I've been informed that I am not really in south central France, but rather south west France. Seems pretty central to me since it is about equidistant to the Med, Atlantic, and Pyrenees. However, not to the Eastern border... oh well.

Anyway, 5/6 days of clouds, wind, intermittant rains, low temps down to 12 C... definitely not summer weather by any stretch of the imagination! More like Fall!

Another mini heatwave in process for Central SW France. 37/38C (100 F) on Friday 7th July.

It's crazy how it went from a peak of 40C around the solstice, down to 13C at midday on July 2, now back up to the high 30s.

Can't we have anything in-between? Y'know, temps in the 20s??!

Who's running this joint! I want to speak with the manager!

In Northeast of France, we can just joining you're rant ! We can't say better except a bit more of we're in the north not south, remember that it shall mean !

4th of July 2017, new cold record on the Greenlandic glacier, - 33 Celsius _http://jyllands-posten.dk/nyviden/ECE9712951/kulderekord-paa-indlandsisen-laveste-julitemperaturer-nogensinde/ previous was 1,3 Celsius warmer. Below and in another article they assure us that new research shows global warming is much worse than previously thought _http://jyllands-posten.dk/nyviden/ECE9704965/forskere-man-har-undervurderet-den-globale-opvarmnings-fulde-effekt/

Another heatwave in western Macedonia. Yesterday was almost impossible to breathe. Temperatures were around 35C in the shadow but it was foggy sky and without any air movement. I was litteraly swimming in my sweat just seating and not doing anything. Later afternoon we went to nearby mountain village about 8 km of the city where we know that even in the middle of the summer is nice and chilly but not this time. It was same unbearable hot air without any air movement.
Forecast says that at the end of this week temperature will go down a little and there may be some local rain.

Heatwave here in Split Dalmazzia too, so a dipping in "Adriatic" is a must here, playing water-polo helps to stay in seawater as much as possible - and than that famous outside shower at Urchin Beach! :cool2: The coldest one in Mediterranean area, i can guarantee...

Today some overcast skies with southern wind but little relief - this kind of wind - Yougooo - usually brings some rainy days followed with Boorah - or i hope so...

P.S. I put Adriatic in air quotes cause genuine Adriatic sea-water can be enjoyed on some remote islands, not in Split. Sea-water here is a kind of scummy....

:bye:

Waiting for a possible swing back after the full moon - will see...

So, the run up to the full moon brought continued high temps, even to +43c ugh. The moon phase change brought in a scattered moist flow with some showers and brief downpours today. It also brought in more lightning, and that is not good as some of BC's central regions are at various stages of Wildfire evacuation and alerts. It appears that around here in the Rockies and elsewhere, a resurgence of hot dry weather with "no immediate" end will prevail for awhile - back to 40C+ by midweek. It is early in the summer season with this type of heat and biomass is curing fast to be overly optimistic of more seasonal weather, and I'm pretty concerned that this current lightening pass will have some effects that will popup in the days to come; will have to see.

Here is a map of Canada and you can see that for the most part it's in the Blue (low FWI) and even half of BC is that way too. Normally (traditionally anyway) the parts in the the > 30 FWI would be in 5 - 20 range for this time of year.

Singapore, and its been raining for almost 3 days now - no sun, and periods between rain very gloomy and cloudy. As I sit here looking out of the window; its almost 1pm in the afternoon - heavy rains, thunder and lightning, and its very dark outside like after sunset. Temperatures still a very tropical 25C.

Tonight in Split and Dalmazzia Her Elemental Majesty The Boorah is in full swing, chasing away recent heatwave. She will be blowing for a couple of days. Ultra "festival" patrons and coterie in beach garments will yearn for some more clothes - if not too stoned or whatever

Even being on me balcony is not a pleasant experience wright now, so i prefer staying inside - i also put a t-shirt on which was a big no-no just a couple hours ago...

For the record, one Norwegian reader sendt us a link to an article in Norwegian, which tells us that on July 5th, it was snowing in the Norwegian Finmark. Here is the link _https://www.ifinnmark.no/kautokeino/nyheter/varmelding/dette-bildet-er-tatt-i-finnmark-i-dag-man-blir-litt-satt-ut-sier-alf-sterner/s/5-81-532617

With regard to the present weather in Norway and in the part of Norway called Nordland, -> _https://www.google.dk/search?q=nordland+norway+map&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gws_rd=cr&ei=OYdrWcv1Febb6QTrhJGIBA#cns=1&gws_rd=cr there is warning of increased risk of flooding and landslides due to heavy rain in recent days, which is expected to continue _https://www.yr.no/artikkel/fare-for-flom-i-nordland-1.13600773

Weather here in South Eastern BC (update on fire weather) sees a big change in airflow from the North West with a cold front. This brought temps from the high 30c's and even low 40c's to barely above 24 c in the valley, and while up at near 10,000 ft today, it was barely 5c in the winds. Further West, 37,000 people or so are now evacuated with around 165 fires burning; some semi contained and some raging. Despite the cold airflow today in these Western areas, those winds (it's most always the winds), stirred up the fires in further conflagration. If a couple of these fires take on more speed and alignment without any weather relief, some of these cities will be in big trouble, like Fort Mac was in Alberta last year.

This is all a very difficult situation.

And after what I described above 7 days ago, now a dramatic change in the weather in Macedonia. Yesterday it was like in the middle of November. Max temperature of 12 C degrees and the wind making it feel even colder. Heavy dark clouds very low making it feel like the late autumn , not like the middle of the summer. All these changes happened in about 36 hours. Very fast.

Southern BC - From the extreme temps of the last two week leading into Saturday (see right photo example) to the temps of this morning (left), July 18th. Either it's T-shirt or parka weather in the summer; the new normal? What this winter has in store may be interesting.

For the last few weeks, record hot in the deepest regions of Aragon (Spain) with temperatures as high as 42 C. Not bad for a place known to be as the coldest region in Spain. Lowest temperatures is always at 15 C in the early hours of the morning. Today it was more than 20 C.

When it rains, it has rained buckets of water. I've seen some cloud iridescence too. I couldn't take a pic because I was driving, but it was pretty cool!

Some part of Turkey is warm/hot but there is also unexpected rainfall, hail, storm, flooding, etc. in other parts. This is from a news report from a neighboring city:

The report in Turkish that also includes a video states that a car was damaged and an old taxi driver was hurt in his head by the egg-sized hail stones:
