Two Irish citizens on ship test positive for Covid-19

Two Irish citizens who were on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship have tested positive for coronavirus and are being treated in hospital in Japan, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Almost seems like China herself is hyping tis corona stuff so to have excuse to blackmail West by halting for some time its manufacturing sector: mind you what could happen to your businesses if you do not comply (in some way or other), and some in USA could take advantage of this by blaming trump's strategy in so-called trade/whatever negotiations with PRC
 
The Russian govt has just issued a complete ban on all Chinese citizens entering Russia:

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on Tuesday evening prohibiting Chinese citizens from entering Russia for tourism, work and for private purposes. The new rules are effective from Thursday.

The decision is the strongest measure yet taken to prevent the entry and spread of the new coronavirus in Russia. Previously, Russian Railways suspended all passenger traffic to and from China, and flights have been heavily restricted. In addition, border crossings in the Far East have been closed. [...]

Additionally, from Wednesday Russia will temporarily stop issuing entry invitations to Chinese citizens for private and educational purposes.

There are currently no reported live cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Russia. Two infected Chinese citizens who were quarantined in the Tyumen and Transbaikalia regions have recovered and were discharged from hospital.

Whatever they know that they're not telling people, they sure don't seem to mind risking major economic upheaval and social panic.

If Russia takes this type of measures it means something. We all know how serious is Russia concerning health, security and protection of their population. Sooooo, something is behind all of this and we know nothing.
 
I keep on saying, watch what they do, not what they say!

The actions don't indicate business as usual, far from it. For Russia to ban all Chinese citizens speaks VOLUMES. Not even the US has gone this far - and we all know Trump would have no qualms banning them!

Russia's latest move says one thing - there is something the authorities know that we do not. I still can't think of what that could be other than it's nothing good!

Maybe we will only believe it if an authority loudly proclaims it.

This is not a good sign considering there are no cases in Russia so far. The whole thing is very strange. I wounder, Is it possible if this virus was targeted at Chinese people, that it could mutate into something worse and infect non Chinese and become more lethal??
 
I think the media frenzy necessitates precaution, because it creates confusion. In such a case, locking things down is prudent.

You can't hype things like this, and then wonder how come things aren't business as usual. So, in the event of nations taking tighter control of things concerning their safety and security, that would also serve as a test to see if its hype or not. And in any case a prudent measure. You know how 'fake news' is a common phrase now? This creates confusion, and measures against it are not to blame if we are to tolerate and accept it.

So tourists and businesses will have to stay at home for a while.

Russian authorities are being very sensible here.
In Eastern Siberia many of the ethnicities may have a genetic makeup that could be very close to the Chinese.

I have always the impression that what lurks behind all of this is something that has nothing to do with Coronavirus. But it is just a personal impression. That maybe all of this is in preparation of something different, a cataclysm that is coming, maybe. We are in the dark, anyway. We are like detectives that are in a tunnel, in the total obscurity. Maybe all of this is a test. The victims are the Chinese, unfortunately.

It will be interesting to see the next drills that will be realised the next month around the world. For example next month, here in my island, we will have a huge, enormous drill with the army, doctors, ambulances, firemen, boats, submarines, helicopters, etc. And some other countries will participate also. They will do the drill to "imagine" an earthquake and also a tsunami. But they will do the drill in the south of the island, far away of the city. Strange, right? Usually you do drills in a city, to see if the city is ready for that type of problem.

So is it really a drill to be prepared for an earthquake or something else? Who knows!

Another reason for Russia to be cautious... If this is deliberate, that means it is biological warfare. So, if this kind of warfare is going on, then what is used in China doesn't mean a different virus will be introduced on them.

So, narrowing the scope to Chinese is naive, if you believe it is deliberate. And that if one virus is released, others won't be released to confuse matters.We would hope it is a simple outbreak, but a deliberate outbreak should be addressed as if it is strategic and not natural, all the more reason to lock things down.

I always thought cruise ships were state assets, but in normal times they are for recreation. In emergencies they can serve as arks. And so when in this outbreak, cruise ships are involved to this extent, that strengthens the notion that they have a emergency civil defense purpose, and included in a drill of some sort.

Because airplanes seem more susceptible to spreading the virus. And they are largely ignored.
