What are you listening to?

It's with this discovery played in live by a national orchestra that last year ended for me, I found it appropriate to share. It gave me goosebumps that I could only feel through the power of live instrumental music.
Full of hope, fueling faith.
Happy New Year Everyone !
Gustav Holst - Jupiter, The Bringer of Jollity

Jon Gomm - Passionflower

This piece has been rearranged for an acapella ensemble by Sam Robson. The original was a guitar piece!

I think it’s a great metaphor for someone in a limited environment reaching their higher potential.

Rolling Stones and Lady Gaga doing Gimme Shelter live. Gaga's channelling her inner Tina Turner on this one, surprisingly energetic showing from the old stagers here. The second track is an old cut, ruminating on the ageing process.

Ever felt trapped in a souring relationship? We all have, and Mick Jagger's had plenty. The first track is a hilarious blues canter, splendidly light hearted with canny lyrics. The second track is a paranoid funk groove ruminating on the burgeoning surveillance state in 1974 USA. The final track is one of the most outre, almost comically sexual tracks the Stones ever recorded, featuring Canned Heat's Harvey Mandel on atonal funk guitar on the original album recording from 1976. I bought these tracks in the summer of 1995 while living in London, as a student, a very nostalgic period in my life, I had great fun back then. I spent hundreds of pounds that summer amassing a sizeable record collection, which I have to this day, about 400 albums in total, my pride and joy along with my DVD and book collection. Needful things that bring the splendour back into life, food for the soul.

Led Zeppelin doing their downer bad acid trip behemoth, Dazed and Confused. Back when singer Robert Plant still had his bottom end range in his voice. A lot of this rendition is improvised live. Taken from the chaotic Albert Hall gig of 1970. I can plot a line of the nascent heavy music of 1967-75, from Cream to Hendrix, then came Zeppelin and Deep Purple, along with Black Sabbath. A lot of innovation came out in a febrile 7-8 year period. My favourite era for music by a mile, those guys were really testing the boundaries of what was possible in rock music.:cool2:

I find this piece of music absolutely incredible! A remarkable fusion of Rock, Jazz, and Classical styles rolled into one energetic work. Enjoy!

Faster moment spent spread tales of change within the sound
Counting form through rhythm electric freedom
Moves to counter-balance stars expound our conscience
All to know and see
The look in your eyes
Passing time will reach as nature relays to set the scene
New encounters spark a true fruition
Guiding lines we touch them
Our bodies balance out the waves
As we accelerate our days
To the look in your eyes
From the moment I reached out to hold
I felt a sound
And what touches our soul slowly moves as touch rebounds
And to know that tempo will continue lost in trance of dances
As rhythm takes another turn
As is my want I only reach
To look in your eyes
Cha Cha Cha Cha Cha
Cha Cha Cha Cha Cha
Cha Cha Cha Cha Cha

How Bill Clinton killed rock & roll and the radio (by signing the Telecommunications Act of 1996). Evolution of the corruption of the music industry.
