What's the weather where you are?

Here in the Northern Rivers of NSW we have just received the biggest rain dumping since the levy was built 12 years ago to protect the town of Lismore from regular floods. The levy was breached and within hours the town was flooded to around 2 metres, all in the business district, many small shops and cafes are going to have a massive cleanup. The area is already sodden from about 10 days of on and off rain, but this last 2 days was just heavy and heavier rain. Last night was all about high winds (I feared for my windows being blown in - hardly slept).

Travel safe Lindenlea. We've had crazy winds and heavy rain too, a few days ago here in the Mid-North Coast NSW Australia; certainly not as bad as the Qeensland and far north coast of NSW. A mild top of 21 degrees C, partly cloudy with some more rain predicted next week.

Jeudi 27 mars Depuis 13 heures, d'épais nuages blancs venus de la mer recouvrent tout le littoral de Nice à Monaco, suscitant beaucoup d'interrogations.

according to a more recent source the number of people missing is over 200 people

Tragic news from Colombia.

There was a localized storm during the last few days in Northeastern Spain. The medical emergencies spiked with several heart attacks occuring in a very short span.

We had snow this morning and not all of it is melting when it hit the ground. This is unusual but not unheard of for April. I remember another Easter with snow. It is a strange sight bushes and trees with new green and snow in it.

We are experiencing change in temperatures over here, two weeks ago, temperatures were reaching 29° in Mexico City, now we are at 17° with out of season rainstorms, and I noticed Popocatepetl's volcano has snow, and usually is white in winter. Overall, in the country, temperatures are too warm and authorities had announced severe rainstorms at the east side.

Almost the same in Split, Dalmazzia except volcano. Weather over weekend shifted from a kind of summer in April to a kind of winter... There was some comforting rain on Saturday, even birds enjoyed it - if according to there chirping. Today Boorah is howling accompanied with rain and some snow inland...

Here in the center of Sonora, Mexico: MAXIMUM: 37 ° C --- MINIMUM: 18 °

We are supposed to be in spring but this feels like summer. No rain is expected, the sky all blue.

Same here in Macedonia. Its almost a winter like weather here today. This morning the temperature was only 6 C and it was raining. At home we are still heating. It never happened before to heat up the home in the middle of April.
A new fresh snow can be seen at near mountains.
Every year the climate is colder and colder.

Here in the north of Switzerland (Zurich), the temperatures have dropped and we have had several snow showers yesterday and this morning. From my window, I can see that the trees are fully covered in snow just a couple of kilometers away. It would be too much to say that it is unusual, we just haven't been used to it so much for a couple of decades. For the vegetable and fruit growers it is not very good to have a very warm start to spring and then a big plunge in temperatures.

Speaking to my father, he said that there is Danish saying that says something like " a cold May gives a plentiful harvest". So cold springs are not unusual in human memory and can be quite good for plants and food production, but having a warm spring followed by cold weather with frost can be disastrous, as it can ruin the flowers and bee pollination, not to mention frost that kills exposed foliage and buds.

Speaking to a forester in France (Burgundy) a couple of weeks ago, he said that the season was a couple of weeks early making it hard to get the plants in the soil in time. Once the trees have put on leaves and the buds have opened, then it is generally too late to plant (in the forest) and it makes the plants very vulnerable to sudden drops in temperature and especially in regards to frost. If there is no frost, then it will be good for the the new plants with milder temperatures, so they have time to set roots and gain strength.

There were still snow showers today here in Southern Bavaria. And it is cold like the winter came back. And last week it almost felt a bit like summer and I was outside working in the garden without a jacket. So quite a drop of temperature over the weekend. Today I had a telco and was told by colleagues that it was also snowing in Warsaw and Vienna. So this cold weather is happening in quite some bit of Europe.

After an Easter weekend colder than last Christmas, the Netherlands joins the ranks of those suffering a virtually Europe-wide cold snap -- with substantial freezing lows last night and again predicted for the coming night as well, while day temps also are lagging behind normal:

Today to add to the snow mentioned earlier, we had thundersnow. Just one crack of thunder while it was snowing outside or rather sleet. The temperature was about 2.5 degrees at the time. My partner and I both looked at each other, astonished by the thunder as it is rare here too.

Some "Giboulées" (quick hailstone events) yesterday. Snow on summits and a caustic cold with clear sky and bright sun, summer is not yet here if ever ! Around Nice.

24 hours ago there was a strange drop in temperature in the north of the state of Sonora, Mexico, and unusual snowfalls in Cananea and Nogales.
In the center and in the capital, after having reached the temperature in the last days at 40° C, we have spring again: from 16 to 22 ° C, although a new rise in temperature is predicted in the coming days.

Today Wednesday May 10 we are at 23° C.
