What's the weather where you are?

6:20 am Sunday morning here in southwest Florida.

Pretty strong wind gusts now with breaks in-between. Rain is falling steadily but not heavily. Irma is still south of us and will impact Key West at about 8:00 am. She will impact my area full force at about 2:00 pm today.

As I sat outside for my morning smoke and coffee, I also noticed occasional flashes of red (lightning?) above the cloud cover.

The electricity in the house has flashed off and then on again twice in the past hour.

That's it for now.

Same here, Moonbird. Please stay safe and keep us updated if you can! :hug2:

My niece's husband is a firefighter in Bonita Springs and I've been monitoring their emergency services on Broadcastify. So far the damage doesn't seem be too bad, a lot of alarms going off and some trees down. If you want to monitor police/fire emergency communications in Collier County, I found the following link: http://www.naplesnews.com/pages/interactives/scanner/

Take care, I'll be thinking of you and your mom. Time to hunker down!

Early snow fall.............. ! Oh là là

Things are slowly getting back to normal here - people are helping each other recover. It's rather strange as some neighborhoods look as though nothing happened at all, while in others there is debris piled so high you can barely see the homes behind them. Gasoline is a bit scarce in some places as well, but people are coping. Almost everyone I talk to reports feeling exceptionally tired, and I have felt it too along with a sense of being on edge. There is just so much happening right now and with the ongoing solar flares, who knows what's next. Sheesh!! Well if people weren't aware before, they are certainly starting to notice now!!

Thanks aleana for the update. It must be such a shock for people who weren't aware before. It is good to know that they help each other and that they are starting to notice. Take care of yourself and make sure you get some rest. Pipe breathing will help or citing POTS when you are feeling on edge. Hang in there! And you Moonbird! :hug2:

Thank you aleana for the update. Lot of things are happening in the world and it can be overwhelming. 2 big storms in less than 2 weeks, it is crazy. Take care of your self.

Thank you!!! I am getting lots of rest, doing pipe breathing and walking outside as well. The weather has been cool and really nice, quite a welcome relief too!! So..onward and upward. Best thing is to stay busy so now that I have a rental car, am going to help out at Habitat for Humanity next week, calling their homeowners to see who needs help. Don't know the fate of my car yet...hope to hear something next week.

I have been hearing so many heartwarming stories. My brother told me today that people near him in Kingwood (north of Houston) put out notices on social media as soon as the waters receded. People started showing up in droves in subdivisions that had been inundated - armed with tools and plenty of food and started helping to clear out homes, removing wet sheetrock and drywall. Complete strangers showed up in neighborhoods to lend a hand!! Gotta love Southern hospitality...

Merci pour toutes vos infos... Bon courage... De tout coeur avec vous...

Thanks for all your info ... Good luck... Wholeheartedly with you...

The Danish Meteorological Institute reported that one location received close to 4 inches, 98,6 mm of rain in one day and such an event should only happen once in 500 years _http://www.dmi.dk/nyheder/arkiv/nyheder-2017/september/djurs-fik-en-500-aars-skylle/ They say that because the measurements only began about 150 years ago, the database is not large, so it is 500 years, give and take.
