My Nov/Dec issue finally arrived yesterday. The postmark indicates it has been in transit for over 6 weeks! I always wonder about where things like that sit for such a long time when being delivered.

6 weeks??? Normally it takes only one. There where problems with the mail due to the crazy weather and the Christmas season. Hopefully we won't have the same problem with the next issues.

I'm thinking it's more than just holidays. Deliberate tampering?

My issue showed up at the end of last week, and was apparently in transit for nearly six weeks as well. It does seem a bit long, even considering the holidays and weather.

Unfortunately, I seem to only receive the magazine during the final few days of the second month it is published for - which is a little frustrating. I live in Melbourne, Australia, and I am once again waiting for the latest issue. Would anyone by chance know whether these delays will continue to occur for international subscribers?

Hi Wisteria,

As far as I know there is a plan in motion to 'project' the DCM's content forwards somewhat so that by the time subscribers get their copy, the content is not 'out of date' and maintains topical relevancy to that time of year.

We are removing month designations from the magazine since the content is never out of date. People don't realize that nearly all magazines that have a "Month" designation are planned and the content decided upon, up to six months in advance and a magazine is NOT a newspaper with time sensitive content. But, like National Geographic, which is only numbered, DCM is concerned with timeless content. We did include some holiday material in this last issue which, unfortunately, did not reach the readers before the holidays began! For that, we are sorry, and in future, we will include such things at least one issue in advance of a holiday.

So, from now on, there will be no "month" on the cover, only an issue number and sometimes the magazine will be very big because the content demands it and we don't plan on standardizing the size artificially.

Mine arrived last week--no worries--just took a little longer for what ever reason. Eliminating the month designations make sense as they are artifical boundries that have little or nothing to do with the content produced--it just sets up concerns for delivery that are unnecessary. The magazine is incredible--I am still amazed at the quality all around--writing, editing, design, details and variations of the content, the glossy cover and heavy weight paper are all a thrill for bibliophiles like me who still enjoy the printed page so much. Thank you all who contributed to the magazine--it is well worth waiting for.

I just got my DCM issue No. 12 (Nov.-Dec. 2010). It was post marked Dec. 10, 2010. Better late than never!!! I'm starting to read it right away.

It's a good idea to eliminate month designations, in any case.

No need to apologize for the delay, some things are out of your control. After all, as you say the content is not time dependent, and they say hunger is the best sauce! I know I was really looking forward to getting the magazine and I am enjoying the content. Thank you for all of your hard work.

What happened to non-anticipation? :P

Yeah, "no dice" :P The scoop is that it's full of amazing content, including a ground breaking article by Laura with information that you won't be able to find anywhere else! It is an issue that we all should share as much as possible!
