KYIV (Reuters) - A top ally of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday corrupt officials would be rounded up and jailed as part of a zero tolerance policy, after the most high-profile graft allegations since Russia invaded burst into public view.
Ukraine has a long history of battling corruption and shaky governance, though there had been few examples since Moscow's invasion last year as Kyiv has fought back Russian troops and received Western financial and military support.
On Sunday, anti-corruption police said they had detained the deputy infrastructure minister on suspicion of receiving a $400,000 kickback to facilitate the import of generators into wartime Ukraine last September.
Separately, a newspaper investigation published on Saturday accused the Defence Ministry of overpaying suppliers for food for its soldiers. The ministry said the report contained "signs of deliberate manipulation" and was "misleading".

David Arakhamia, head of Zelenskiy's Servant of the People party, said it was made clear during the invasion that officials should "focus on the war, help victims, cut bureaucracy and stop dubious business".

"Many of them got the message. But many of them did not unfortunately. We're definitely going to be jailing actively this spring. If the humane approach doesn't work, we'll do it in line with martial law," he said.
Before last year's invasion, fighting corruption was the principal theme for Zelenskiy, a political novice swept into power in a landslide in 2019 on a promise to clean up Ukraine's notoriously crooked institutions. In his nightly video address, Zelenskiy said measures would be announced this week.
"I want this to be clear: there will be no return to what used to be in the past, to the way various people close to state institutions or those who spent their entire lives chasing a chair used to live," Zelenskiy said.
Several Ukrainian media outlets have reported that a number of cabinet ministers and senior officials could be sacked imminently as Zelenskiy tries to make the government more effective and streamlined.
Ukraine, whose economy shrank by a third last year, is hugely dependent on Western financial aid and donors such as the International Monetary Fund and EU have repeatedly asked for more transparency and better governance.

It shows one young guy with blood on his head and an older man, both look to be Ukrainian fighters. The man filming also seems to be Ukrainian from the little of his voice that I hear. What is unclear is why he shot them. The translated word we see is "allies", spoken by those that will be shot !!!
Were they shot because they didn't want to fight ???

The first evidence of the dispatch of Polish Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine has appeared.

Polish information sources report that the first Leopard 2A4 tanks were sent to Ukraine. These combat vehicles have already been loaded onto railway platforms and sent towards the Ukrainian border, from where, in all likelihood, the latter will get to the places of subsequent deployment on their own, since Ukraine does not have the means capable of transporting tanks weighing about 60 tons.

At the moment, the information that Poland has supplied Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine is confirmed by a photo of a Leopard 2A4 tank on a railway platform. The tank's turret is turned away (conditions of transportation by rail), however, a distinctive sign in the form of the Polish flag can be seen on the armor.

In total, Poland intended to transfer 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine, without excluding the supply of more of these combat vehicles in the future, but it is still unknown how many units of this military equipment were transferred in the first batch, provided that the information on this account is reliable.

It is known that initially Poland could not send this armored vehicle to Ukraine due to the lack of coordination of the issue with Germany, however, Berlin announced that they would not create obstacles to Polish supplies.

At the moment, it is known that during the negotiations between the two countries, a fundamental decision was reached on the supply of German tanks to Ukraine. Details on this will be announced within the next week, however, deliveries can be arranged only in a few months.

"In the coming days, we can expect news from Germany on tanks for Ukraine," State Department spokesman Ned Price said.

Exactly how the United States managed to put pressure on Germany is still unknown, however, experts do not rule out that in exchange for tanks, Berlin may receive American weapons, in particular, it is known that Germany needs to replace its Panavia Tornado fighters.

There is no direct indication that we are talking about GLSDB ammunition, however, earlier Avia journalists.missile defense has already reported that the supply of these weapons to Ukraine has already taken place, but in very small quantities.
