Hey, EGVG. What would you say to taking one month off of all pop music? Don't listen to it, don't watch videos, don't read about it. One month. You can listen to classical instead if you need music.

I suggest this because you seem to have a bit of an obsession with these pop artists and their music rather 'melts the mind' (turns it to jelly in a way) and promotes a pathological view of reality/life/success/love/etc.

So - think it might be worth a try?

Yeah, I like songs from some groups, because of the melody and without notice it, because parts of their lyrics resonate in me, just some parts. But I always preffer instrumental or orchestrated music where you could interpret it in whatever way you want.

And there is some kind of symptom when I hear pop music I like, for example Paramore "That's what you get", in some way you begin to think things or have wrong ideas those songs provoque in you.

Honestly my mayor problem with this music is the jelly effect they have on my brain. When it come to the message, there's no problem if you have knowledge.

Yeah that kind of effect, I don hear so much pop music. But indeed with knowledge there is no problem, unless is some song talking about have sex, drug yourself, or singing things like yeah bit** yeah, or something like that. That's not music, and is so disgusting that everyone from where I live like those songs.

FWIW, I used to work at a library and we generally enjoyed receiving donations of books, magazines, and audio/visual materials. We either added them to our collection, sold them to buy materials for our collection, or threw them in the trash if they were in poor condition. Donations made to our library were also tax write-offs, because people were donating to the County of Los Angeles.

UPDATE: I've watched new Britney Spears Apocalyptic video and Rebeca Black's Friday :-[ , still I think I'm doing pretty well, I'm extending my Pop music fast to indefinite time.

If those are your only two slips, you are doing pretty well. I'll be interested to see how you feel about it after fasting for a month (no slips). ;)

Hello!!! A little update, I've been reading 'Caricature of Love', really slowly because i was reading another book before this one and I wanted to finished it first but I kinda just started this one and continued with the past one as well. So I'm on chapter 8 called Bisexuality it's very old and I agree with the author on many things but I just think that he should have lived on this times so his work would have been more rich and less focus on psychiatric homosexual patients.

But I do understand why this book has been recommended to me, I mean it got me thinking of how the Pop world uses psychology and sex (in the most bizarre and occult ways) to make you buy and pay attention to their products! Not even kids are safe, probably they are the most affected by this, because it really brain washes them and they grow to be little pathological Pokemon adolescents, it's crazy.

So the book it self hasn't given me any new info, but has made me realise that the world is really faked up, when you put it like the author does it really makes you wonder about (especially if your gay) Is my hole life a lie, just a personality disorder? I honestly think that I was born Gay, no imprint happend to me, of course I wouldn't know, but that's just how I feel about my homosexuality.
Well this post is kinda all over the place just wanted to make a little update! :)

I agree, and more now with this new disney channel way, hanna montana and stupid programs that don't help the situation.

I've failed the Pop music fast... even after cancelling my facebook page, it's just not possible for me at the moment.

This song I would like to dedicate to myself, I just shoot myself ! I'm the man down these days, but I'm also the shooter.

Rihanna - Man Down, link no video just song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEhy-RXkNo0

While I understand falling off the wagon (we all do it), and think I understand that you're not referring to the video itself but the song, you know I can't just ignore the video I just watched. ;)

Basically violence justifies violence?

Perhaps it would be more helpful to you if you were to take smaller steps like watching videos that are a little more uplifting (that feed the soul) and have a positive message to them? Have you tried that or would you be willing to?

I'm willing to do anything, the thing is that I get sucked into it! And I enjoy it :-[
I didn't post the video because I understand the meaning of it, sure some people could relate and say, "hell yeah, he deserves it" but as you pointed "violence justifies violence" is the theme and I didn't wanted to project that on me and my fast, because I don't think violence is justified by anything in anyway. :)

Take care

How about this - every now and again, find and post a video that is not something you would usually view but that you like in terms of music and/or message in the video (it doesn't have to include words)? Maybe something not recent? Really think about why you're posting the video and why you like it before you do it. Try to find people who look like everyday people (or as close as you can get it). Not overly made up and or exuding sex. Once in a while, post a classical piece that you like and explain why you like it. But you genuinely have to like it. Perhaps this way, you will begin to get used to listening to different types of music and come to appreciate it more fully. What do you think?

Just for the record in 2009 :

I'd like that! I'll try it, thanks for the recommendations!
