Interesting that everyone is so exercised over this event - but nobody is texting to provide aid to Iraq or Palestine.

Yeah, strange, or not so strange. Of course, there never has been a aid drive for Iraq or Palestine that was carried widely by the mainstream press. Early last year, after the Israeli government enjoyed yet another bloodletting in Gaza, killing 1400 men women and children and destroying large areas of Palestine, the BBC refused to carry an TV aid appeal for the victims and their families. Of course, you could put that down to the world-wide Israel lobby and influence, but everyone knows that to say such a thing means that you hate Jews because they are Jews, i.e. you're anti-Semitic, so it can't be true, because apparently, only pro-Semites tell the truth.

We were listening to the evening news ... seems that the U.S. has taken charge of Haiti and refused to allow French and Spanish planes with emergency supplies to land.

The same thing happened with Katrina. Rescue teams and efforts from across the country either offered help and were turned down - 'thanks, we got it covered; we don't need your assistance' - or were turned away and refused entry into the disaster areas. A report in the newspaper here told of a dog rescue team standing-by to come help - the dogs find buried people while they are still alive. They still haven't been given the green light to come. After the disaster victims expire, this particular dog rescue unit can no longer be of service. Well, just think of it - thousands of people trapped, injured, in great pain, slowly dying or other survivors, injured or not, without water, food, medication, bandages, shelter, covered with pulverized dust, surrounded by the accumulating bodies of the dead with temperatures rising, and all the felons from the collapsed prison on the loose, wielding machetes and looting! What a humongous food fest this is for 4DSTS!!!

I was all set to donate money even though I know some or all of it doesn't actually end up helping the victims. Funny how donated funds go to purchase stuff from specially selected vendors that in the end, don't even benefit the disaster victims. Emotional gorging for lizzies; $$$$ for evil human handlers! Perpetrated disaster - what's not to like?!!

Never understood this anti-Semitic story, if you think that Palestinians are being exterminated how can you be anti-Semitic if Palestinians and Arabs are Semites!

There are protests at the U.S. embassy in Haiti... So, it appears that the U.S. intends to own Haiti and its resources. What did we expect with Obama putting George "Fantastic Job Brownie" Bush in charge?

probably this is the first time , they are using earthquake as a weapon near populated place and hijack the country . sounds like they have pretty good success. next time , they can blast it near tehran and land in with out even asking .

This could just be an event used so the PTB and mainstream media can put on their we-care-about-humanity faces. "Don't look at the suffering we're raining down in AfPak or Palestine, look at the suffering we're trying to relieve for these earthquake victims. We care, dammit!" They'll trot out a few people who received aid to make it look they're really making a difference but the vast majority will go on with wrecked lives just as before the earthquake.

I suspect, some more streamlining of the money flow happening in this event. companies like costco are asking whether we want to donate at checkout, which they did for some time, but to day I got a mail from credit card company asking whether I want to donate my credit card points for the haiti effect and all happened to land in red cross pocket. this is the first time I heard about credit card point. May be I am thinking too conspiratoral.

Not at all, "charity" is a great way for the masses to give up their money willingly.

I've just read what Hillary Clinton said arriving at Haiti

"US Secretary of State vowed Saturday the United States stood ready to help the quake-stricken nation of Haiti "today, tomorrow and for the time ahead."

scary!

Another thought regarding the Katrina/Haiti disasters:

Main victims of Katrina hurricane - black people
Main victims of Haiti earthquake - black people.

Puzzlement - how much longer until the tab for black "bad karma" is paid in full? :/

I am right now watching the 11 o'clock news and the report is that the Ohio Task Force is being delayed again for second or third time in their emergency assistance for Haiti and that another flight came in to the Wright-Patterson Air Force base from elsewhere in the country with generators, etc. for this same Haiti assistance. The Ohio Task Force began loading this onto their cargo plane. Eight minutes before this flight was due to take off for Haiti, they learned that they were again canceled. They started unloading the plane. The reason being given is that the tiny airport in Haiti cannot accommodate all the air traffic. And so, again, just as in Katrina, emergency relief is not getting in to help the people. And how will any amount of charity donations change this situation?

I just heard on the Australian news that teams of Cuban and Venezuelan doctors had arrived on the island and were assisting the few overworked local doctors. I bet that really peeves the Americans. I do recall that Cuba seems well set up to send medical teams to assist in regional disasters.

