosses, starting with the main ukropskloun, in all their interviews, first of all say that their main requirement is to save the lives of military personnel. Liying creatures. What military advantages can such actions provide, as described below? The question is rhetorical. This is pure PR, actions to create a media effect and for this purpose lives of ukrops warriors are laid down. I'm not even talking about the lives of Russian military and civilians.
An attempt to break through in the Kursk region: The authorities denied the consolidation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian territory
Fierce fighting is taking place on several sections of the state border in the Kursk region. According to the data provided by the Telegram channel "Two Majors", the enemy in one of the narrow sections of the front was able to cross the border for several hundred meters, but was stopped and is now being destroyed. The situation is controlled by Russian forces.

The authorities of the Kursk region confirm the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but note that the soldiers of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation successfully prevented an attempt to break through the border. Acting Governor of the region Vladimir Smirnov appealed to residents to trust only official sources of information and not to succumb to provocations.

"I want to warn you that in the coming hours there will be many different information stuffing. I urge you to trust official sources of information and not to succumb to the actions of provocateurs," Smirnov said.

According to intelligence reports, Ukrainian forces are planning to create a media effect similar to past events in the Belgorod region. It is expected that soon there may be units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine engaged in filming for social networks in order to distribute videos and create information noise.

10 boats of the GUR of Ukraine were destroyed on the Tendra Spit
About ten boats belonging to the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of Ukraine were destroyed on the Tendra Spit, located in the Black Sea. According to the information provided by the Telegram channel "Turned on the Z War", the boats with the landing landed directly on the minefield, which led to their destruction.

"About ten boats with troops that landed directly on the minefield… To be continued. Only not everyone was saved. Ours are without losses," the message says.

At the moment, the reliability of this information has not been confirmed by official sources. However, earlier the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already attempted to land troops in this region, which fuels interest in this news.

From Simplicius, Ukraine invades Russia, crossing the border a few kilometres this morning.

Note, I've inserted some comments from me in the series of quotes and not from Simplicius in italics below. Otherwise I've just copied from the article to highlight key points. There's something I still haven't worked out about quotes, etc., to post here, with apologies and just hopes it makes sense, and at least introduces this development.

SITREP 8/6/24: Shaky Start of Zelensky's Risky Gambit to Deflect Disaster

Beginning of the Substack post on August 7/24:

Events have accelerated today in Ukraine and elsewhere.

Today, Zelensky decided to launch what some Russian commentators are calling the single largest land assault into Russian territory of the entire SMO thus far. What stood it apart from the previous mid-level raids on Belgorod region and such, is that this time it wasn’t the ‘Russian Legion’ paramilitary group—made up of disgruntled traitor Russians—but rather the full force of the AFU itself, by way of the 22nd Mechanized Bridge, from what I’ve seen so far. Details are still coming in, but it’s said to have been around 3 battalions or 1 brigade in size, though some report several hundred troops for now.

The attack was decently well-coordinated and utilized the full breadth of combined arms warfare, with Ukrainian forces leading with a mass FPV drone attack, and pulling up mobile air defenses to cover the advancement. One of them, a Buk-M1, was hit by Russian cluster munitions—likely from the Tornado-S GMLRS:"
....
"Circled in red is Kurchatov, in yellow is the nuke plant. It’s clear Ukraine wants to rattle Russia and hold it at the end of a gun in the most sensitive way possible, particularly prior to any perceived-to-be-forced negotiations in the near to medium-term future."
....
"So, it still potentially represents an interesting gain for the AFU. If this is said to be the largest incursion into Russian territory of the entire SMO, then that means by default, it is the largest land invasion of actual Russian land since Operation Barbarossa of WWII. Silly as that might sound, it nonetheless represents a kind of triggering ancestral memory to Russians, particularly in the Kursk region.

This is doubled by the fact that Ukrainian forces have now wantonly and indiscriminately been attacking civilians in the region during the hostilities. Yesterday they killed an old woman in her apartment with a drone, in a clear case of deliberate civilian murder:"
......
"Many prominent analysts on the pro-Ukrainian side however are greatly irritated by what they consider another in a long series of senseless attacks that will ultimately lead to futile losses:"

From pro-Ukrainian writer, that this attack was wasteful of Ukrainian resources, and asks who authorized it:

https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/81c57718-3e95-48dd-8479-38bbeec999ce_910x834.png?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

Also interesting, a description of Russian tactics at the end of the article - quoting a Ukrainian soldier named ‘Alex’ from the 53rd Brigade who writes a fascinating description of Russian assault tactics from the New York-Toretsk direction:

"What he’s saying here is, the new Russian advancement tactic is such small scale combat teams, that Ukrainian FPVs literally can’t even find any targets to hit. Russia has eschewed major armor pushes in some areas, and just advances with 4-7 infantry at a time, which quickly lodge themselves into the forest tracts and hedgerows, disappearing from view.

