Ukraine was secretly developing nuclear weapons and it was close to obtaining them, Russian media reported on March 6 citing a source with knowledge of the situation in Russian security structures.

Ukraine's foreign minister announced that 20 thousand foreign militants from 52 countries came to Ukraine. What the jihadists did to the country and its neighbors in Syria, the neo-Nazi fascists in Ukraine and Europe will cause it.

Syrian Leader Calls Western Discrimination of Russia Unprecedented in World History

BEIRUT (Sputnik) - Discrimination that the West is now perpetuating against Russia is unprecedented in world history and infringes on the principles of international law, turning the world into "a jungle," Syrian President Bashar Assad said on Thursday.

"Western discrimination of Russia is unprecedented in world history... The West lies in every word in pursuit of world power and thievery... The West has proved that international law is worthless and has crossed out all the principles of the world agreements turning the world into a jungle," Assad told a meeting with teachers from all Syrian provinces, as quoted by Syrian news agency SANA.

The president noted that there are means of confronting the West, and called for a "dynamic thinking" and a strong will to find economic solutions amid unilateral sanctions.

The president said that the world turned into "a wild forest run by Western thieves in the absence of international law" after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

"The West is experiencing a historic reversal of its global role after the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine... The conflict in Ukraine has exposed the true face of Western powers to their people," Assad said.

Russia launched an operation in Ukraine on February 24 after the breakaway Donbas republics appealed for help in defending themselves against the Ukrainian military. In response, Western nations have rolled out a comprehensive sanctions campaign against Moscow.

Israeli Jets Launch Strikes Against Damascus, Syrian Air Defenses Engaged - State Media

No other details were immediately provided. The country's defense ministry stated that there was a destruction, but it was not clear of which scale. No casualties were reported either. However, the number and type of attacking projectiles has remained unknown.

Israel carried out air strikes in the suburbs of Damascus on Thursday, Syria’s state news agency SANA reported.

According to the news agency's reporter, the explosions were heard in the sky in the western part of the city.

The outlet, citing sources in the military, said that the Israeli jets carried out "an air aggression" from the north of the occupied Golan Heights, and that the targets of the airstrike were situated the western suburbs of Damascus.

A video allegedly showing the execution of an air raid by Israeli fighters has surfaced on social media. According to the video's description, shortly before explosions were heard over Syria, the jets were spotted in the sky of northern Israel.

According to an Al-Arabiya report, the Israeli raid targeted Iranian air defense installations that had recently arrived in the region.

Later, on social media, unconfirmed reports said that at least one impact had been reported west of Damascus, with places like Ras Al-Ain and Al-Dimas being popular targets.

Moreover, a drone was reportedly seen in the area where the strike have been conducted, as it might have reportedly conducted reconnaissance or corrected the strike.

In early March, four Israeli F-16 fighter jets launched an attack on Syria with eight cruise missiles, seven of which were destroyed, according to the Russian military. The Syrian media reported back then that Israeli planes targeted multiple places near Damascus at about 5 am local time, while in Lebanese airspace. In total, two civilians were killed.

Israel targets Syria on a regular basis, claiming that its operations are geared at opposing the Iranian military presence in the Arab republic. Such strikes are considered infringement of Syrian national sovereignty by Damascus.

Air defenses respond to missile attack on Damascus

Syria accused Israel of launching missiles on an area south of Damascus on Monday evening, targeting the suburb of Saida Zaynab.

Air defenses were activated around 11:18 pm on Monday in response to “hostile missiles” detected approaching Damascus, the state news agency SANA reported. State TV described the attack as “Israeli aggression.”

The projectiles came from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights and “most” were intercepted by air defenses, SANA said, citing military sources. Eyewitnesses reported seeing several explosions in the night sky over the Syrian capital.

At least one missile got through, however, and caused property damage. There have been no reports of casualties as of yet.

Israel has repeatedly launched missiles into Syria over the past several years. On the rare occasion Tel Aviv has acknowledged the strikes, it claimed to target Iranian military presence in the neighboring country in preemptive self-defense. Tehran has sent military aid to Damascus in the fight against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) and other terrorist groups.

A May 20 missile strike targeting the vicinity of the Damascus international airport killed at least three people and caused a fire that resulted in flight delays. According to the Israeli outlet Ynet, its targets were pro-Iranian militias.

Strikes injured at least one civilian, the Syrian military told state media

Israeli warplanes have struck sites south of the Damascus, triggering the country’s air defenses for the second time since Monday evening, local media reported, noting that the alleged missile attack left one non-combatant wounded and inflicted “material losses.”

Israel “carried out an air aggression” over the outskirts of the Syrian capital around 4:20am local time on Friday, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency, which cited an unnamed military source.

“The aggression resulted in the injury of a civilian and the infliction of some material losses,” the official said, adding that the salvo was fired from the direction of the Israel-occupied Golan Heights and that most of the missiles were shot down.

The latest reports come just days after Syrian authorities claimed similar strikes targeted areas around the capital, also denouncing them as “Israeli aggression.” No casualties were reported following that incident, though one missile caused property damage.

Another alleged attack on May 13 reportedly killed five people, including a civilian, and left seven others wounded. A child was among those injured, the Syrian military said.

Israel has repeatedly bombed Syria throughout the country’s decade-long struggle against jihadist insurgents, and while it rarely confirms such operations, officials have frequently complained of the alleged threat posed by Iranian fighters deployed to assist Syrian forces. Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, previously indicated his country had carried out hundreds of air raids on Syrian territory.

Speaking to RT for an interview last weekend, Syrian President Bashar Assad commented on the Israeli military action, suggesting it aimed to prop up terrorist groups that failed to topple the government in Damascus despite years of support from Western and regional powers.

