Unfortunate glitch, she was right in the middle of explaining something very important :( I hope you get her back on the line.

Indeed, the timing was peculiar.

This looks like a good link on the basic frameworkink of Neurofeedback: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130896102

And Wkipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurofeedback

Anybody else know of links pointing to good information on Neurofeedback?

This was interesting.

I have significant doubt that an essential psychopath would ever seek treatment of any kind for what they do not see as anything but a personal advantage over most people. Those that would seek treatment would likely suffer from a spectrum of issues that originated in early life. So I would think that NG is primarily seeing patients from the latter group - not essential psychopaths.

On NG's EEG neurofeedback work, I think it is very effective for many - probably everyone that would like to get more insight and control into their brainwave states. For an extended period in the past I experimented with both entrainment (light/sound) and EEG machines, and using the two together so that you get direct feedback on what a light/sound program is actually doing and then relating that to what is perceived during the session.

I agree with NG about the caution for entrainment and the particular programs used. But if pathology (emotional, trauma, etc) is not an issue, then the primary effect is to run the brain through healthy EEG spectra (frequencies) - this can remove "stuck" areas in the spectrum and exercise healthy dynamic range.

So, if you combine entrainment (light/sound - like the David machine she mentioned) with EEG measurement (for feedback or post measurement analysis), then you get a pretty powerful personal tool.

It was my first time listening to the Sott Talk Radio Show life, and I'm so glad that I tuned in this particular one. Nora was an amazing guest, and I especially loved the whole discussion on the topic of neurofeedback, since I haven't heard of that before. And oh boy, it was so interesting and exciting. The whole talk, really.

Thank you so much, Sott crew! And to those people who provided us here with links - thanks guys.

I'll be sure to listen to the radio more often from now on. It seems like I've really missed a lot of good stuff.

SOTT Talk Radio is batting 1000 lately! Another one hit out of the park! Great show, guys!

I kept on thinking, "she's not talking much about diet, but man this is interesting!"

I'm very curious about trying neurofeedback. Did anyone catch that names of the technology Nora recommended the practitioners be using?
