Wildlife and Natural Photography Pics

Thanks for posting the original thread Mr.Cyan and to all those that contributed. I really enjoy the photos and here are a couple of mine, taken at the beach close to my house. Sorry to hear about your hard drive crash Mr.Cyan, hoping they can be retrieved.

Really sorry Mr Cyan that you have had electronic problems resulting in your lost photo works - I know the feeling, it hurts. Thanks for posting such nice shots above.

Very nice sunsets, scotseeker. The top one has some Crepuscular rays, which is always nice - cool. At the end of August I was able to also experience a sunset with some remarkable C-rays right at home (more rare); they stopped me and my partner in our tracks type of rays - will post here.

Thank you PerfectCircle, my pictures are from the east coast of Florida, I am an early riser! Appreciate the compliment!

Thanks for the kind words ashu, scotseeker and voyageur, much appreciated. Fingers crossed, that I get to retrieve some of the pics from the failed hard drive.

scotseeker, really nice sunset pics as well :)! Thanks for sharing.

Mine too.

As for Crepuscular Rays, the following two shots were in my backyard (not near an ocean) and happened suddenly. What took place was a very strange collection of short rays (in a row) that looked somewhat like buildings and then the sky opened up revealing iridescent clouds and Crepuscular rays slicing the clouds apart outward (they are actually parallel) while casting long shadow like fingers across the roof of the sky. I've seen small examples of Crepuscular rays here and there, mostly on the coast, yet not exactly like this. I looked up what these rays exactly signify, which is as follows:

Crepuscular Rays
sun rays converging on the horizon
Crepuscular rays occur when objects such as mountain peaks or clouds partially shadow the sun's rays. The name crepuscular means "relating to twilight" and these rays are observed at sunrise and sunset. Crepuscular rays appear to diverge outward from the setting sun, and are visible only when the atmosphere contains enough haze or dust particles so that sunlight in unshadowed areas can be scattered toward the observer.

There is a mountain range between the foreground and the setting sun. Here is a link discussing scattered light http://ww2010.atmos.uiuc.edu/%28Gh%29/wwhlpr/scattering.rxml?hret=/guides/mtr/opt/air/crp.rxml

Date of photos was 29/08/2016

Thanks for the info voyageur, I never knew what caused Crepuscular Rays :) cool pics too!! :cool2:

Really enjoyed looking at your pics as well Mr Cyan!

Just recently took a break from the world, and only minimally checked the internet - and indulged a bit in wildlife photography and spending time in nature :).

Attached are some of the pics taken.

Also from the previous pics posted, there was some good news - the data retrieval company managed to salvage the RAW files, hence I have copies of all the originals now. Lesson learnt the hard way and im going to be more careful now with backing up pics.

Thanks for sharing you're photo work. Singularly, thought the b/w Elephant photo was very nice.

Great news on the RAW file salvage operation!

awesome news on the raw files, love the new pics too Mr Cyan, hope your time in nature was a cathartic :)

Just as a side note for backing up hard drives, I always keep a separate backup drive off site, so one at home and one at work ;)

Thanks for the kind words voyageur and 987Baz, much appreciated :)

Indeed the break in nature was thoroughly helpful to "re-energize" after an eventful and interesting year.

casper, thanks for sharing the pics, and my favorite is the blades of grass with dew on it :)

Very nice pictures everybody! And I'm glad that you could retrieve your RAW files Mr. Cyan! Your pictures are just wonderful, it would be so sad to loose them all.

I've been out of photography for a while now, but decided to start again a few months ago. I didn't have much time to practice yet, but here are some new pictures I took:
