Venezuela Oil: US Declares War on 'Narco-Terrorism'

It should be really Brazil as a BRICS member and by far largest South American country that helps Venezuela (they have a border). Though they probably do not have resources for that and have been not that strongly aligned with Maduro. And Brazil likely is not interested in direct confrontation with the US either - unless they got a lot of support from China and Russia.
Same as with assad It have absolutely no sense to invest blood of russians or brasilians in corrupt government which will squander their sacrifices without blink of an eye, and really great part of venezuelans love yankees and would love to taste american dream
now they will

I'll leave this here: Trump at least says he wants to allow Venezuelan oil to continue being sent to China (Under what terms remains to be seen) , while at the same time indicating that US oil companies will invade the country. It should also be noted that more attacks could occur if the remaining pro-Maduro power in Venezuela doesn't "convert."
Trump’s remarks cap a dramatic few hours that began with reports of explosions in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, the scale of which became apparent only when the president said Maduro and his wife had been captured. Trump later told Fox & Friends that Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were being brought by boat to New York where they’d stand trial.

He said U.S. oil companies would head to Venezuela to operate in their oil reserves, and the military is set to attack again if necessary to secure the effort.

“We’re going to have our very large United States oil companies, the biggest anywhere in the world, go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure, the oil infrastructure, and start making money for the country, and we are ready to stage a second and much larger attack if we need to do so,” he said.
He was asked by Fox about China’s concerns about control of the oil and responded that he has a good relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“There’s not going to be a problem, and they’re going to get oil. We’re going to allow people to have oil, but we can’t take a chance after having done this incredible thing last night of letting somebody else take over, where we have to do it again,” he said.

Trump did not outline clear next steps for regime change, but noted Venezuela does have a sitting vice president and sent a warning to anyone who might continue supporting Maduro.

“Well, if they stay loyal, the future is really bad, and really bad for them. If they convert, there’s a conversion factor. I would say most of them have converted. He’s had very little loyalty,” he said.

It seems to me that certain notifications may have been given at the last minute (in addition to prior dealings and individuals at key points who were co-opted), but even if that were not the case, neither China nor Russia would have protested too much given their inability to respond in a way that could make a difference.

Machado and company were left out despite "having won" the 2024 elections, at least during the transition they plan to carry out.

The president of peace's declarations are not to be believed, he's proved himself to be a pathological liar and the US regime continues its crimes as it's been the case for decades. Actions matter, not declarations. The attack on Venezuela and the kidnapping of its president, the attempt on the Russian president's life, the threats on Iran, as his receiving of the good goy award from Santanyahu for his submission and complicity in genocide are a pattern, not a bug. The excuse of a good leader with corrupt advisers doesn't fly anymore, he's an adult on a second mandate, not a child.
At least, any pretense of international law have been shattered. There is no pretending anymore. The emperor is naked.

Delcy Rodríguez, who is currently in Moscow, according to an announcement made by RTVE's Canal 24 horas at 11:25 a.m., ...
This appears to have been fake news planted by US agents. She is in fact in Venezuela and has this evening (afternoon, Venezuela time) appeared on Venezuelan TV:

Venezuela's Vice President Delcy Rodríguez has been speaking on state television the last few minutes. She says Nicolás Maduro is Venezuela's only president.

It comes after US President Donald Trump earlier said she had been sworn as the country's new leader...

At least Russia sent their condemnations.

At first i thought that this was a deal between China Russia and the US. But this is terrible PR
It never seems possible that Russia and China can protect their allies.

And i don't know countries will have confidence to rely on Russia and China or do deals with them after this.

I will mention, i saw the story seconds after breaking and there were tags trending that were parroted just now in the press comference. "FAFO" and "Monrroe doctrine." A bit inorganic

Also, notice Soleimani was killed on Jan3 and Maduro gets kidnapped on Jan 3... is there a ritualistic element here as described in the last session 6/12/2025
Nah, Trump probably just likes the date because it 'brought him success' last time.