He complains that the Russians accumulate a larger pool of men via this slow trickle of fire teams, then once they’ve accumulated, they jump into the trenches and dole out 200 and 300s to the AFU defenders, taking no losses themselves—a naked admission of Russia’s low casualties during many assaults.

In short, they’re frustrated that these tactics prevent Ukrainian troops from being able to stop the gradual, boa constrictor like advances."

This covers the basics of what Simplicius wrote today. It is shocking and indeed, who authorized this incursion. It sounds to me that it isn't militarily important, but tactically? Simplicius says it's clear Ukraine wants to rattle Russia but it seems basically pointless, though maybe a morale boosting exercise too? Also posited by Simplicius, it's a diversionary tactic, with troup buildup elsewhere. He says about a paywalled post from last night: "...... you’ll note I referenced a rumor that Zelensky could launch a northern misdirection attack prior to the real vector in the south, toward Energodar—although this rumor had stated Kharkov, rather than Sumy specifically."

There's something I still haven't worked out about quotes, etc., to post here
To get this result with quote box you have to highlight the sentence and then press "reply" which appears automatically as a choice.

Alternatively, you can highlight a sentence and choose "copy" in the right click menu of your mouse and then paste it somewhere appropriate, subsequently highlighting it again and choose the quote sign (") to the right in the row above the quote box you use to compose your reply.

After a few times practicing you'll get the hang of it soon enough. ;-)

Of course you have to be logged in to accomplish all this.

@Lyndi Lama : Just to add to what Palinurus said / maybe say it in a different way:

To quote what someone said on the forum in an earlier message/thread = highlight their text and use the "+Quotes" at the bottom right of their message.

To quote multiple people / quotes in a thread or message, highlight the text and keep adding quotes using "+Quotes". When you have finished gathering your quotes use "insert quotes" at the bottom left of your message box to drop them into your message (then you can write individual replies to each comment in between)

To copy and paste/quote info from another source (ie: article online) use the "quotes" symbol at the top bar of your new message. (image below)

Maybe when you have some time just click on the different icons so you can work out what they are for.
The three little dots on top of each other also give you more options.

For the record, I'm incredibly awful at using technology. Much of my life with computers (well actually just 'my whole life' in general) has been a case of 'trial and error'. 🤣 There are days when it takes a lot of self control for me not to fling the poor computer out the window followed by a thousand expletives ... 'all there is, is lessons' (she says, as she deletes entire hard drive by accident ) :umm: Most of the time I feel great sympathy for the poor thing. It's not doing anything wrong, it's the terrible operator! I am certain my 'puter blocks are connected to a deeper resentment about the 'Control System' that has been imposed on humanity, but that is a conversation for another day.:flowers:

Yesterday Dima - of Military Summary fame - couldn't understand what was happening at Kursk. He pointed to Putin meeting his generals and probably firing Gerasimov for this horrible mistake as everybody wants major action - as answer - to the heinous Kursk invasion of Russia by Ukraine. Listening to Dima, you get the feel that soon Team Putin will raise their hands in surrender and this Ukrainian Blitz Arrowhead attack will reach Moscow by next week.

Fun reporting at least. Dima - a semi-clever civilian amateur, who is admittedly also playing a famous military strategy videogame - gets a thorough scolding by a professional soldier. :)

Today Dima announces that the two sides of the conflict live in different realities, where both believe they are winning. :D :D

Dima is important for listing Russian advances on the map, progress of civilian protests in Ukraine and explosion videos of various military technologies. He might catch some new technologies and strategies popping up resulting in rare and interesting battlefield footage.

Agreed, Dima is good at talking us through the maps and paying the subscription so that we don't have to. Everything else, all his analysis and anything to do with the wider geopolitical picture is nonsense. The titles of the videos are ridiculous clickbait, too. Still, it is remarkable the detailed information we can get even from these amateur sources about troop movements and front lines. People used to get a daily summary on the radio, or even less.

