What are you listening to?

Yes - Heart of the Sunrise

Love comes to you and you follow
Lose one on to the heart of the sunrise
SHARP-DISTANCE
How can the wind with its arms
All around me

Lost on a wave and then after
Dream on on to the heart of the sunrise
SHARP-DISTANCE
How can the wind with so many around me
Lost in the city

Lost in their eyes as you hurry by
Counting the broken ties they decide
Love comes to you and then after
Dream on on to the heart of the sunrise
Lost on a wave that you're dreaming
Dram on on to the heart of the sunrise
SHARP-DISTANCE
How can the wind with its arms all around
Me
SHARP-DISTANCE
How can the wind with so many around me
I feel lost in the city

Lost in their eyes as you hurry by
Counting the broken ties they decided

Straightt light moving and removing
SHARPNESS of the colour sun shine
Straight light searching all the meanings
Of the song
Long last treatment of the telling that
Relates to all the words sung
Dreamer easy in the chair that really fits
You

Love comes to you and then after
Dream on on to the heart of the sunrise
SHARP-DISTANCE
How can the sun with its arms all around
Me
SHARP-DISTANCE
How can the wind with so many around me
I feel lost in the city

Depending of mood, but love: Radiohead's: No surprises, Creep, Fade Out, Karma Police...., Feist: How my heart behaves, Honey-Honey..., Kinnie Star: Alright, Sun again..., Fantcha: Sol Ja Camba, Damien Rice, Pink Floyd, Cranberries, Pretenders, Fleet Foxes, Bjork, Elbow, Freezepop, addore Portishead, Isobell Campbell, Magnet, PJ Harvey, could fly away with: Debussy, Pachabel, Puccini, Delibes, Albinoni or Dalmatian vocal ethno music, huh it's so hard to number all beautiful tunes that make my life easier........

Two pieces by Donal Lunny and his band, Coolfin - a beautiful, moving and breathtaking virtuoso display of Irish music. No wonder the musicians are enjoying themselves so much!

I recently been listening a lot to Ian Bostridge (tenor) singing J.S.Bach's cantata BWV82 "Ich habe genug". Bach is my absolute favorite composer and this cantata is just heartbreakingly beautiful - and tragic. Especially Ian's version wakes up strong emotions in me, I highly recommend listening to it. You can find the parts here:

1. part "Ich habe genug" _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTdWM6uoOxE&feature=related

2. part "Schlummert ein" _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTdWM6uoOxE&feature=related

3. part "Ich freue mich auf meinen Tod" _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7epquo3xr8s&feature=related

I'm hoping to sing this cantata myself one day, allthough I probably won't be doing as beautifully as Ian Bostridge. Cheers Ian, wonderful!

Boards of Canada - Children's prison

I think it portrays stage of growing up pretty good.

Not much lyrics, besides: "I guess I'm going up" (that's if I heard it right)

But text that flashes along the video has a nice message embeded.
I especially like the last 3 :)

Don't cross the street alone!
Hey, Come back

Can't you do anything right ??
you're still too little!
this is for your're own good

no never not guilty condemned.

Child Power !
This is our secret hideout
The kids shall overcome.

Don't let them catch you!
Watch out!!
They'll bleed you dry!

I went to the last concert ofNine Inch Nails in Paris, that was perfect... I felt the urge to cry a dozen times during the show, but I just retained myself, because of the audience, because of my little sister who went to the concert with me. But one song simply caught me.

Nine Inch Nails - Non-Entity

Piano version :

The version I witnessed :
_http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_awA7mzql6U

Lyrics :

The sky is not the same shade of blue
Every single thing
I believe isn't true
Missing in a maze of monochrome
How did I get here
How can I go home?

