Earthquakes around the world

Approximately 3 years and 11 months (or about 4 years) elapsed without an earthquake of magnitude 8.0 or greater in the world before the Kamchatka earthquake in 2025.

The August 12, 2021 earthquake occurred in the South Sandwich Islands region of the South Atlantic with M8.1

Strong responses can be expected toward Alaska and the West Coast. Also to Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, PNG, Fiji. Tonga, New Zealand. At least one ≥M7.0.

We’re under tsunami warning now. We’re less than a thousand yards from the water in Southern California. Helicopters are flying over our house every couple of minutes, so they’re really busy out there. They say it’s supposed to arrive at 1 am, so we’ll have to wait a few more hours.
