This could be what is causing havoc in some places around the world weather-wise: the release of melted freshwater in the Arctic Circle southwards, thus impacting the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, thus disrupting oceanic temperature plumes from the tropics towards the north that have enabled warmer weather in Europe and northern climes than would be expected for most areas at those latitudes.

The Arctic Ocean’s Beaufort Gyre has transitioned to a state where the freshwater content has plateaued and the cold halocline layer has thinned, as a result of variation in the regional wind forcing.

According to google maps, Cordillera Department (Red line) is quite near to Luque and thus to Asunción, probably the same system.

According to Nahel Belgherze ( @WxNB), weather models are converging towards the appearance of a “weather bomb” (equivalent to hurricane cat. 1) in Western Europe next week. France would be concerned.

Just to make some more connections to what happened in Acapulco with Otis, October proved to be a disastrous month for the Pacific coast of Mexico. Where we could see 4 tropical storms and Hurricanes hit: Tropical Storm Max, Hurricane Norma (who intensified rapidly from a Tropical Storm to a Cat 4 overnight), Hurricane Lidia (Cat 4 too), and of course Hurricane Otis (Cat 5).
