Teeth pain mystery

Hi all!

For the whole day my teeth are fine, but when I go to bed, my right side of upper teeth set hurts to the point I feel I want to pull them out. Apparently from my observations it is linked to sinuses. Because If I lay down on left side, something in pain gradually disappears. If I return to lay down on my back, or turn to right side, pain gradually builds up. So, for an hour, I am rotating in the bed until the pain finally subsides and I can fall asleep. It's pretty annoying and such a waste of rest time. Has anyone dealt with anything like that ?

I went to a dentist initially thinking something is wrong with teeth. They took x-rays, and said that my teeth are located very close to sinuses, and there is any kind of sinus inflammation or irritation it affects teeth nerves, thus pain. There is nothing they say they can do, except to have me to take sinus medicine to make sure my sinuses are clear. (yikes, no thanks!). I seem to take care of sinuses well through drinking ACV and saline rinse, but no relief from this strange pre-bed time teeth pain.

I know it sounds weird, but If I to lay down without intention to sleep, my teeth seem to be fine. They only start to hurt when I am about to go to sleep, as if they are aware of my intentions. Pretty bizarre.

Re: Teeth pain mystery

Try knocking with your fingernail on the suspicious tooth, first on its bottom (directing the knock up, towards the root of the tooth and the sinuses), then on its side. If knocking sideways is OK but knocking on the bottom produces sharp pain, then sinuses are likely to be implicated.

Another reason may be TMJ syndrome (_http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporomandibular_joint_disorder). Any atypical facial pain is a sign that some joint inflammation or jaw muscle spasm may be present. May be as you are falling asleep you are clenching your teeth, that would produce pain. The article goes through it pretty well. Chiropractic adjustments, night guards, and infrared light treatment helped me in the past.

hope you figure this one out. :flowers:

Re: Teeth pain mystery

Hey agni,

Sorry to hear about that. In addition to what Hildegarda has said, have you considered putting DMSO cream on your cheek, on the area where it hurts and then washing it off? Maybe some magnesium oil will help as well, Take good care :hug2:

Re: Teeth pain mystery

I believe very much in clay. You can put green clay (you can find it in a natural shop) on your sinuses. Clay can reduce inflammation. Even you can put a little clay on your tooth. Clay will reduce pain. It works for many things, and one year I had a big sinuses problem: my doctor wanted to give me antibiotics. I ask to myself: what my grandmother would use if with the same problem? So: I put green clay on my sinuses, and also some drops of lemon in my nose. It worked fantastically. Maybe it can help you.

Re: Teeth pain mystery

Hi agni, I've had experience with teeth pain and the things that have helped the most for me have been diet, DMSO, and comfrey root. If your diet is low enough in carbs/sugars then that should prevent or reduce infection and inflammation. For more immediate relief DMSO or comfrey root can be used.

There is a thread on comfrey here.

This general topic has also been covered in other threads.

Here are some of them that can be found by searching the forum for teeth or tooth:

Re: Teeth pain mystery

I would try DMSO cream on the sinuses and get a steam vaporizer to run in the bedroom while sleeping. I get a lot of relief from sinus issues and general phlegm by taking N-Acetyl Cysteine two or three times a day.

Hi All !

Thank you for good recommendations friends. Will experiment.

Chordal Surgery in April

My chordal is perpendicular to my teeth, so can not leave, the doctor has to do a surgery to remove it, for April 30, the doctor tells me I have to take antibiotics for about ten days and an anti-inflammatory for 5 days. I've always avoided taking much antibiotic and I dont know if it could affect my immune system ? There something I could do to easy the pain and to elevate my Immune System?

Another issue is that they will use anesthesia to sleep my mouth but I worry if my system can affect too?

I will appreciate advices :)

Thanks

Re: Chordal Surgery in April

I have no idea what you are talking about... can you maybe explain it better?

Re: Chordal Surgery in April

"Cordal" is "wisdom tooth" in spanish. Zim is talking about getting his/her wisdom tooth/teeth removed and is concerned about the prescribed drugs, local anesthesia for the surgery, and the pain after the surgery.

Oh. Well, now it makes sense! I was imagining some kind of rope tying Zim's mouth to her teeth!

If you've seen the X-rays and it is clear that the teeth are in a bad configuration, you'll need to do this. I had mine done 40 years ago under general anaesthesia because they were so bad. They had to break my jaw to get the left lower one out. I suffered a lot. But several of my kids have had them removed with minimal problems. So, for some people, it's not so bad.

I would take probiotics after taking any antibiotics.

Re: Chordal Surgery in April

I also had my wisdom teeth removed (maybe 10 years ago?) and didn't have much trouble. The dentist said they had to come out because they (all 4) were impacted. They wanted to do 2 at a time but because I really don't like going to the dentist, I had all removed the same day. That went pretty smoothly with a general anesthetic and was told to just keep an eye out for any complications. Unfortunately, a nerve was accidentally nicked and I had to go back later at night to get that straightened out. In my opinion, the pain was minimal (with the exception of the repair of the nerve) but I may have a fairly high pain threshold so I'm not sure if that's the case for everyone. After that, everything was fine.

I agree with taking probiotics after the antibiotics. Let us know how it goes.

Re: Chordal Surgery in April

I hope you're one of the ones for whom it goes smoothly, Zim. :) Please, keep us updated.

Re: Chordal Surgery in April

I know what its like going to the dentist, I hated the jags more than anything, so painful! Also didn't like the idea of something puncturing my skin and going inside of me, pretty strange actually, felt like it was violating my sense of self.

Anyway, speedy recovery zim! :D
