Putin addressed the Wagner rebellion at the Valdai discussion. He even took a share of responsibility for what happened. He wasn't specifically asked about the rebellion, he volunteered the information to those gathered. I jotted these down on the fly, so some of the meaning may be lost:
- the rebellion was unfortunate, but now Russia knows how to deal with such groups a little better
- there was no legal status for PMCs in Russia, and all talk of Wagner being a 'PMC' is a Western designation imported onto a very nebulous and confused structure
- Wagner was internally divided, with its own rich leadership and poor followers
- the Russian state paid in cash and did not guarantee social support, (which may have lead to a feeling of uncertainty that can be exploited?)
- Putin is unsure as to what the future of 'PMC's of Russia might be, but a legal framework is a must
- fragments of a grenade found in the bodies of the dead of the Wagner leadership, indicating internal explosion and not an outside attack
- bodies were not tested for drugs or alcohol, but 10 billion rubles and 5 kg of cocaine found in Wagner's office by investigators

It doesn't make much sense in light of what's been known (if true) so far.
Interior grenade explosion, with its fragments found in the passengers' bodies, must have taken place in the aircraft fuselage, I guess. With fuselage damage and possibly sudden decompression (depending on the damage). I just cannot see how that would compute with broken off wing and the fuselage more or less intact on the ground after the crash.
Two possibilities I can think of:
- either the grenade fragments have been sitting in the bodies for a long time, from earlier battles and injuries, and they are preparing a sabotage/ treachery conclusion and perhaps testing how this narrative is received; or
- the videos of the falling plane were fake; the early official reports of the wing and the back of the plane found in two other locations both far away from the crash site, and the fuselage being only slightly damaged - were all lies.
(FWIW!) In the TG/blogosphere, the dominating theory, based on leaks and inside knowledge (real or made up), is explosives placed in the chassis compartment, most likely in the Moscow airport's airdock where the jet was undergoing some minor repairs. Allegedly, despite all airport security measures, there were two visits to the airdock shortly before the fatal flight. And it's been pretty consistent thorough the whole time.
I am surprised by the approach of the West. Now everyone is talking with one voice about whether Zelensky will go to negotiations with Russia, as if this is some kind of serious problem. He will go to negotiations, and if he does not go, then he will run, and if he does not run, then he will crawl, and if he does not go, does not run and does not crawl, then someone else will do it instead of him in due time. At the same time, almost no one, except maybe Ritter and McGregor, discusses the topic, and why the hell is Russia needs these negotiations in the existing conditions? Probably this is what C's has already been mentioned many times as "wishful thinking" .
