Actually, she doesn't say that they are friendly, but that the sounds are coming from the sky and try to frighten us.

And then the mother asks the kid what is it, and the kid answers that they either drip or dig up in the sky (depends if the kid made the accent right) and that they are far away. And that they are scary. Then she says that she wants to see them using microscope. And the mother replies that she can't see sounds through microscope. The kid then asks if maybe there are microbes. :)

Thanks for clarifying, that was probably the reason the comment was removed, it wasn't true, just someone trying to make it look creepier.

If the sounds were coming from the sky you'd expect atleast a glance, then again it seems cityfolk are as mentioned living inside their tapioca minds and don't really take notice unless it effects their person, or there is a visual to catch or something buggingly high pitched, and it could be dismissed as 'road maintenance' blending with the overall din of citys. I also had the 'it's fake' when I saw the dog not taking notice, then again it's one of those highly domesticated types which are probably also instinct wounded.

If I had heard something like that in real, I would notice it, and do nothing to see what it is. What can anyone does in such situation except to speculate? Its better to stay calm and wait.

Is there only one footage of this very phenomenon on the youtube? Maybe it could be that someone played this through loud speakers? Buildings are very close and there would be echo, and there is many sounds like this one for download from the internet. Usually for movies or games special effects. I would describe this as "sound of old rusty metallic door in the huge empty concrete hall" it sounds very industrial.

But, it can be really anything.

It is also strange to me that the animals also are not disturbed at all. In my town in the last few days there is festival and loud music (more like noise) is all over, dogs and cats are looking like they are noticing it, looking to the direction where the sound comes, pointing their ears, even barking.

It does have a metal on metal sound, almost like a huge metal door swinging on it's hinges.

It sounds creepy like some movie effect. If some big monster like Godzilla popped out, it would be fitting. Some of the planetary sounds posted reminded me of that sound the face of Mars made in the movie Mission to Mars.

Here's another one, this time from Odessa City Ukraine on Saturday.

Similar sounding though indistinct compared to the Kiev recording. Still, if you were going to fake it you'd probably make it loud like the Kiev one so maybe it has that in it's favor?

The two cities share roughly the same latitude, Kiev approx 30/30 - Odessa 30/40. I have no idea whether that means anything in relation to the sounds so just fwiw.

This one's been removed. I shared the Kiev one with some coworkers and asked what they think, and answers ranged somewhere between "it's a plane" to "it's fake" to "construction workers". Laura's right about tapioca for brains, it is truly irrational "rationalizations" just to explain it away, even when the explanations blatantly do not fit what is heard. And this is professional systems analysts we're talking about, people paid to use clues to figure things out and solve problems all day.

These Odessa sounds are nearly identical to parts of the "Jupiter sounds" that have been discussed on this forum a while back (can't remember where):

They may even be the same, its a bit hard to tell, the sounds from Odessa video are kind of quiet, even on max volume.