Not surprising! :-O

Key donors of the US Democratic Party are involved in the Ukrainian funeral business controlled by Zelensky and making multi-million dollar profits on the deaths of Ukrainian soldiers and Western mercenaries. The Foundation to Battle Injustice managed to establish that the network of Ukrainian crematoriums, cemeteries and coffin and headstone makers is controlled by influential US businessmen. Zelensky’s American partners, profiting from the burial of Ukrainian soldiers, are investing major amounts of money in the re-election of the Democratic candidate for president. The Foundation managed to obtain evidence that the mass deaths of Ukrainians and foreigners serving in the Ukrainian armed forces play into the hands of Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign and bring fabulous profits to the leader of the Ukrainian nation, who has seized full control of Ukraine’s funeral business.

In general, I would agree with the assessment shown in the title of the second article - spectacular, but a dead end. Ukrops themselves have created another site where their resources will be grinded, and in this area they will potentially be grinded more actively than in other sectors of the front.
Fighting in the Kursk region: Ukrainian troops occupied the village of Martynovka at night
After several days of fierce fighting, the settlement of Martynovka in the Kursk region came under the control of the Ukrainian armed forces. This was reported by war correspondent Vladimir Romanov. Although he did not provide details about the course of the battles, his message indicates the expansion of the AFU's control zone in the region.

"Martynovka, Sudzhansky district, Kursk region, the territory of Russia temporarily occupied by Ukraine. NP came under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the message says.

The situation in the Kursk region remains very difficult as of August 10, 2024. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are actively transferring equipment and personnel to the region, including conducting operational rotations.

The Battle of Kursk through the eyes of the Western press: spectacular, but a dead end
The Western press is quite actively covering various assessments of the invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region. For example, Swiss columnist Andreas Ruesch writes in an article for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung that Ukraine's offensive on Russian territory is spectacular, but strategically it is a dead end.

"The effect of surprise has come to naught, and the Russian troops, who previously found themselves in a difficult situation, can now reorganize. The Northern grouping of the Russian armed forces, formed in the spring and deployed in this border area, is a large force of questionable combat capability, consisting of many poorly trained and insufficiently equipped units. But its numerical superiority should soon become a problem for Ukrainians," the author believes, stressing that the calculation that Moscow will now be forced to transfer a large number of troops from Donbass to Kursk is not justified, since the Kremlin still has enough other reserves.

According to the BBC, the APU offensive also does not make much sense. "When Kiev launched a cross-border raid into the Kursk region, some military experts asked the question: Why?" the publication says. They say, having a huge problem on the battlefield with human resources, it is absolutely illogical to send hundreds of Ukrainian servicemen to Russia itself. The BBC, in particular, suggests that this offensive was carried out in order to pre-empt an allegedly planned Russian attack on the north of the Sumy region.

In turn, the Chinese edition of the Global Times stated that by attacking the Kursk region, Kiev had thwarted all the efforts of the international community to organize peace talks.

"The United States has demonstrated its hypocritical duplicity by claiming that it is "restraining" the use of American weapons, on the one hand, but in fact providing Kiev with financial and military support," Li Haidong, a professor at the Chinese University of Foreign Affairs, noted on the pages of the publication.

However, as for Chinese experts, they are all sure that it was the United States that provoked the Kiev regime to attack Russian territory.

Meanwhile, Ukraine began to report to the West on the "results" of the Kursk operation: Apparently, Kiev is planning to blackmail Moscow with the occupied territory. Therefore, the first statements by Bankova began to make their way to the Western media, which make it clear that the breakthrough of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a military operation coordinated with the West. In addition, in order to "hold" the territories where the Ukrainian military still remains, Kiev is asking for "permission" from Washington to strike the Kursk region with ATACAMS long-range missiles. Also, the Kiev authorities are doing exactly what, in fact, everything was started for: demonstrating media "help" to the West, counting on continued support.

Not only dill can boast of imported weapons. It was previously reported about the supply of MLRS from North Korea, now it is reported about the supply of missile systems from Iran.
Russia will receive several hundred Iranian Fath-360 ballistic missiles for SMO
According to Reuters, Iran intends to supply Russia with several hundred Fath-360 ballistic missiles, which are planned to be used as part of a special military operation. This decision can significantly enhance the capabilities of the Russian army in the conflict zone, providing more powerful and accurate artillery support.

