What's the weather where you are?

Yesterday we had have some intense rain storms over here in Dalmazzia - in Split we have some serious showers with strong winds and lightnings (maybe even microburst ) on Sunday evening. But the area of Zadar experienced a sort of Biblical Deluge on Monday morning - over 260 mm of rain in couple of hours (average for September is something like 109 mm). In past ten days that very area suffered more than 350 (more than ten feet?) of rain in total... and it seems that skies are up for even more!!! There were flooded and ruined streets, damaged houses, stranded cars - even on some littoral islands.

It was interesting to observe sheets of rain on ground level - i was out for shopping and downpour started while i was inside; on the way out you could barely see through the "curtain" - and than suddenly (in a matter of second) clouds quickly moved on and umbrella served its purpose...

Spring seems to be making it's mark here in Western Australia, temps in the mid 20's for the rest of the week, and finally some some sun :)

Rained for a couple hours this morning and was cloudy most of the day. It's supposed to go down to 7C/45F tonight. Durn! That's fireplace weather!

It's sunny with a nice temperature now in Mexico City, after some rainy weeks that were colder than usual for the season. But now the tropical storm Max became a category 1 hurricane in the Pacific and could bring more rain, there has been a lot of water lately in the country. Max it's going to pass near, or hit Baja California next week, but so far, the forecasts are more favorable for a weakening of the hurricane as it advances.

Hello everyone,

Finally got my electricity back after Irma. Just wanted to report in to let you know that my family and I made it through Irma's wrath practically without a scratch. We are grateful to have our homes in tact too, even my mother's mobile home.

My mother's neighbors right next door were not so lucky and they are now faced with finding somewhere else to live. The mobile home parks were the hardest hit as well as many, many trees! The amount of horticultural debris is unbelievable. Piles and piles line the roads.

I was without electricity for 5 days which wasn't too bad in this Florida heat . There are still a lot of people without.

We are still under a boil water alert in our county. The county water management issued a statement today asking residents to conserve water as well. No running of washing machines or dishwashers, limiting toilet flushes, etc.

Gasoline is slowly arriving. So people are conserving what gas they have.

I was awed watching Irma blow through during the on-slaught of the eyewall, the strongest part of the storm, which lasted about 30 to 40 minutes. It was a wicked, fierce and powerful wind. About 140 mph the local news stations report.

The house I live in held strong though as well as the homes in my surrounding neighborhood. I will be picking up roof tiles from my yard for weeks to come!

It is a long road ahead to cleaning up after Irma.

Thanks everyone for your concern and thoughts.

Thank you Moonbird for the update. Good to hear that you weathered the storm with Knowledge.

Indeed. I was monitoring the storm all through and thought about you constantly being there and hoping that everything was okay.

I bet it is an experience you will never forget. It's hard to convey to other people what it is like, psychologically, to go through an extended period of really violent, hurricane force winds and driving rains. Just nothing else like it in the world.

On the French Riviera, after two bad days, the sun came back with the blue sky and fine white clouds but the temperature dropped 16 ° this morning at 7am outside ... Beautiful day. ..

I can´t imagine what you had to endure these endless days, Moonbird.

What a blessing your home and mobile home were able to bear Irma´s virulence. You´re in my thoughts, and seeing there´re still hard times ahead of you as a witness to the vulnerability people find themselves now in, I´d welcome any further comments about how your experience unfolds as most of us will most likely than not have to face escalating similar hardships at any moment. If you wish so, of course.

Ditto! Thank you for the update Moonbird. Great to hear you and your family "made it without a scratch" :)

I have been thinking of you as well, Moonbird. Glad to know that you made it through unscathed and that the worst of the experience is behind you!! Keep us updated on how things progress and how you are feeling. :hug2:

Agreed!! I still remember riding out Hurricane Carla in Houston, I was only 11 at the time but have never forgotten those long frightening hours riding out the storm.

Glad to hear you rode it out and made it through safely. I wish you the best for the clean up and work ahead. :hug2:
