'The Political Compass' Test

We all fall in the left lower quadrant which means we should naturally lean left politically. But the left is being weaponized by ideological extremist so we feel the need to look to the right. Interesting

Added: I just read what Laura wrote. I agree some questions were not something I felt decisive on. I still think I have the tendency to lean a little left just because right now in the States we really need to put a stop to the excessive military spending and invest that money back here in infrastructure and healthcare. To name just a couple of areas.

Except the Left has become just as pro-war as the traditional Right.

I'm glad you said that because I wanted to clarify a little. You're absolutely right and nowhere is the fact that the game is rigged and the two party system is two sides of the same coin more apparent than in the Democratic run up to the primaries. They're supposed to be for the little guy but the hypocrisy is blatant when all the candidates who would actually help the American people rather than the MIC or corporate interest are being smeared and marginalized and misrepresented by the media. It's really in your face for anyone with two neurons firing.

So yeah, but there are candidates who are not that way.

When I think about why I say I still have left leaning tendencies and the results for this test made sense to me, I think what it comes down to is caring about what happens to common person and masses. I don't know that it means being liberal, but I've seen the Left in the US as representing the masses in the past until the Democrats became what they have in recent years. And the people we have identified as exceptional, such as JFK, Putin, Caesar, seem to all have this in common. And I think this is what draws a lot of people to Trump, since they seem him as caring about them and against the system which exploits them.

Did not expect this :)

these questions were frustratingly simplistic to me. I’m not certain they can accurately portray someone’s stance in the complex political situations we’re currently forced to wade through.

I’m usually always scored as a middle minded libertarian leftist but in my little debates with the world out there, people are persistently pegging me as either extreme on the spectrum, incapable of seeing common sense in these complex issues.

You’re pro abortion? You’re left wing!
Wait, you’re anti vaccine though, so you’re alt-right!
Oh you support gay marriage? I was wrong, you’re clearly a leftist snow flake!
But wait, you don’t support adoption to homosexual couples!? Nazi!

Etc, etc, etc

Yeah, I am left/liberal again as well. My personal take on this, that we had a shift of "The Overton Window", and that's why our reasonable views considered to be more conservative nowadays. But tests like this are not sophisticated enough to pinpoint the difference or the shift, and that's why they still peg us in the liberal corner. ;-) This could be a good lesson for the new "progressives", if they were willing to see :-D
