Aphrodite!!! she's back

But I do have a question for you, why would you think it would not bother me?

I've said it on my reply to Anart that I would stop with the whole pop scene, but it's going to be hard, and I guess I got emotional when others started to say some truths and misconceptions about Kylie. I'm a little cranky beacuse I used to listen to POP everyday for years, and now I've cut it to zero in basically 12-15 minutes, the time that it took me to make the desicion to stop.

EDIT: I did not downloaded the book when you first gave me the link to this thread, I've just done it and I'll read it right away.

I guess the way you expressed yourself originally came across as kind of joking. I apologize if I misinterpreted it. Good luck with your pop music "fast". There should be lots to observe as it goes on, especially as we swim in a sea of mainstream media. Can't even go to a supermarket without being assaulted with "golden oldies", which unfortunately are my era  Classical music has such a different quality. It's like eating something truly nutritious as opposed to junk food. Try Bach's Brandenburg Concertos. They are great fun! Here's the #5 (three movements) which is my favourite.

Keep us posted on your thoughts and feelings as you read CoL. It's not an easy read, but an essential one.

Have you been able to stop listening to this type of music yet, to help your jelly brain? I would like to see what your brain is capable of when it is not jellified - anyone who gets defensive over a created character (which IS what pop stars are - they are wholly manufactured) is using a jelly brain. I think it's time for you to wake up, EDU.

I know I know it's so :-[ I'm doing OK I think, considering that I used to listed to Pop every single day, for hours, for YEARS, know I only listen to it when I'm in public transports or sometimes in my fashion class they'll put the radio on. But I haven't listened to music with headphones or at home, since Saturday (only meditation or relaxation). I'm also reading the book, Caricature of Love, complicated read, barely on the third chapter, but so far it's good, the introduction left me a bit WTF :O?! but then it all starts to make sense. Thanks for asking!!! :) :) :)

Good for you!! I also found it hard not to listen to pop whilst cleaning my apartment! They did give me a bit for zest for something I dislike. I noticed the songs appealed to my "lower appetites"- (sounds a bit vulgar). But it's been a while, and hopefully it's done some good! It's much harder for me to get my teen to cut down, or better still out ! And my youngest likes Hannah Montana. :curse:

Oh Lord! You'd really be doing yourself a favor by selling them...

Here's an idea: maybe sell the tickets, and use the money to check out some other types of music: classical, jazz, whatever.

Maybe this is a bit off topic, but I need to sell some books - I was toying with the idea of selling some of my silly women's books, Cd's, etc..
But wouldn't selling Miley tickets/ chick lit (e.g. Shopaholic Gets Married") be a little STS? I mean they are brain-deadening and encourage all the wrong values.

I guess here you won't find somebody who would buy them :rotfl:

Hi cassandra,

I was recently introduced to this website:

http://www.paperbackswap.com/home.php

This seems like a pretty good way to get rid of old, unwanted books and get some wanted books in return. I've found a few of the recommended books through this website.

As far as the STS thing, most of what we do is STS, so why quibble over this one thing? There are probably countless activities that we all do throughout our day that would qualify as STS. Selling off a few unwanted books that might not hold the highest standard of truth or usefulness seems pretty low on the totem pole, if you know what I mean. Besides, who's to say that some person might not get something out of those books? People read books for a lot of different reasons.

Yeah I agree RyanX, I'm selling the tickets to a friend, half price...but it's OK, I know it's for my well being(STS). :)
