Shooting at shopping mall in Munich

The statemets from the police chief after it was over:
Can you briefly say what they say?

Haven't watched all of it yet, but he says for example that there were reports about 3 perpetrators and that a car with two people was leaving the shooting scene very fast. They tracked them down and they were not connected to the shootings.

I would assume that those two people might have left the scene so fast, because they wanted to get away from the shooter, and people around then called the police and assumed those two guys were fleeing because they had something to do with it.

A professional shooting team, of two shooters, isn't likely to drive away quickly from such a scene IMO. Unless they are no professionals and/or they were cought by others and had to leave quickly.

The explanation of the police chief kind of makes sense to me so far.

And the latest statements:

He starts of with making clear that there was only one shooter. He says something like: "Because of the detailed evestigations, there are absolutely no indications of other shooters" and because of that, they are now also "absolutely certain that this is the case".

Further he makes it clear right at the beginning that they couldn't find any connections to IS and that he was no refugee and had stuff in his appartment about amok.

Interesting Stats. Condolences to those effected.

Security tight in Munich after mall shooting
PressTV News Videos
Police are maintaining a heavy presence around the shopping mall where the assailant opened fire indiscriminately, killing at least nine people before turning the gun on himself. More than 20 others have also been wounded, with three of them in life-threatening condition. The assailant's motive remains unknown. The Munich police chief says the 18-year-old German-Iranian attacker appears to have acted alone. Hubertus Andrae also says it’s premature to judge whether the incident was an act of terror. Footage shows the attacker shouting that he was born in Germany.

As was said in the news referring to the press conference, he used a Glock 9mm gun, and they found 600 rounds in his appartment. The gun was illegal, the serial number was filed out. He supposedly also hacked a facebook account to invite people to the McDonald's restaurant. Plus, according to Germany's interior minister, he was very active on social media in the past, but they are still analyzing the data.

German minister rejects connection attackers with Islamists and says: " 'curves are violent video games".
Also, it is claimed that the attacker was a victim of mobbing in school.

Unfortunately for these claims, I found only articles in Croatian, so here "translation":

I noticed as well that the interior minister (de Maizière) said something like "only if we have analyzed his social media data will we be able to say if something could have been done prior to the event. But that is more a question for his friends and relatives and not for the security services".

This is actually quite on point I think, and a far cry from the usual "we need more surveillance" reactions by the officials. However, the Bavarian police managed to secure additional funds after the attack...
