U2 and Brian Eno made the passengers record in 1995. Very experimental, and a real boon to get Luciano Pavarotti on board. The record seems to anticipate our modern age quite well I think. Very moving music, less rock n' roll, and all the better for that.
This past week I've been listening to U2 for the first time since 1995, they fell off my radar it's fair to say. Bono can come across as sanctimonious and annoyingly wrong-headed but this music still holds up remarkably well. Edge also is a very innovative guitarist. Amazing listening to music that I enjoyed as a teenager but didn't really understand. Ageing is fun!
i was at the live show at RED ROCKS Denver colorado (mid eighties)- love the first few albums ..
Bono imo - made the usual pact with the Devil to get rich - rub elbows with who ever ..
Edge remains good in my book ..ENO should be credited with helping the band in early daze as well....