This is well done:

The main thing I took from this is how recent ideas from the right are being subverted under Trump into essentially justifying the pathology he's unleashing. For example, I didn't know Trump has officially designated antifa a terrorist group. The narrator says antifa isn't really a thing but an idea of different things so essentially what he's done is designated certain ideas as terrorism.

He connects this to what is happening in Venezuela because the pretext Trump is using their is around drug traffickers - now designated terrorists too.

So essentially all these stuff is or will be used as pretext for whatever aggression they have planned moving forward.

Added: I am seeing a lot of commentators on social media saying Tulsi Gabbard should resign.

Also, I heard one person saying getting control of Venezuela's oil will shield the US in the event Iran closes the strait of Hormuz in future. Essentially saying Iran will be attacked eventually as that leverage which they have will not be a thing anymore.

One obvious point to note about the US 'operation' is that normally regime change goes like this: Lots of air bombing with long-range missiles fired from high-altitude jets or warships for a few nights in a row, and then they go into whatever next phase there is. This time, the Apache and Chinook helicopters just 'walked' right into Caracas and no one shot not even a hand gun at them. Which means that the Americans were well confident that they didn't need to fear any air-defenses, which hints at treason and/or bribery of at least some of the Venezuelan armed forces in cahoots with the Americans.
Maybe, although Trump did also boast of exotic tech used to 'knock out power' in Caracas, so perhaps the US deployed electronic warfare measures the Venezuelans couldn't counter.

Indeed was fake news that Delcy, the vice president (now interim president) was in Russia or fled to Russia, she just declared emergency defense status and asked for the liberation of Maduro:

So, will the US use Maduro’s capture as the ultimate negotiation threat against Venezuela military or leadership in place? Did Trump mandated the capture right before Venezuela could finish a new agreement with China? Having the diplomatic people there still. The US has not control of Venezuela as of yet. But it will be interesting to see how this will develop. At this points, a lot of things are open for interpretation or in a gray area.

If Trump capitulates to Israel and attacks Iran for a second, and probably much more intense time, one very likely outcome of such a conflict (as has been mentioned here previously) is Iran's closing of the Strait of Hormuz - which would have some big knock-on effects and ultimately send energy prices and inflation higher in the US (among many other places).

You have to wonder if, as part of the administration's calculations, "getting our oil back" from Venezuela - is in some way an effort in mitigating what they see as an inevitable outcome of a new and larger attack on Iran; taking Venezuelan oil being a way to help keep the US afloat as energy shortages and higher prices for everything would very likely hit home and anger Trump's base even further.

Edited for grammar

Indeed. When one thinks that in the last year, the leadership of Gaza was eliminated, the Hezbollah leader, Nashrallah and many of the top leadership of Hezbollah were eliminated, an assassination attemp on Putin and now the kidnapping of the elected president in Venezuela. It has been quite a year and the recklessness is only increasing. Israel did use the semi-coup in Venezuela to tell Iran to watch and learn from it. In other words, Israel is itching to bomb Iran again and with backing from Trump.

It signals that the elite is desperate and is now ready to unleash unprecedented chaos and terror with only the tiniest veil of pretense anymore. And as usual, there is likely to be an unforeseen backlash.

Regarding China then it has made big investments in Venezuela not least in the oil and gas sector. One could imagine as a possibility that China might use their dominant control of physical silver as a leverage but time will tell.

Venezuelan oil industry is down from 3.5 million b/d to 1 million b/d. I asked Grok how long it would take and it said that they could it somewhat up in the relatively short term BUT that a return to 3 million b/d could take 8-10 years. It said that it took 8 years to get Iraqi oil industry back to 2003 levels. So while Trump thinks instant gratification, oil and money then the reality is different. So if Iran blocks the Hormuz strait, then Venezuela is not going to be what will help the US keep afloat with oil in the short term. That is not even adding some resistance in Venezuela from such a US oil grab into the equation or instability in the US in the time frame of 8-10 years.
