What are you listening to?

:) thumbs up Megan, Nocturne - Secret Garden is really beautiful. My grand daughter a couple slumber parties ago (over at our house) "couldn't sleep." So, I played this for her and she fell right off. Next morning she said, "Grandma, you have excellent taste in music."

Here is a link to it for your enjoyment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pShp8Liffa4&feature=colike

Someone asked about the meaning of "Come down off your throne." I think he's saying the addict acts like a king who commands his subject (his body) to take in toxic substances, even if obeying those commands hurts the subject (the body).

Oh wow, I didn't think I'd ever see the Dead popping up on here! They're the ones I got my username from! ;) Nice choice, IMO, MnSportsman!

Here's another one the members may like:

Grateful Dead - "Eyes of the World"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCy9k_RWlvA

Right outside this lazy summer home
You aint got time to call your soul a critic no.
Right outside the lazy gate of winters summer home,
Wondrin where the nut-thatch winters,
Wings a mile long just carried the bird away.

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world,
The heart has it's beaches, it's homeland and thoughts of it's own.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the mornin brings,
But the heart has it's seasons, it's evenins and songs of it's own.

There comes a redeemer, and he slowly too fades away,
And there follows his wagon behind him that's loaded with clay.
And the seeds that were silent all burst into bloom, and decay,
And night comes so quiet, it's close on the heels of the day.

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world,
The heart has it's beaches, it's homeland and thoughts of it's own.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the mornin brings,
But the heart has it's seasons, it's evenins and songs of it's own.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own,
And sometimes we visit your country and live in your home,
Sometimes we ride on your horses, sometimes we walk alone,
Sometimes the songs that we hear are just songs of our own.

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world,
The heart has it's beaches, it's homeland and thoughts of it's own.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the mornin brings,
But the heart has it's seasons, it's evenins and songs of it's own.

Dead songs are very mellow and relaxing, IMO:

The Grateful Dead - "Uncle John's Band"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSIajKGHZRk

Well the first days are the hardest days,
Don't you worry any more, 'Cause when life looks like easy
Street, there is danger at your door.
Think this through with me, let me know your mind.
Woh - oh, what I want to know, is are you kind?

It's a buck dancer's choice my friend; better take my advice.
You know all the rules by now and the fire from ice.
Will you come with me, won't you come with me?
Woh - oh, what I want to know, will you come with me?

Goddamn, well I declare, have you seen the like?
Their walls are built of cannonballs, their motto is
Don't tread on me. Come hear Uncle John's Band playing
To the tide, come with me, or go alone.

It's the same story the crow told me;
It's the only one he knows.
Like the morning sun you come and like the wind you go.
Ain't no time to hate, barely time to wait,
Woh - oh, what I want to know, where does the time go?

I live in a silver mine and I call it Beggar's Tomb;
I got me a violin and I beg you call the tune
Anybody's choice, I can hear your voice.
Woh - oh, what I want to know, how does the song go?

Come hear the Uncle John's Band by the riverside
Got some things to talk about, here beside the risin' tide
Come hear Uncle John's Band playing to the tide,
Come on along, or go alone,
He's come to take his children home.
Woh - oh, what I want to know, how does the song go?

Come hear Uncle John's Band by the riverside,
Got some things to talk about here beside the risin' tide.
Come hear Uncle John's Band playing to the tide, come on
Along or go alone, he's come to take his children home.

The Grateful Dead - "Franklin's Tower"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqQ-0n2I-4o

In another times forgotten space
Your eyes looked from your mothers face
Wallflower seed on the sand and stone
May the four winds blow you safely home.

Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew

Ill tell you where the four winds dwell
In Franklin's tower there hangs a bell
It can ring, turn night to day
It can ring like fire when you loose your way.

Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew

God save the child that rings that bell
It may have one good ring, baby, you can't tell
One watch by night, one watch by day
If you get confused listen to the music play.

(instrumental)

Some come to laugh their past away
Some come to make it just one more day
Whichever way your pleasure tends
If you plant ice you're gonna harvest the wind.

Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew

In Franklin's tower the four winds sleep
Like four lean hounds the lighthouse keep
Wildflower seed on the sand and wind
May the four winds blow you home again.

Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Youd better roll away the dew

I haven't listened to them in a while. Thanks for bringing back some happy memories for me, MnSportsman!

Chris Rea "The Road to Hell"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EBw_da7BZk

There a bunch of versions on youtube

Lyrics:

Well, I'm standing by a river
But the water doesn't flow
It boils with every poison
You can think of

And I'm underneath the streetlight
But the light of joy I know
Is scared beyond belief
Way down in the shadows

And the perverted fear of violence
Chokes the smile on every face
And common sense is
Ringing out the bells

This ain't no technological breakdown
Oh, no, this is the road to hell

And the road is jammed up with credit
And there's nothing you can do
It's all just bits of paper
Flying away from you

Oh, look out world
Take a good look what goes down here
You must learn this lesson fast
And learn it well

This ain't no upwardly mobile freeway
Oh, no, this is the road
This is the road
This is the road to hell

❤ Jon Anderson & Vangelis - I'll find my way home ❤

❤ I'll find my way home ❤

You ask me where to begin
Am I so lost in my sin
You ask me where did I fall
I'll say I can't tell you when
But if my spirit is lost
How will I find what is near
Don't question I'm not alone
Somehow I'll find my way home

My sun shall rise in the east
So shall my heart be at peace
And if you're asking me when
I'll say it starts at the end
You know your will to be free
Is matched with love secretly
And talk will alter your prayer
Somehow you'll find you are there

Your friend is close by your side
And speaks in far ancient tongue
A season's wish will come true
All seasons begin with you
One world we all come from
One world we melt into one
Just hold my hand and we're there
Somehow we're going somewhere
Somehow we're going somewhere

You ask me where to begin
Am I so lost in my sin
You ask me where did I fall
I'll say I can't tell you when
But if my spirit is strong
I know it can't be long
No questions I'm not alone
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home
