Cul-de-sac

Wake up now, this is the time you've waited for.
Far below, where shadows fester as they grow, An army thousands strong, obsessed by right and wrong, They sense their time is coming near.
So they turn towards the light from their region of the night, Marching on and on, They near the air, it won't be long.

You know you're on the way out, It's just a matter of time.
You thought you'd rule the world forever, Long live the king, and don't spare the loser.

After all, you're not what you thought you were at all. You're just a natural fact, another cul-de-sac On nature's hard unfeeling trail.
Now all those dreams of old will be stories left untold, Cut off in your prime, extinct until the end of time.
You know you're on the way out, It's just a matter of time. You thought you'd rule the world forever, Long live the king, but don't spare the loser now...

Now the host emerges, and a shadow starts to fall. Not one knows what hit them, none can see at all.
Even as the end approaches still they're not aware, How can you fight a foe so deadly When you don't even know it's there?
And now that the job is almost done Maybe some escape? No! not even one!

You know they're on the way out, It's just a matter of time.
You thought you'd rule the world forever, Long live the king, and don't spare the loser.

thank you my "angelic soul family" to give me opportunity to learn the beauty of cosmic love ... to learn about life that is bigger than life

The wise man said just walk this way
To the dawn of the light
The wind will blow into your face
As the years pass you by

Hear this voice from deep inside
It's the call of your heart
Close your eyes and you will find
The passage out of the dark

Here I am
Will you send me an angel?
Here I am
In the land of the morning star

The wise man said just find your place
In the eye of the storm
Seek the roses along the way
Just beware of the thorns

Here I am
Will you send me an angel?
Here I am
In the land of the morning star

The wise man said just raise your hand
And reach out for the spell
Find the door to the promised land
Just believe in yourself

Hear this voice from deep inside
It's the call of your heart
Close your eyes and you will find
The way out of the dark

Thanks solarmind for your kind thoughts and the thoughts and music of Send me an Angel.

Just heard a song I hadn't heard by Dire Straights which was not their usual (whatever that is).

Love over Gold
You walk out on the high wire
you're a dancer on thin ice
you pay no heed to the danger
and less to advice
your footsteps are forbidden
but with a knowledge of your sin
you throw your love to all the strangers
and caution to the wind
And you go dancing through doorways
just to see what you will find
leaving nothing to interfere
with the crazy balance of your mind
and when you finally reappear
at the place where you came in
you've thrown your love to all the strangers
and caution to the wind
It takes love over gold
and mind over matter
to do what you do that you must
when the things that you hold
can fall and be shattered
or run through your fingers like dust

I was never a big opera fan, but I saw Puccini's Turandot live at an opera house about 15 years ago and it blew me away. Here's a good version that comes close to how I remember it - when I saw it live back then and the choir set in (here at about 4:05), I felt like I was beamed to another dimension! Still gives me the shivers...

Q: (Atriedes) If you could give 3 pieces of advice to the world, what would they be?
A: I was wrong to think I could change the masses by example. Humans are fickle and self-centered for
the most part. Thus, if you wish to really effect changes, it can only be done by early education, and
even then it is fragile and will not last. In the end you must be true to your own nature and fear
nothing.
If you do that you may make a difference after you are gone. That is not exactly what you are
looking for, but there are no 3 pieces of advice that serve all events.

We are not like all the rest
You can see us any day of the week.
Come around, sit down, take a sniff, fall asleep
Baby you don't have to speak.
I'd like to show you where it is
But then it wouldn't even mean a thing.

Nothing is easy, baby just please me
Who knows what tomorrow may bring.

I find this to be an interesting ditty: 'When the Cost Has no Value' by Moderate Rebels.

It seems to have a jaunty air that is 'slightly off', in that it appears jolly but has an uneasy edge to it.
The lyrics appear to be a somewhat naive observation on societal inequality but the music (for me) evokes that 'everything is fine (no it isn't) paradox that we live.

Worth a listen I feel.

A pretty nice one:

May God bless and keep you always, May your wishes all come true, May you always do for others And let others do for you. May you build a ladder to the stars And climb on every rung, May you stay forever young, Forever young, forever young, May you stay forever young. May you grow up to be righteous, May you grow up to be true, May you always know the truth And see the lights surrounding you. May you always be courageous, Stand upright and be strong, May you stay forever young, Forever young, forever young, May you stay forever young. May your hands always be busy, May your feet always be swift, May you have a strong foundation When the winds of changes shift. May your heart always be joyful, May your song always be sung, May you stay forever young.

That was beautiful Zak.

Young and old both seem to still be around, even father/daughter concerts happen. Ravi Shankar died December 11, 2012. His daughter Anoushka is accompanying him on this. His other daughter you may know as Norah Jones (Geetali Norah Shankar).

I just thought this was joyful.