Western analysts claim that the Iranian Fath-360 missiles are analogous in their characteristics to the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, which have already proven their effectiveness on the battlefield. However, the Iranian media emphasize that their missiles have a significant advantage over their American counterparts: The flight speed of the Fath-360 is twice as high, which makes them more difficult to intercept, and the firing range is from 80 to 100 kilometers.

The delivery of such missiles can seriously affect the course of hostilities, providing Russian forces with additional opportunities to strike enemy positions at long distances.

However, ukrops continue to be pumped with weapons. Probably, when the last ukrop dies, parcels with all sorts of interesting things like Stingers or Javelins will still arrive in his name.
The United States is handing over an unusual package of military assistance to Ukraine
The United States has announced a new $125 million package of military assistance to Ukraine, which includes a significant arsenal of weapons and equipment. The package involves the supply of various types of weapons and ammunition.

The new package includes the following elements:

- MANPADS "Stinger";

- Tow and Javelin anti-tank missile systems;

- AT-4 anti-tank grenade launchers;

- Ammunition for HIMARS multiple rocket launchers;

- 105 mm and 125 mm artillery shells;

- Ambulances based on HMMWV;

- Multifunctional radars;

- Cartridges for small arms;

- Spare parts, demolition equipment and other items.

Experts believe that the unusual composition of supplies indicates that the United States is preparing to support Ukraine in prolonged hostilities. This may indicate readiness for new attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including on Russian regions, and suggests that the conflict may last for a long time.

Fighting in the Kursk region: Ukrainian troops occupied the village of Martynovka at night
Information has just appeared aboard the release of Martynovka. Thus, we have approximate limits of penetration of ukrops. In one direction they were stopped near Martynovka, which is up to 20 km from the border, in the other direction near Korenevo, it is up to 30 km from the border. At the same time, ukrops moves only on roads, and this has nothing to do with the full occupation of the territory. Let's see how they can dig in-strengthen themselves and ensure the delivery of everything they need, if they can't, then it won't be so difficult to squeeze them out.
Some details of the liberation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation of the village of Martynovka in the Sudzhansky district appear
There are some details of the liberation of the village of Martynovka in the Kursk region, more precisely, the part of it that was under enemy control in the last couple of days.

As already reported by Military Review, the Russian army inflicted a fire defeat on the enemy in the western part of Martynovka, and as a result he was pushed back to the southwest.

In order not to lose control of this settlement, the AFU tried to pull up reserves from Suja, the western part of which they occupy. At the same time, reserves were to be introduced across the border at the site broken through on August 6 for the Suja itself (the district center).

However, these movements were detected by our intelligence, after which all the "pull-ups" were attacked using various means of fire damage. The role in preventing the approach of the AFU reinforcements to Martynovka was played by the barrel artillery and drone pilots of the Armed Forces.

As a result, up to 10 armored vehicles were burned in the Martynovka area, including NATO-made armored vehicles and at least three Kozak armored vehicles ("Cossack") of the 80th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The enemy tried once again to advance towards another regional center of the Kursk region – Korenevo. However, this attempt was not successful for the enemy either.

By now, the Russian Aerospace Forces are launching missile and bomb attacks on enemy military equipment in the north of the Sumy region, preventing them from accumulating new forces to support those of their units that previously invaded the territory of the Kursk region.

In general, I would agree with the assessment shown in the title of the second article - spectacular, but a dead end. Ukrops themselves have created another site where their resources will be grinded, and in this area they will potentially be grinded more actively than in other sectors of the front.
Perhaps there are just being used, visual distraction while in other areas forbidden word weapons are used - as suggested in the X post below - so, therefore other alliances and agreements are also being observed. A war that will not end soon, for "we have always been at war with Oceania".

There was a huge explosion at Morozovsk airbase in Russia, to which I had been able just to corroborate at Ukranian news outlet.

AFU General Staff confirms strike on Morozovsk airfield in Russia, there is a hit on warehouses with aircraft bombs
The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Morozovsk airfield on the night of Saturday, August 3, and also attacked oil depots in three Russian regions, the AFU General Staff has reported.

According to the military, in Morozovsk, a hit was recorded on ammunition depots where, in particular, guided aerial bombs were stored. At the same time, information on the defeat of air defense equipment and aircraft is being clarified.