“The Israeli interference at the beginning was linked directly to when the terrorists collapsed in Syria,” he said. “When the terrorists began to retreat and their morale collapsed, the Israeli intervention was necessary to raise their morale and to re-mobilize them. What Israel is doing now comes within this framework and nothing else.”

Russia Issues Unusually Bitter Condemnation Of Israeli Attack On Damascus Airport

Israeli media is on Saturday describing an "unusually bitter condemnation" as Russia has lashed out at Israel's latest airstrikes on Syria, which disabled Damascus International Airport.

Following the Friday pre-dawn raid, ostensibly against Iranian weapons shipments and assets according to Israeli reports, Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Friday evening slammed the—

"vicious practice" of Israeli strikes on civilian infrastructure, which it said were "provocative" and "in violation of the basic norms of international law."

Syria had been forced to halt all flights from its largest commercial international airport following the fresh Israeli airstrikes, as we detailed earlier, with the country's main international transit hub likely to be halted into next week pending urgent repairs.

The statement from Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said, "We are compelled to reiterate that the ongoing Israeli shelling of the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, in violation of the basic norms of international law, is absolutely unacceptable."

It continued: "We strongly condemn Israel's provocative attack on the most important object of the Syrian civilian infrastructure."

"Such irresponsible actions create serious risks for international air traffic and put the lives of innocent people in real danger." it said.

According to The Times of Israel, the damage to the runways is extensive: "An Israeli satellite intelligence firm published images showing significant damage to the runways, which it said disabled the entire airport."

This week, and following a prior Israeli strike on Syria, Russian jets joined Syria's air force in a rare joint patrol and exercise:

The ministry said two Russian SU-35 fighter jets and six Syrian MiG-23 and MiG-29 aircraft simulated facing “hostile” warplanes and drones. Syrian pilots dealt with them with cover and support from the Russian warplanes, it said.

“All illusive targets were monitored and completely destroyed while aerial targets were hit at night for the first time,” the Syrian Defense Ministry said in a statement. It also released a video of the warplanes that it said took part in the drill.

While Russia has in the past years of war provided Damascus with S-300 missile systems, it has typically not engaged Israel - but has in the last month stepped up warnings against Israeli overreaching in its purported 'anti-Iranian' operations over Syria.

Russia Attacks US-Backed Fighters In Syria At American Outpost

US military officials have told The Wall Street Journal that Russia forces have carried out multiple military operations against the US-led coalition in Syria this month. This included a Wednesday attack on the al-Tanf garrison along the Iraq border in southeast Syria, though so far it appears the operations have targeted American proxies, namely local Arab and Kurdish factions that US trainers have been supporting.
Given that Russia informed the Americans of the attacks ahead of time via a military-to-military communications line, the Pentagon believes Russia "wasn’t actively targeting American troops but was harassing the US mission in Syria."

With al-Tanf, US officials described that "a combat outpost at the garrison" was hit in the Russian strike, but no US troops were there at the time, in an attack that appeared to target ”US-backed Maghawir al-Thawra fighters" - which Russia says was responsible for an earlier roadside bomb attack against its troops. There were no reports of casualties, as coalition forces quickly evacuated due to the prior Russian warning.
It's clear that this is perhaps the closest Russian and US forces have ever come to direct conflict, something the Pentagon has expressed a desire to avoid, but said Russia's recent actions are a serious "provocation" and mark an escalation.

"We seek to avoid miscalculation or a set of actions that could lead to unnecessary conflict: that remains our goal," Army Gen. Erik Kurilla, the head of US Central Command said. "However, Russia’s recent behavior has been provocative and escalatory."
CNN added in a follow-up to the WSJ report:
The initial US assessment is the Russian forces were likely ordered to notify the US ahead of time and conduct the airstrikes knowing they would not hit US troops and that the Americans would warn their allies, the officials said.
But the Russians still likely achieved their goal of "sending a message" to the US that they can strike without being worried about retaliation, one official said.
There have been a number of 'close calls' between US and Russian troops operating in Syria over the years. Russian forces are there at the invitation of the Syrian government, while President Assad has called the Americans hostile foreign occupiers and demanded they withdraw. Sometimes the rival convoys block each other in standoffs on key Syrian roadways near areas of the US occupation, which is heaviest in the northeast.

However, some observers are seeing in this month's strikes near US positions a deliberate signal that things are intensifying related to Ukraine, and the Kremlin is engaged in muscle-flexing in the face of the some 900 US troops still in Syria.

Damascus: Israel Carries Out Rocket Strikes Against Syria, Injuring Two Civilians in Tartus

By Evgeny Mikhaylov - 3 hours ago (Updated: 2 hours ago)
The reports about the strikes come just a few weeks after Syria accused Israel of conducting missile attacks, saying that they left the runways at Damascus airport out of service.

Syria stated that an Israeli strike wounded two civilians - a man and a woman - near the coastal city of Tartus.

"At around 06:30 a.m., Israel carried out an air aggression firing several missiles from the Mediterranean Sea west of Tripoli [Lebanon] at several poultry farms in the area of Al Hamidiya south of Tartus. This resulted in two civilians being injured", the statement said.

Several photos, purportedly depicting the aftermath of the strike have been circulating online.

Over the past years, Damascus repeatedly accused the Israel Defense Forces of carrying out multiple strikes on the Syrian territory. The IDF has taken responsibility only for a small part of those attacks. According to Israel, the military has been targeting Iranian and pro-Iranian troops allegedly deployed on Syria's soil – an allegation that Tehran dismisses.
