Venezuela Oil: US Declares War on 'Narco-Terrorism'

The US picked right this moment to attack - when Chinese officials were visiting Maduro. So much for the president of peace. And what a way to start the year. :-(

It kind of looks like a deal was cut somewhere. With china? Or with other elements of Venezuelan government? Anything is just speculation at this point.

From what we "know" now, they basically walked in the front door and took Maduro with no resistance, not even a MANPAD fired.

“Latin America must remain a zone of peace, as it declared itself in 2014,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in response to the US attack on Caracas.

“Venezuela must be guaranteed the right to determine its own destiny without any destructive, let alone, external military intervention,” it said in a statement.

Moscow supports the call by the Venezuelan authorities and the leaders of Latin American countries to hold an immediate meeting of the UN Security Council, the ministry added.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has accused the US of carrying out “an act of armed aggression” against Venezuela and expressed grave concern over the situation.

“The pretexts used [by Washington] to justify such actions are unfounded. Ideological hostility has triumphed over businesslike pragmatism and willingness to build relationships based on trust and predictability,” it said in a statement.

The ministry noted that it is crucial to prevent further escalation, urging the two sides to focus on finding a way out of the crisis through dialogue. Moscow is ready to support such negotiations, it stressed.

Delcy Rodríguez issued an official statement acknowledging that they do not know the current whereabouts of Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores. Following the military incursion in the early hours of January 3, the Chavista official described the situation as “brutal” and denounced that Caracas, the birthplace of Simón Bolívar, “has been violated, attacked, and assaulted.”
In a statement on her Telegram account, she says:

Venezuela condemns and denounces the extremely serious military aggression by the government of the United States of America, which constitutes a flagrant violation of Articles 1 and 2 of the Charter of the United Nations, which enshrine respect for sovereignty, the legal equality of States, and the prohibition of the use of force.

So here's the narrative, and it's hilarious.

It wasn't an invasion, not a war, not even a military skirmish.

It was just the execution of an arrest warrant. And the bombs and missiles fired were to protect those US personnel executing the arrest warrant.

All legal, see?

Maybe the real deal in Venezuela was that China and Russia would not interfere with the removal of Maduro in exchange for the US' non-interference in the removal of the govts. in Taipei and Kiev.

The new tripartite global order emerges!

Eh...ignore the message it sends to Israel re: Iran!

Yes, it was similar to what happened in Panama with Noriega, who was accused of crimes related to drug trafficking and money laundering with Colombian cartels, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio also makes this clear:
