I have been wondering why people went crazy about toilet papers and why they bought so much of it.

I got my answer today. You know the "when SHTF" expression, if not :

What does SHTF mean?
Any responsible person tries to be ready in case of emergency, but only a true prepper is ready for when SHTF. That is, when shit hits the fan. At the very least, they've probably got a six-month stockpile of canned beans.

So, people unconsciously know that we will reach that point sooner or later and here instead of being canned beans, it is toilet papers for the sh... :-D

The one light spot in the way NZ is dealing with this is that in the explanation of self isolation, people are allowed out of their homes, allowed to walk in the park as long as they are keeping their distance from other people and avoiding crowds. Some encouragement to get some sunshine and fresh air.

Reading that I was struck by how bizarre this entire situation is. People have literally lost their reason. Sure, the ploy is a shocking appeal to their sense of mortality, but still. People are posting things like "an 80 year old man who lives near me just died of coronavirus". Last year, another 80 year old man near that same person "died of the flu" or it might even have been a coronavirus strain, and they never thought for a second that they should become alarmed about it and post about it on social media.

In terms of the book Transsurfing, the Coronavirus pendulum has achieved huge amounts of energy and it is increasing by the day. The stronger it gets, both from people swept up by the power of it and those fighting it, the harder it will be for people to think rationally. I think we can see evidence of that all around us now

I find the reaction of friends, family, business contacts etc. very interesting. Some are panicking, but most have some common sense left and shake their heads in disbelief at this absolute madness. BUT: almost nobody from my contacts can bring themselves to state the friggin obvious: THERE IS NOTHING THERE. I mean, nobody knows anyone who is sick, much less severely sick from this, or even died. There are no sick neighbors or friends or schoolmates or teachers. There are no sick people in town halls, make-shift hospitals, or even regular hospitals. Without the media hype, the whole thing simply wouldn't exist! But nobody can see this! Someone here mentioned hypnosis - indeed.

For France I saw this on the net:

Will see...
Like here. The army is already on the streets and will be on some big cities in Spain. Our island will have the army on the streets also Tenerife. Yuppy! beautiful men in uniforme! I adore a man in a uniform.

Can someone tell me why they want all the roads of the country void of cars? What a mystery! It is part of the laws of our State of Siege.

That is also an important point Wolfgang is making, basically saying that it is in general hard to determine if a virus or something else is actually responsible for a death especially if it is a „new virus“ where not enough more or less reliable statistical data is available based on sound studies (especially long term ones).
Yes, maybe they are saying is corona virus but maybe is another virus, mysterious one, a biological one. Remember the scientist that my sister was in his meeting who said: this is totally a new virus, not from nature and this scientists was really scared. My sister by the way told me today that nurses and doctors in the hospital (Montreal) were very worried. They never saw them so worried. And my sister was a little scare also.

Oh, those naughty, unruly French! 🇫🇷
The authorities are NOT happy about it. Expect mandatory total confinement pretty soon.

"Irresponsible"? In spite of the restrictions, French men and women continue (massively) to gather outside

There are dozens, hundreds even according to the photos, under the sun of this Sunday in March, going out for walks, strolling in the parks, going to the markets. All this would be a beautiful beginning of spring if on Saturday evening, the authorities had not asked everyone not to go out any more, in front of the coronavirus.

Édouard Philippe's appeal on Saturday evening was clear: in addition to closing down "non-essential" public places, the Prime Minister called on French men and women to assume their responsibilities, and to stop going out without good reason. "We must all together show more discipline in the application of these measures (...) We must avoid gathering as much as possible, limit friendly and family gatherings," he explained.

A message that fell on deaf ears? This Sunday, on social networks, we saw a lot of pictures of crowded open-air public places, such as the Aligre market in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, full of passers-by. The keyword #Irresponsible has developed to denounce this behaviour - at the same time as it was used to denounce the lack of firm action by the government until Saturday night.

Yet the measures are clear: outdoors and indoors, people must not gather in large numbers. The good weather on Sunday didn't help, and Parisian parks were also crowded, as these photos posted on Twitter in the afternoon by users show. These users were also reproached for going out... because otherwise, they would not have been able to take these pictures.

On the quays of the Canal Saint-Martin, the situation is even more ubuesque, with passers-by clustered on the banks of the canal, with a very close proximity. Same observation a few streets higher up, in the 19th arrondissement, near the Parc de la Villette. Tourist places, such as the Montmartre Hill or the pedestrian bank roads, were still very busy.

And elsewhere in France, what is the situation? It seems to depend on the cities: in Grenoble, for example, although all the parks have been closed by the city council, there are still green spaces without gates, and these too are well filled, noted Virginie Salanson, a journalist for France Bleu.

Conversely, in Perpignan, our reporter Maxence Lambrecq was able to see that the streets of the city were deserted - and under a sky grayer than the rest of the country.

