At this time, I'm listening mostly Russian and Ukranian folk music. One is "The night is so full of moon light and stars" (sorry, my translation) here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkayYmlzWJU and the other - "It's very bright in my room" (my translation again :)) here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XGtczx98u0 The voices of the women singers are just amazing, osit. It a very uplifting music for me. If someone needs the English translation, don't hesitate to ask: I'll try to do it myself or will look for translation on the Internet.
Oh, and how I could forget the Schedryk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HERnFfbcIxY :)
These are beautiful! Can I have an English translation?
Hi, SMM. I found translations of the first two songs on the Internet, although they're not very good, osit. I probably couldn't do a better job, so here you go. :) The second one here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XGtczx98u0 is titled
In My Room or
Full of light is room of mine...
Full of light is room of mine.
Light is coming from afar.
So brightly heavens shine
Twinkling with a bright night star.
Keeping silence all the time
Dear mother takes a pail.
Stars above still brighter shine
And the water tastes like ale.
Dark-red flowers of mine
In my garden all did die.
And in low waters' clime
Soon the boat will rot and die...
Shadow from willow, like lace,
Slumbers softly on my wall.
Tomorrow's day, I'll face,
Will be troublesome all-in-all.
I'll be constructing canoe.
Till nigth star arises at noon.
I shall water flowers too
Thinking of my own doom.
I don't know who made the translation. It was posted on many different sites. It's pretty close to the original text in meaning, except for a couple of things:
first, the second verse
"Keeping silence all the time
Dear mother takes a pail.
Stars above still brighter shine
And the water tastes like ale"
doesn't exist in the original text as a whole. It should be only "Dear mother of mine will take the pail and bring some water silently";
second, in the 3rd verse here in "Tomorrow's day, I'll face, Will be troublesome all-in-all", when it should be "Tomorrow, under it I will have a busy day," osit;
third, and this is a serious flaw in translation, in the last verse is the last word 'doom'. It should be 'destiny', instead. The word 'doom' rhymes here, but it completely distorts the meaning. :O
The translation of the first song here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkayYmlzWJU
The night is so bright
That under the full moon
A needdle is easy to find.
Come out, my loved one,
Tired from working [so] hard,
Into the garden at night.
As we sit down
Together under the tree,
I feel as rich as The King!
Look how pretty
The silver fog's spreading
Over the grass in the field.
Don't be afraid, darling,
To make your pretty feet
Wet in the early thick dew.
I'll pick you up,
And will carry around
As long as you want me to do.
Don't be afraid of the cold
Under the moonlight
The air is quiet and calm
I will embrace you
And hold to my burning heart
You will stay warm in my arms.
