The war in the ME is ongoing, torture and the torturers have free reign...won't be long before Iran is attacked...the fascist Patriot Act is in full force and getting stronger as evidenced by the recent G20 protests. I feel like screaming...guess a sickbag will do for now.

I think we also need to consider that within the elite there are factions. Different groups are competing for the top spots on the pyramid.
There were many members of the elite of other countries who were not happy with the Bush administration. This peace prize sounds to me like a giant raspberry blown in the direction of the Bush camp.
While they all 'taste' the same to us, I figure that some of these differences matter a lot to the different groups vying for control with each other.

Prouty specifically mentions this (and he's certainly not the first), so when I see one of the biggest (and still capable/useful) puppets of the cabal being rewarded for promoting the abandonment of the only deterrent that gives them pause (should their targets possess them), you have to wonder who is in bed with who.
The only countries espousing nuclear non-proliferation are the ones that already posses the capability.

It is interesting to note that the application for the prize must be submitted by Feb. 1, 2009. Obama wasn't even in office one month!

A Disturbance in the Force
If anyone hasn't checked out the White House Flickr photo stream, it's really quite instructive to not only get a sense of how the White House is managing the public image of Obama - but, even more interesting, the public reaction to these photos. The overwhelming majority of comments are glowing - almost adoring this man and his family - especially his wife.
It's just (I think) a fascinating example of how truly desperate Americans are for someone/something to be proud of and to have hope in, and - ultimately - how image always wins out in America, over fact. A sleeping nation, dreaming of a savior in the White House, or an Anti-Christ, but so few actually seeing the truth of it all.
