What are you listening to?

Interesting side note: I posted an old Black Sabbath song, featuring Dio last night. As I thought back about when/where I first heard this album, I remembered something that always stood out: the album artwork.

Sorry, posting Mariza here again. But this song strangely talks directly to my emotional center - gives the strong and strange melancholic feeling of how everything in this world is just transitory but still so beautiful.

Mariza: "Há uma música do povo" (There is a music of the people,)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7X6bP7aiTI

There is a music of the people,
I cannot say whether it is a Fado
But hearing it has added to myself
A new rhythm that stayed...

Hearing it I am who I would be
If I could be what I wish...
It is a simple melody
Like those that teach you to live...

And I hear it swaying and alone...
And this is even what I wanted...
I lost my faith and my way...
And have been far from happy.

But it is so soothing
This vague and sad song...
That my soul is no longer weeping
Nor do I have a heart...

I am a foreign emotion,
An error of a dream that is gone...
Somehow I sing
And end up with a feeling!
---
Há uma musica do Povo,
Nem sei dizer se é um Fado –
Que ouvindo-a há um ritmo novo
No ser que tenho guardado…

Ouvindo-a sou quem seria
Se desejar fosse ser…
É uma simples melodia
Das que se aprendem a viver…

Mas é tão consoladora
A vaga e triste canção…
Que a minha alma já não chora
Nem eu tenho coração…

Sou uma emoção estrangeira,
Um erro de sonho ido…
Canto de qualquer maneira
E acabo com um sentido!

I can't get this song out of my head, someone brought this in to play with a band I am in. Unfortunately the lyrics are not too healthy:

1.
With tutti frutti soft drink, we're dancing and singing
and living it up, we'll smash the bottles.
R.
I had a lover, what can I do about it?
I'll die anyway.
2.
All the Roma are dancing, mother, are drinking together.
3.
Uncle Uvil is "lid drunk". His wife Marga is afraid
because she thinks he'll go off with someone else.

Maybe they all would be in better shape if they'd lay off the soft drinks.....

This is apparently from a movie called Gadjo Dilo, which I have not seen. A plot summary from imdb:

Stéphane, a young French man from Paris, travels to Romania. He is looking for the singer Nora Luca, whom his father had heard all the time before his death. Wandering along a frozen road, he meets old Izidor, a member of the Roma (Gypsy) and tells him of Nora Luca. Izidor seems to understand and takes him to his village. Stéphane believes that Izidor will take him to Nora Luca when the time has come. So, he lives in the Roma(Gypsy) village for several months. The other inhabitants dislike him at first (as he comes from those who call them thieves and attack their folks) but when they as they get to know him better, they grow to like him. In summer, the ice between him and beautiful Sabina finally cracks, and as she is able to translate between the Roma and him, Stéphane finds out that nobody ever understood a thing that he had said.

Love "Faith of The Heart" so much even learned F#m to play because of it, feeling same with this song as when listening or singing "Creep" or "Karma Police" of Radiohead, these songs tune me up on most simplest way.

Faith of The Heart - Rod Stewart

It's been a long road
Getting from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near

And I can feel the change in the winds right now
Nothing's in my way
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No there not gonna hold me back

Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

It's been a long night
Trying to find my way
Been through the darkness
Now I finally have my day
And I will see my dreams come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No there not gonna change my mind

Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

I've known a wind so cold and seen the darkest days
But now the winds I feel, are only winds of change
I've been through the fire and I've been through the rain
But I'll be fine

Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith

I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

It's been a long road

Oh, it's been long road

Kylie Minogue All The Lovers! I love her!!! and this song is just to good!

Dance
It's all I wanna do
So won't you
Dance
I'm standing here with you
Why won't you move
I'll get inside your groove
Cuz I'm on fire fire fire fire

It hurts
When you get too close
But baby it hurts
If love is really good
You just want more
Even if it throws you to the fire fire fire fire

All the lovers
That have gone before
They don't compare to you
Don't be running
Just give me a little bit more
They don't compare
All the lovers

Feel
Can't you see there's so much here to feel
Deep inside in your heart
You know I'm real
Can't you see that this is really higher higher higher higher

Breathe
I know you find it hard
But baby breathe
Lying next to me
Its all you need
And i'll take you there
I'll take you higher higher higher higher

All the lovers
That have gone before
They don't compare to you
Don't be running
Just give me a little bit more
They don't compare
All the lovers

Dance
It's all I wanna do
So won't you dance
I'm standing here with you
Why won't you move
Even if it throws you to the fire fire fire

All the lovers
That have gone before
They don't compare to you
Don't be running
Just give me a little bit more
They don't compare
All the lovers

Currently listening to this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOg1mxOFBzs Seekers of the Truth Part 11, my favourite by Gurdjieff. It aways reminds me of the Work, helps me remember my aim, sometimes reminds me of Fulcanelli and the completion of his Work. Too bad I cannot make an audio analysis of the notes, tones, frequencies in order to understand more about why Gurdjieff chose it and put it where it is.

Land of bear and
Land of eagle
Land that gave us birth and blessing
Land that pulled us ever homewards
We will go home across the mountains

We will go home, we will go home
We will go home, across the mountains
We will go home, we will go home
We will go home, singing our song

Hear our singing,
Hear our longing
We will go home across the mountains

We will go home, we will go home
We will go home, across the mountains
We will go home, we will go home
We will go home, we will go - home.

Ayreon is a progressive rock project by Arjen Anthony Lucassen. He composes the songs and plays most of the instruments and works in every album with several good vocalists (James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth), Daniel Gildenlöw (Pain of Salvation) are some of those).

River of Time- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XAPosjkbfQ&feature=related

Is it too late to prevent their fall
Are they ready for the key to it all
The mystery solved, the answer to life
The final solution, a chance to survive

We can save this ill-fated race
Who are lost in the ocean of space
Show them the way to reverse their decline
Guide them back on the river of time

Follow the wave, speed up the flight
Slow down time, faster than light
Unite the forces, take a giant leap
Bend the stream, dive into the deep

We can save this ill-fated race
Who are lost in the ocean of space
Show them the way to reverse their decline
Guide them back on a river of time

Send back visions of war and decay.
Paradigms of fear in a world of dismay.
Shape the present, alter the past.
Create a new future, one that would last

We can save this ill-fated race
Who are lost in the ocean of space
Show them the way to reverse their decline
Guide them back on a river of time

Looks like the guy is reading SOTT :)
