Are you voting & why?

I still enjoy voting at the local, county, and sometimes state level. I feel there is still a chance that some integrity is left in the process, when it is that small (a few hundred people voting on a local ordinance for the town in which they live, for example). But that is certainly not guaranteed either, and depends on where specifically you are.

Anything national has almost certainly either been co-opted either in the lack of choices being presented, or rigging of the vote counts themselves so that it does not really matter.

This year I have half a mind to cast my ballot for U.S. President just so I can write in "Anybody but these guys."

I certainly think that voting in most national and certainly the US national elections serves to empower them ("look, they chose Obama"--no thanks) and certainly most people believe that voting for the "lesser of two evils" is better than not voting at all, but I'm certainly not going to vote for evil. Obviously the evil ones serve the same master and the differences between Obama and Bush are approximately zero. The only thing that I think might be useful in voting for US national elections is voting specifically for no one or protesting via the ballot. I think this might be effective en masse, but not voting en masse should be just as effective.

As for local elections, I do think there might be some redeeming value to doing so at times. It's unlikely that I will participate as I think the most useful messages sent to the psychopaths and their pawns are disengaging from the government and I doubt I'd see enough change resulting from such an action on my part to warrant the time in doing so.

The one thing that does seem certain to me is that in voting for evil, even the "lesser" one, one gets what one asks for.

The Iowa Democratic party initially denied this. Why would they deny it and lie about it?

These quotes are referring to the 2008 national election, but they also apply to the 2012 election, etc..

I cannot get around the clear fact, OSIT, that voting for a national candidate of either political party in America is tantamount to lending material support to genocide, for starters. Due to this consideration alone, I wouldn't touch a voting booth* with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole.

*Note: I'm speaking of national elections... though I have misgivings about supporting the two-party at any level.
