casper,

The voice of Vinko Coce has a very beautiful tenor voice. I really liked the music and video of the seaside areas. The Croatian language sounds very flowing with music. Thanks! :)

Incubus - When It Comes

It's coming around again
They're letting it out again, again X4

When it comes, it comes abrupt
And it feels, it feels like trading brains with an imbecile
For real

Yes I feel emphatic about not being static
And not buying philosophies that are sold to me, no, at a steal

Just when you thought, it was safe to think
In comes mental piracy, and NO

What I'm looking for (for)
Can not be sold to me
I wish they all would stop trying
Cuz what I want, and what I need, is and will always BE FREE

It's coming around again
They're letting it out again, again X2

When it comes, it comes unannounced
And it feels like a matador is taunting me with his reddest red cloth
And I am the bull

Yes I feel emphatic about not being static
And not eating the bullshit that's being fed to me
Cuz now I'm full

Just when you thought, it was safe to think
In comes mental piracy, and NO!

What I'm looking for (for)
Can not be sold to me
I wish they all would stop trying
Cuz what I want, and what I need, is and will always BE FREE

It's coming around again
They're letting it out again, again

:headbanger:

It was one of my favourite songs during my teenage years

Yas, I see why you re-remember this song. It is amazing how music brings to our remembrance those things that have meaning for us. I know you have been through some tough times recently and I hope you continue to share your thoughts and experiences with us. Thanks for expressing how you feel through music. The Cs say "Music is Good". I don't know why I have been slow to pick up on their thoughts but I do see that there are messages and support in music that can not come home to us quite as clear as other mediums. Yes, they are letting it out again but this time so are we, and NO. May you freely find the support you need on the forum. :) :headbanger:

Thanks gotacobol. For me, this song was more about my irritation towards school and the lies they taught me there... :P

Yas, the song, When It Comes by Incubus takes me back to my high school days. Pretty sure I still have that album somewhere.

A favorite of mine from that same album was Pardon Me:

Cleo,

Wow, what an education for an old "Fa_t" I wish I had been paying more attention to some of the newer music (in my case decades). Yes, I see what you are trying to relate to. I know this is a crazy time to be born. I think if you can hang in there maybe some of us old "far_s" will catch up.

Pardon me while I burst
Pardon me while I burst

A decade ago I never thought I would be a twenty-three
On the verge of spontaneous combustion, woe is me
But I guess that it comes with the territory
An ominous landscape of never ending calamity

I need you to hear, I need you to see
That I have had all I can take
And exploding seems like a definite possibility to me

So pardon me while I burst into flames
I've had enough of the world and its people's mindless games
So pardon me while I burn and rise above the flame
Pardon me, pardon me, I'll never be the same

Not two days ago I was having a look in a book
And I saw a picture of a guy fried up above his knees
I said I can relate 'cause lately I've been thinking of combustication
As a welcomed vacation

From the burdens of the planet earth
Like gravity, hypocrisy and the perils of being in 3-D
But thinking so much differently

Pardon me while I burst into flames
I've had enough of the world and its people's mindless games
So pardon me while I burn and rise above the flame
Pardon me, pardon me, I'll never be the same, never be the same

Pardon me while I burst into flames
Pardon me, pardon me, pardon me

So pardon me while I burst into flames
I've had enough of the world and its people's mindless games
So pardon me while I burn and rise above the flame
Pardon me, pardon me, I'll never be the same
Pardon me, I'll never be the same

I kind of remember when I was 23 but I can only imagine what it has been like for some of the younger members of the forum. Maybe you can help the ones who are closer to your age to relate to understand what is "going on", "mindless games" and all. :) Now I think will just go and "burst into flames". :(

Oh! I also loved this one. For me, it was some sort of WAKE UP music. You know, you just see all your peers doing silly stuff and playing mindless games while you know there's much more. In my case, I was really concerned about the situation on the world, I wasn't 23 yet, so it was quite an immature concern maybe. But I was just fed up of my classmates being so indifferent and all that. So this song was good for expressing that and I loved it when they say "AND RISE ABOVE THE FLAMES". Because their saying that even if you've got this fed up feeling, it's like the process of leaving that insanity behind and rising as a new person...

Really like Incubus' Make Yourself album as well, and their songs Privilege, Pardon me, Drive and the DJ Jam"Battlestar Scralatchtica" - my other favourite song is New Skin from their first album S.C.I.E.N.C.E...lyrics below

At first I see an open wound
infected and disastrous
It breathes chaotic catastrophe
it cries to be renewed
Its tears are the color of anger,
they dry to form a scab
To the touch, its stiff and resilient,
underneath, the new skin breathes
As outwardly cliche as it may seem,
yes, something under the surface says,
"C'est la vie"
It is a circle, there is a plan
dead skin will atrophy itself to start again
Look closely at the open wound
see past what covers the surface
Underneath chaotic catastrophe,
creation takes stage.
Its all been saved
with exception for the right parts
When will we be new skin?
Its all been seen with exception for what could be
When will we be new skin?
Fallacious cognitions
spewed from televisions
do mold our decisions.
So stop and take a look,
and you'll see what I see now

Haven't heard them in a while, and this definitely brought back memories of high school days :)

S.C.I.E.N.C.E has some great songs, yeah! :D

I also haven't heard them for a while and I didn't like their new stuff so I don't really follow them anymore. I still think some of their old lyrics are really insipiring as you can see... ;D

Here's another one that (for me) talks about being your own master and driving yourself through life.