French men and women who continue to go out despite the bans and the dangers of the coronavirus epidemic seem to have a strong desire to gather by the water's edge and in green spaces: in Bordeaux, the Garonne quays, a few dozen metres from the city centre, are full of passers-by, reported two journalists based in the south-western city. Some have even organised a "carnival" in the streets to defy basic safety rules.

The movement seems to have started as early as Saturday evening, when spontaneous gatherings, more massive than usual, were reported in several French cities. In Paris in the Bastille district, where some bars said they would only close their doors at 6am (despite a closure that came into effect at midnight), or in Dunkirk where carnival-goers took to the streets.

Also on social networks, many personalities also called their "followers" to be cautious, and warned that the next step could be a total confinement, and this time mandatory. For the time being, social distancing remains the only way to prevent the coronavirus epidemic from spreading too quickly.

Bon dieu, les Francais ce souviennent de leur motto, LIBERTÉ, EGALITÉ ET FRATERNITÉ, why don't they just accept our lies like everybody else.

This thread could have a subtitle: N_JOY THE SHOW.
Yesterday we went into the city, Montreal is an hour away. The roads were very quiet, and the city sleeping in broad daylight. But on the way into town, we saw an incredible fireball falling. Both of us went: Okay!!!!!.... Stilll have not seen a report anywhere about it. Maybe we are pushed inside cause there might be something nobody wants us to see? Hey... Just saying. (It was HUGE with a long tail, at precisely 14h36 over Québec. Certainly it could be seen from the U.S also.... N_JOY THE SHOW!

We are MAKING A POINT OF SPENDING MORE AND MORE TIME OUTSIDE now!
The perfect CRISIS deserves a few songs so I did one in french, hope you smile:

And the expected maneuver has been done by the Serbian leaders. First they forbid the gatherings of more than 50 people, and then they declared state of emergency, without parliament, which is what the constitution requires, with an excuse that there cannot be a gathering of parliament because of that new law that they made about gatherings!! That means that a few people in the government now have total control of the country!!!

Borders and schools are closed, public transport is reduced.

And all of this while we have 48 people who are sick with this virus, no deaths, and 2 persons in critical condition.

This "pandemic" may not have been planned, but it appears to have developed into the perfect storm. Strangely enough, I somehow think it's going to backfire on the PTB although probably not right away.
In this kind of enviroment you are forced to stock up on essentials.
For sure, even if you don't want to fan the flames so to speak, it is difficult not to feel a sort of survival instinct start kicking in. And, yes, the authorities and their ever increasing measures to get this "plague" contained is putting citizens more and more on edge. There's talk now that secondary schools may be closed for the rest of the school year - which will no doubt put pressure on higher ed to follow suit. Also, pronouncements that this illness and constraints may last till the end of the year as well! So it's easy to see how everyone is getting more and more alarmed. A barely lethal virus is putting the whole planet on lockdown! A perfect storm indeed! Rereading repeatedly what the Cs said in the December session goes a long way to keeping us all on an even keel as we navigate these very rough seas!
"The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" - Donald Rumsfeld talking crap about the WOT.
So, people unconsciously know that we will reach that point sooner or later and here instead of being canned beans, it is toilet papers for the sh... :-D
Priceless!

Have to add this: when looking up white iodine, came across the drop down People also ask questions that appear on google pages. Check this one regarding iodine:
According to a new study, its introduction in America in 1924 had an effect so profound that it raised the country's IQ. ... Weil finds that the population in iodine-deficient areas saw IQs rise by a full standard deviation, which is 15 points, after iodized salt was introduced.
No wonder steps were taken to make us all deficient! And how many doctors recommended iodine over pharmaceuticals or surgery?
Iodine is essential for your thyroid, but is used all over your body, in all of your organs especially your breasts and prostate. ... Iodine may help shrink uterine fibroids; one of the first conventional treatments for severe fibroids was to paint a woman's uterus with iodine.
Did I get that recommendation - no, hysterectomy was. I passed and switched doctors. Well, as we know, iodine and vit C are dirt cheap and actually work! I've read painting breasts with iodine works for breast cancer and I've been swabbing the white iodine on my throat every day - I have Hashimoto's so was wary of doing oral iodine protocol. So, yeah, how many of my own health conditions stemmed from iodine deficiency. I, like so many others, fell for the cut salt intake spewed for years, not that table salt was that great anyway. Probably the bromide switch with flour was the biggest factor in this. Yep - evil geniuses at work!

Ohio is closing all restaurants and bars (except for carryout and delivery) in the state. Boo-hoo to all the restaurant owners and their employees....

Illinois, Ohio closing all bars, restaurants in response to coronavirus

Now that huge increase in grocery and delivery pickup services I've noticed over the last year or so makes sense now. Financially, it never made sense to me because of the loss of revenue from impulse buying but that doesn't matter now. When it's time to restructure the economy it's time to restructure the economy no matter who suffers.

I have no fear of any coronavirus, but this fear virus that's being spread sure is interesting to watch.