The echos in my eyes
Of all they used to see
Burning down the world
The ashes and debris
And all that's left of me
Non-entity

Try to stand in line
Try to obey
The ghosts of what I was keep getting in the way
Staring at the sun
Blinded by the light
Now I'm afraid I'm fading out of sight

The echos in my eyes
Of all they used to see
Burning down the world
Ashes and debris
And all that's left of you
And all that's left of me
All have washed away
Non-entity

The Way The Wind Blows

Now it's come to this
It's like were back in the Dark Ages
From the Middle East to the Middle West
It's a world of superstition

Now it's come to this
Wide-eyed armies of the faithful
From the Middle East to the Middle West
Prey, and pass the ammunition

So many people think that way
You gotta watch what you say
To them and them, and others too
Who don't seem to see things the way you do

We can only grow the way the wind blows
On a bare and weathered shore
We can only bow to the here and now
In our elemental war

We can only grow the way the wind blows
We can only bow to the here and now
Or be broken down blow by blow

Now it's come to this
Hollow speeches of mass deception
From the Middle East to the Middle West
Like crusaders in unholy alliance

Now it's come to this
Like we're back in the Dark Ages
Frome the Middle East to the Middle West
It's a plague that resists all science

It seems to leave them partly blind
And they leave no child behind
While evil spirits haunt their sleep
While shepherds bless and count their sheep

Like a solitary pine
On a bare wind-blasted shore
We can only grow the way the wind blows

While usually it is disappointing - subjective music is very hit-and-miss and individually so, and to me most music now feels hollow and meaningless, somehow "empty" - I went looking for music by means of searching for remixes of what I remembered to be "good" or interesting music back when I played games.

Checking a few tracks selected by feel, I found one (for me) apart from the others: _http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01258/

The remix is named "When All Hope Has Faded", and it consists to a large extent of what I subjectively feel to be triumphant movement within a sad melody - it "dances through a storm", if I am to put it in flowery language. It slightly stirred my all-too-torpid emotional center, and reminds me of the present situation in the world and how things might go in the end.

Bon Iver - For Emma (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VbEWj7Ihzs&feature=related)

Narrator:
(So apropos:
Saw death on a sunny snow)

Him:
"For every life..."

Her:
"Forgoe the parable."

Him:
"Seek the light."

Her:
"...My knees are cold."

(Running home, running home, running home, running home...)

Her:
"Go find another lover;
To bring a... to string along!"

"With all your lies,
You're still very lovable."

"I toured the light; so many foreign roads for Emma, forever ago."

Placebo - Running Up That Hill

_http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KEEXyRL0qE

It doesn't hurt me.
You wanna feel how it feels?
You wanna know, know that it doesn't hurt me?
You wanna hear about the deal I'm making?
You be running up that hill
You and me be running up that hill

And if I only could,
Make a deal with God,
And get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building.
If I only could, oh...

You don't wanna hurt me,
But see how deep the bullet lies.
Unaware that I'm tearing you asunder.
There's a thunder in our hearts, baby.
So much hate for the ones we love?
Tell me, we both matter, don't we?

You, be running up that hill
You and me, be running up that hill
You and me won't be unhappy.

And if I only could,
Make a deal with God,
And get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building,
If I only could, oh...

C'mon, baby, c'mon, c'mon, darling,
Let me steal this moment from you now.
C'mon, angel, c'mon, c'mon, darling,
Let's exchange the experience, oh...'

And if I only could,
Make a deal with God,
And get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems [x2]

'If I only could, be running up that hill.' [x7]

Kings of Leon - Wicker Chair (http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=CA&hl=en&v=HSaEqH6kSA8)

In your little white wicker chair
Unsuspicious nobody cares for you
You’re so fucked up again
You laugh at nothin’ in the pouring rain
Try to tell yourself you’re not insane
You fool, I hate you sometimes

Hey, you know it ain’t coincidental that you’re lost in place
It’s drippin’ off your face, and you’re losin’ your precious mind

Send me a postcard if you get that far
You got a couple pennies in your rusty jar
The truth you’ve been gone for awhile
It’s hard lookin’ at you when you look that way
With your one night stands and your sleep all days
Ooh you’re such a slut sometimes

Hey, you know it ain’t coincidental that you’re lost in place
It’s drippin’ off your face, and you’re losin’ your precious mind

You’re losing your mind

Hmm, not bad. I still prefer the original though. Kate Bush is amazing!

Vid is from the film 'The One' with Jason Statham and Jet Li, kinda liked that flick. Neat lyrics, thanks for the reminder of this tune (that is of course if it's the one you're talking about).
