I wonder is this the crop circle where this shooting took place?

A man has been arrested after allegedly firing a shotgun at people visiting a crop circle.

The 62-year-old reportedly hid in a tent in the centre of the circle before jumping out and firing over the heads of a group of tourists, thought to be from Norway.

The incident happened following the appearance of a crop circle in fields close to the village of Allington, near Devizes, Wiltshire.

The group of tourists fled and called police, who sent armed officers and a helicopter to the scene at around 2pm on Monday.

The 300ft crop circle is thought to be of an ancient bird.

Nearby Cannings Cross Farm lost thousands of pounds worth of crops in 2007 after a 500ft pattern appeared in a field.

Wiltshire Police said a 62-year-old man, from Oldham in Lancashire, had been arrested for possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He has been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries.

A spokesman for the force could not confirm whether the man worked on the land.

If a lot of other crops are lost as a result of crop circles, wouldn't that make it a crime? If so, why are the police not investigating, or at least why are there no reports of police staking out the area in an effort to apprehend the criminals who make them?

What also seems quite interesting is to consider this news, together with what the Cs said on the 4 July 2009 session:

If a lot of other crops are lost as a result of crop circles, wouldn't that make it a crime? If so, why are the police not investigating, or at least why are there no reports of police staking out the area in an effort to apprehend the criminals who make them?

Yeh, Big Brother Britain is conspicuous by its absence in that corner of the country. But maybe as these STS-inspired circles continue to attract trouble, we'll see more of a police presence interfering with the overall phenomenon? Suddenly permits will be required to enter land, conduct research, take photographs...

This crop circle reminds me of the Shinto talisman, Magatama, with the Tao symbol placed in the "eye" of the talisman.

The magatama is an ancient Japanese Shinto ornament, which most believe was introduced to Japan from Korea around the 3rd-4th centuries AD.

From early on, the magatama symbolized "avoidance of evil" or the "magic of good fortune." Its origins are clouded in uncertainty. Some say it represents the shape of an animal tusk, and hence came to represent good luck in agriculture and husbandry. Others say it came from an ancient Korean diagram representing the mother's womb, or embryo, and hence came to mean all good things, like the blessing of a new child, growth, longevity, and properity.

Thirdly, in my own mind and from my own studies, it is also equally plausible that the symbol originated from the ancient Chinese symbol for Taoism (Daoism), pronounced Dōkyō 道教 in Japanese.

The prototype magatama were found on artifacts from Japan's early Jōmon Period (13,000 - 300 BC). The icon was refined during the Yayoi Period (300 BC - AD 300), and the "magatama" we know today first became prevelant in Japan's Kofun Period (AD 300 - 650), often as a decorative element used on tumuli or tombs (on the large burial mounds built for elites in Japan's Kofun period -- Kofun literally means "burial mound").

The flower in the middle also looks like the flower in the maze of Chartres Cathedral that Windmill knight posted in the Cs session thread:

it also strikingly resembles the logo of Opera Unite (a webserver-like functionality to be added to Opera browser in v. 10). what doesn't match is the orientation of the pattern.

It could be intentional - it looks like some sort of galaxy or cluster emerging into view from behind a closer large body.