I received the following e-mail message today:

"As the tragedy in Haiti unfolds, Americans are generously donating millions of dollars to aid organizations.

But when Americans donate to charity with their credit cards, the credit card companies get rich. In some cases they keep 3% of the donation as a "transaction fee," even though that's far more than it costs them to process the donation.

It's outrageous and wrong—and it needs to stop."

I have no way of knowing if this is true but if nothing else, it serves as a reminder to those wanting to make donations.

How could I be so blind I got so emotionally caught into the
horrible situation of the people of haiti that I totally forgot
about psychopaths. And I was willing to donate but I didn't
my mom and sister did though. And that money is really
not Guaranteed to get their either. What happened in haiti
is horrible but I most definitely have to be on alert for
pyschopaths. Here is what I am talking about this is my
post.

Thanks for the post Forg it is really devastating to hear about
this but we just have to hope for the best. I cant believe people
can be so selfish and careless about the situation. I had a student
in my class tell the teacher forget the people of haiti. I could not
believe what I heard. And little do people know it is a very high
chance of something like this happening to us. But let me move
more to the positive here is a number to donate.

text "haiti" to 90999. An automatic $10 will be donated to the Red Cross

here is a useful link to a review of various charities and what they do; Haiti relief efforts are currently on the first page:

the credit card tricks are outrageous, I would guess donating directly would be a better option?

Thanks for the link, Hildegarda . I'll be sure to pass it forward.

Thanks for the post Hildegarda this gives me a little relief. I
really hope the money people directly donated gets to the
Haitian people.

Here's the French to English translation of the article Laura posted:

Disorder with the airport of Port-au-Prince

The lack of coordination reigned Saturday on the airport of Port-au-Prince whose Americans took the load

A diplomatic mini-incident was avoided of accuracy Saturday between Paris and Washington with the airport of the capital, whose United States has seen itself entrusting management by Haiti for Friday.

A French humane flight bringing a hospital of countryside was prevented from landing and the Secretary of State to the Co-operation Alain Joyandet protested.

“As there are arrivals which intensify, it is necessary that (with the Americans) one can determine which are the priorities. Perhaps that there is a lack of arbitration or understanding. In any case, it is not normal only one plane which contains a hospital of countryside cannot land”, declared on France Info the Secretary of State to the Co-operation Alain Joyandet, which is on the spot.

Whereas it ensured to have raised an official protest near the ambassador of the United States, of the sources close to the Quay of Orsay calmed the play by ensuring that it of it was nothing.

“One decides of coordination with UNO and the Haitians”, explained for its part the American ambassador in Haiti, Kenneth Merten, by pointing out the need for treating on a hierarchical basis the priorities: “it is clear that there is a problem”, he recognized. He put nevertheless ahead the fact that of 24 hours the Americans were able to make usable the airport, whose tower of control was touched by the seism.

The Secretary of State to the Co-operation Alain Joyandet on the airport of Port-au-Prince on January 16 (c) France 2Saturday morning, Haitian president Rene Préval had been the first to consider it regrettable that a French plane bringing a hospital of countryside could not land.

For Michel Chanzy, who directs a committee charged to coordinate the distribution almentaire, “the Haitians are not informed an arrival of the planes” and the result is that “there is no catch of load” when they land.

According to the American State Department, 90 movements of planes are envisaged per day from now on, maximum capacity for this small airport which was quickly saturated vis-a-vis the surge with the international assistance.

The American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was on the way for Haiti Saturday, to observe the coordination of the helps of his own eyes, to bring a material aid and to meet Haitian president Rene Préval.

The airport of Port-au-Prince is damaged

The long track of 9.000 feet of the small airport of Port-au-Prince, and which can accomodate planes large-carriers, was relatively saved by the seism. On the other hand, the tower of control was seriously damaged and the capacity of reception limited of the air traffic delays the arrival of the helps.

Certain apparatuses were obliged to have patience several hours in the air before being posed, with the risk to miss kerozene, while others had to be diverted. The loading of the planes was not unloaded sufficiently quickly and encumbered the tarmac, preventing the landing of new aircraft.

The American air force has worked for Wednesday with the Haitian authorities and a team of the Administration of the civil aviation (FAA) to restore the navigation systems and of communication. They also work with the management of the planes on the ground and the organization of the landings.

Israeli delegation and field hospital were also never denied:

Israelis rescue earthquake survivor in Haiti

Talking about the new height of hypocrisy: Helping nations in need while committing genocide.