Also at night, a number of oil depots and fuel storage facilities of the Russian occupiers in Belgorod, Kursk and Rostov regions were attacked, the General Staff adds. At least two oil product tanks were confirmed hit and on fire.
Earlier on August 3, a number of Russian Telegram channels reported a fire at the Morozovsk airfield in Russia's Rostov Region after shelling by the Defense Forces. Eyewitnesses recorded the detonation of ammunition.

Also Russian publics wrote about a fire on fuel tanks in the Kamensky district of the Rostov region. Telegram channel Astra suggested that UAVs hit the Atlas Combine, which specializes in storing oil products and supplies fuel to the Russian army.

The Defense Ministry of the aggressor country claims that at night the air defense allegedly intercepted 75 UAVs: 36 over Rostov Region, eight over Kursk Region, nine over Belgorod Region, 17 over Orel Region, two over Ryazan Region, and one UAV each over Voronezh Region, the Sea of Azov and Krasnodar Territory.

Russia Blocks Signal, Curbs YouTube, As Ukraine Troop Incursion Results In 76,000+ Civilians Evacuated

by Tyler Durden
Saturday, Aug 10, 2024

"But this has apparently led to crackdowns on US-based social media platforms and messaging apps. Friday into Saturday there have been widespread reports that Russia has blocked the Signal messaging app while also throttling YouTube."

"At this point a whopping 76,000+ Russians living near southern border areas have had to evacuate their homes amid the ongoing Ukrainian cross-border offensive."

"At least 16,000 civilians have left their homes in Russian border areas, where emergency aid and medical supplies have been ferried in, and extra trains to the capital Moscow have been put on for people fleeing."

"President Putin has accused Ukrainian troops of "indiscriminately firing various types of weapons, including missiles, at civilian facilities, residential buildings, and ambulances." US-supplied equipment, especially Bradley Fighting Vehicles, have been observed during the assault."

"Verifiable information coming from the areas of fighting in Kursk has been scant. Each side is claiming successes and advances, but as we detailed Friday President Putin and top Kremlin leadership were caught off guard by these surprise developments."

"With scenes like the below now widely unfolding in Russia's southern oblasts, Moscow is likely about to hit Ukraine hard, but it must restore stability and security to Kursk, Belgorod, and Lipetsk first."

"This is indeed a significant turning point, and not helping matters is the fact that the US is appearing to positively back the cross-border move by Kiev."

"The Russians published a video of the transfer of forces to the Kursk region. On the last seconds of the video an interesting vehicle can be see - MT-LB with an installed Grad-1 rocket launcher"

AND FROM THE PENTAGON:

"yes it is consistent with our policy"

"however, when pressed about the scenario of a direct attack on Moscow, she simply said: "I’m not going to put a specific range on it" and thus refused to rule it out."

"I'm not gonna draw a circular map for you here of where they can and cannot strike."

Both articles are from zerohedge, with plenty of links, photos, and videos:

From RBС-Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine , Sun, August 11, 2024 - 22:13 Author:Liliana Oleniak

Residents of Nikopol noticed a fire in one of the cooling towers of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant on the occupied bank of the former Kakhovka reservoir. This could be a Russian provocation, according to Yevhen Yevtushenko, head of the Nikopol district military administration.

According to unofficial information from sources on the opposite bank, the Russians set fire to large quantities of car tires in the cooling tower.

"Perhaps this is a provocation or an attempt to create panic in the settlements on the right bank of the former reservoir," Yevtushenko says.

Russians set fire to ZNPP cooling towers, provocation possible

He stressed that ZNPP is operating as normal as possible under the Russian occupation and called on residents of the Nikopol district to calm down.

ZNPP cooling towers are located on the cooling basin, at a considerable distance from the nuclear power plant's power units. These are structures for cooling water with atmospheric air.

Russians set fire to ZNPP cooling towers, provocation possible

Russian occupation of ZNPP

Zaporizhzhia NPP has been under Russian occupation since 3 March 2022. The plant is illegally operated by Russia's Rosatom but is currently not generating electricity.

From time to time, the Russian army arranges provocations at ZNPP. Sometimes the Russians damage power lines that are critical for the operation of the plant with shelling, sometimes they launch attack drones over the plant. In addition, Russians keep their troops and military equipment on the territory of the nuclear power plant.

Currently, the International Atomic Energy Agency mission is on the territory of ZNPP. IAEA observers have recently reported fires near the plant, warning that this is complicating the situation there.