Thanks kalibex, I like the words above. And I like the sound too. Great harmony and instrumentals.

IMO there are definite hints of STO inspiration peppered amongst Scholz's lyrics.

That's not counting the effect of the actual melodies (not sure who was most responsible for that in the band).

For the last two weeks "The Snowbird" as sung by Liv Maessen in 1970 has been running through my brain like a meme. Liv had the most stunning voice.

The funny thing is, it's not even winter yet!

MusicMan,

I always liked that song too. I only remember Anne Murray's version but I like Liv's voice too. Here is Anne Murray's version with some nice snowy pictures. Just get out your skis and snowshoes and enjoy. We could try flapping our "butterfly wings" too I guess... :P

Here's an "Oldie" that I listen to and like to improvise along with. For me it still seems to say some relevant things.

This is originally by Marvin Gaye What's Going On from the 70s-80s

Thanks to naorma's and luc's posts I found this Gurdjieff & de Hartmann's piece:

This musical piece from the great initiated George Ivanovich Gurdjieff and Thomas de Hartman is a must.

A work of research not yet published in Brazil, the trio Artur Andrés, Regina Amaral e Mauro Rodrigues (piano and flutes) shows that it is possible to use music in order to open spaces in culture obstacles between ocident and orient.

Sayids' and Dervishes' music is an opportunity for us to get in touch with the same atmosphere found in sacred rituals and dance, to which this music is destined for.

Flute sounds very appealing and soothing, at least to me, and gives an additional component to G's piece in the sense of meditation and reaching emotional level/center.

Yeah, I agree their first few albums were great but they kind of went off the rails a bit after Morning View IMO

I was always partial to The Warmth. Great track, there is a language warning on this one though!

"The Warmth"

I'd like to close my eyes and go numb
But there's a cold wind coming from
The top of the highest high rise today
Its not a breeze cuz it blows hard
Yes and it wants me to discard
The humanity I know, watched the warmth blow away
So don't let the world bring you down
Not everyone here is that f@$#%d up and cold
Remember why you came and while you're alive
Experience the warmth before you grow old
So do you think I should adhere
To that pressing new frontier
And leave in my wake, a trail of fear
Should I hold my head up high
And throw a wrench and spokes by
I'm leaving the air behind me clear
So don't let the world bring you down
Not everyone here is that fucked up and cold
Remember why you came and while you're alive
Experience the warmth before you grow old
So don't let the world bring you down
Not everyone here is that fucked up and cold
Remember why you came and while you're alive
Experience the warmth before you grow old
Before you grow old

I still like Liv's version more than Anne Murray's, her voice was so unusual. While I was checking that out, I had a listen to the version from Elvis - not bad!
Both of them had great graphics, but snow is not my scene thanks, brrr.
Give me shorts and thongs any day..

Yeahhh... I know what I see this as referring to....

The Voice

It's almost a feeling you can touch in the air
You look all around you, but nobody's there
It's been a long time now since you've been aware
That somebody's watching you

He's gonna get you

Sooner or later when your big chances come
You'll look for the catches, but there'll be none
Remember before you grab the money and run
That someone is watching you

He's gonna get you.

Before you run and hide
He's gonna get you
You got no choice
'Cause you can't escape the voice

Jumping with shadows that come up from behind
You're scared of the darkness that's there in your mind
You're frightened to move because of what you might find
Someone is watching you

He's gonna get you.

Before you run and hide
He's gonna get you
You got no choice
'Cause you can't escape the voice

Been taking a trip down memory lane on my ipod in the car - I played in a band back in the 80's. So much good music after the doldrums of the mid 70's.

Psychedelic Furs: President Gas (as referenced later by Green Day)

So may great lines styled by Richard Butler's incredible husky, gravelly, murky voice.
My faves:

"Open up your eyes
Just to check that your asleep again
President gas is president gas again..."

"He comes in from the left sometimes
He comes in from the right"

"Every day is happy days
It's hell without the sin, but
Don't cry, don't do anything
No lies, back in the government
No tears, party time is here again
President gas is up for president"

and the hysterically funny

"President gas on everything but roller skates"

Muse - Psycho

Your mind is just a program
And I'm the virus
I'm changing the station
I'll improve your thresholds
I'll turn you into a super drone (super drone)
And you will kill on my command
And I won't be responsible
