What are you listening to?

Something about this one makes me want to hone my sword

I just love this song, words of truth that do not change from time to time and neither from different countries.
“Solo de Pido a Dios” –León Gieco , music and lyric-

This one performed by Leòn Gieco and Mercedes Sosa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlVB9erD-Vw

Sólo le pido a Dios I only ask God
que el dolor no me sea indiferente that the pain may not be indifferent to me
que la reseca muerte no me encuentre may the dry death does not find me
vacía y sola sin haber hecho lo suficiente. alone and empty without had done enough

Sólo le pido a Dios I only ask God
que lo injusto no me sea indiferente that injustice does not be indifferent to me
que no me abofetee la otra mejilla that it does not slap my other cheek
después de que una garra me arañó esta suerte. after a claw had scratched my luck

Sólo le pido a Dios I only ask God
que la guerra no me sea indiferente, that war may not be indifferent to me
es un monstruo grande y pisa fuerte it is a big monster and step on heavily
toda la pobre inocencia de la gente. upon all the naïve innocence of the people
Es un monstruo grande y pisa fuerte it is a big monster and step on heavily
toda la pobre inocencia de la gente. upon all the naïve innocence of the people.

Sólo le pido a Dios I only ask God
que el engaño no me sea indiferente that lying does not be indifferent to me
si un traidor puede más que unos cuantos if a traitor can do more that a few
que esos cuantos no lo olviden fácilmente. then those few won´t forget too easily

Sólo le pido a Dios I only ask God
que el futuro no me sea indiferente that the future may not be indifferent to me
deshauciado está el que tiene que marcharse hopeless is the one that has to leave
a vivir una cultura diferente. and to live in a different culture

Sólo le pido a Dios I only ask God
que la guerra no me sea indiferente, that war may not be indifferent to me
es un monstruo grande y pisa fuerte it is a big monster and step on heavily
toda la pobre inocencia de la gente. upon all the naïve innocence of the people
es un monstruo grande y pisa fuerte it is a big monster and step on heavily
toda la pobre inocencia de la gente. upon all the naïve innocence of the people

Denez Prigent and Lisa Gerrard - An Hini A Garan('The One I love')

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDyi_iyQZSc&a=6XWpfnSClU8&playnext_from=ML

An hini a garan, gwechall bihan er gêr
Pa oamp tostig an eil, an eil ouzh egile
Va c'halon ne gare, gare nemet unan
Pa oan bihan er gêr an hini a garan

An hini a garan, 'm eus kollet da viken
'Mañ degouezhet pell ha ne zistroio ken
Ha setu ma kanan, kanan keti ketañ
Ha setu ma kanan d'an hini a garan

An hini a garan, un deiz 'n eus va losket
Aet eo d'ar broioù pell, d'ur vro n'an'vezan ket
Aet eo d'ar broioù pell da c'hounit e vara
Kollet, kollet un deiz, an hini a garan

In English:

The one I love, before, when we were little at home
when we were so near to each other
My heart was loving ony one
When I was little at home, the one I love

The one I love, I lost forever
Gone far away and will never come back
And this is what I sing for the one I love

The one I love one day left me
For a far away land
A land that I don't know
Lost, lost one day, the one love

Now there are some old memories... especially Kristofferson - as there was an old album kicking around our house when I was a kid.

Anything by Lamb, but God Bless and Gorecki are my favourites
Saucerful of Secrets by Pink Floyd. Great early stuff.
The Soft Parade by The Doors. Awesome 12 minute magnum opus. It's getting harder trying to describe the concept of sailors to the underfed, indeed! Jim was a clever fool.
Dimensions of Sound by E-Z Rollers. Cosmic neuro funk.
Achilles Last Stand by Led Zeppelin. Spine tingling druidic metal dronefest, with the most devastatingly syncopated drumming I have ever heard.
Teflon by The Mars Volta. I have seen them live and they are unbelievably good, like Santana jamming with Chomsky.
Jesse by Mother Earth. Song for suicidally depressed people to cry tears of joy to.
Wildwood by Paul Weller. Love.
Manyme by esoteric technocrats Plaid. Very clever music with a sweet heart.
Fall on me by REM. Cry I will.
Together by Ray Buretto. This predates Stevie Wonder-funk and is awesomely political!
Prey by Recoil. Atmosphere is the transformative keystone hallmark of great art. To engage.
The Sleepless by Red Snapper. Mystical techno hymn.
Behind Blue Eyes by The Who. Scary ode to the introject and the dearth of empathy draining this planet of life.

Anyone who loves rock n' roll will have fun with these! :D

Rainbow in the Dark

When there's lightning
You know it always brings me down
Cause it's free and I see that it's me
Who's lost and never found
I cry out for magic
I feel it dancing in the light
It was cold, lost my hold
To the shadows of the night

No sign of the morning coming
You've been left on your own
Like a Rainbow in the Dark
A Rainbow in the Dark

Do your demons
Do they ever let you go
When you've tried do they hide deep inside
Is it someone that you know
You're just a picture
you're an image caught in time
We're alive you and I
We're words without a rhyme

There's no sign of the morning coming
You've been left on your own
Like a Rainbow in the Dark
Just a Rainbow in the Dark

When I see lightning
You know it always brings me down
Cause it's free and I see that it's me
Who's lost and never found
Feel the magic
I feel it floating in the air
But it's fear and you'll hear it calling you beware
Look Out!

There's no sight of the morning coming
There's no sign of the day
You've been left on your own
Like a Rainbow
Like a Rainbow in the Dark Yeah . . .
Your a Rainbow in the Da a a a a ark
Just a Rainbow in the Dark
No sign of the morning
Just a Rainbow in the Dark

I really love Dio too

No doubt he will continue writing music on 5D... Ronnie was kind and humble, truly a great and wonderful artist.

Another GREAT song, Dio in Rainbow with "Stargazer": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6IPBN6ARkE

I'm also reminded of the Dio tribute song (sort of) by Tenacious D - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uNS91GN0H4

Heaven and Hell

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htjz5pUOjaw

Sing me a song, you're a singer
Do me a wrong, you're a bringer of evil
The devil is never a maker
The less that you give, you're a taker
So it's on and on and on, it's heaven and hell, oh well

The lover of life's not a sinner
The ending is just a beginner
The closer you get to the meaning
The sooner you'll know that you're dreaming
So it's on and on and on, oh it's on and on and on
It goes on and on and on, heaven and hell
I can tell, fool, fool!

Well if it seems to be real, it's illusion
For every moment of truth, there's confusion in life
Love can be seen as the answer, but nobody bleeds for the dancer
And it's on and on, on and on and on....

They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
It's heaven and hell, oh well
And they'll tell you black is really white
The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls
It's heaven and hell, oh no!
Fool, fool!
You've got to bleed for the dancer!
Fool, fool!
Look for the answer!
Fool, fool, fool!

Yes Rise! No Quarter unledded has many great moments, like Friends and No Quarter itself. :)

I am also loving Breaking into Heaven by The Stone Roses. On this they have the majesty of Zeppelin. Plus the idea of breaking into heaven is a cracking one, a bit like getting out of a prison... ;)

Finally, I am appreciating XTRMNTR by Primal Scream. Radical music and very engaging on both psychological and geopolitical realities. Oh, and the version of Dylan's Maggie's Farm by Rage Against The Machine is like having jump leads for your soul.

Sad to hear about Dio, DCM bless, and travel well!

I can't get enough of this new tune "Rope and Summit" by Junip, a Jose Gonzales side project. I find it really beautiful and the lyrics are metaphorically quite appropriate for this forum, OSIT.
