Earthquakes around the world

Wow I had never heard of him, and everything he said, locations that felt the earthquake, tsunami warnings etc all 100% correct.
Is he channelling info?

A new earthquake measuring 6.2 has struck 39km west of Kaikoura, New Zealand. This is one of the most powerful in a series of tremors that followed a 7.8 magnitude quake which struck the town, located some 180km northeast of Christchurch, on Sunday.

6.2 aftershock shakes New Zealand after more powerful earthquake kills at least 2

RT features some good videos on the damage NZ has suffered. And this short video below which shows two cows and a calf stranded on a small portion of land with deep trenches surrounding them. The only way off - other than a death-dive - is being air lifted by helicopter.

NZ earthquake lifted seabed ~2 meters out of the water
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=fe9_1479336710 (2:00 min.)

Incredible amount energy was released by the Kaiboura earthquake this week with ruptures along several fault lines. Some of the more dramatic scenes are seen along the coastline north of Kaikoura where some of the seabed have been lifted out of the ocean. Scientists estimate the energy release was equivalent to 400 atomic bombs (32 quadrillion joules) going off!

Some interesting articles up on Sott - first about the NZ earthquake:

The Kaikoura earthquake struck the South Island of New Zealand early in the morning on Nov. 14 local time, triggering landslides, tsunamis and hundreds of aftershocks. And thousands of people were stranded when earthquake detritus dammed a river. During the quake, bystanders captured images of mysterious earthquake lights painting the sky in eerie blue and green.

It turned out the temblor had dramatically changed the earth beneath.

And thousands of people were stranded when earthquake detritus dammed a river. During the quake, bystanders captured images of mysterious earthquake lights painting the sky in eerie blue and green.
Four faults along the coastline ruptured and extended out into the sea, while another two faults ruptured inland, closer to the epicenter of the quake, Litchfield said. Ground-based GPS stations also reveal major motion at these faults, she added.

"The whole coast appears to have been uplifted from Cape Campbell all the way south to Kaikoura," Litchfield told Live Science. "The ones right on the coast appear to have very large movements, almost 1 meter [3.3 feet] up and almost 3 m [10 feet] — by the looks of things — sideways as well."

Now geologists are scrambling to figure out what this means for earthquake risk in the region.

And two Oar fish found beached on the Australian coast - whether this is a sign of a coming quake, outgassing, or just natural death, one wonders [from 17.10.16]:
https://www.sott.net/article/334109-Locals-attempt-to-rescue-two-rare-oarfish-from-beach-stranding-in-Busselton-Western-Australia said:
"They are tropical and rare, apparently they do beach themselves quite regularly, people at the beach helped put it back in the ocean," she said

"One was still floating around under the jetty but we did not think it would survive."

Department of Fisheries senior officer Steve Embling said oarfish are a slow moving, deep water species, so when they if came to the shallows they would likely be close to death.

Mr Embling said scientists were unsure why oarfish came in close to shore but they turned up around the WA coast a couple of times a year.

SOLAR SECTOR BOUNDARY CROSSING: Later today, Nov. 20th, Earth is expected to cross through a fold in the heliospheric current sheet. This "solar sector boundary crossing" could cause geomagnetic unrest around the poles. Arctic sky watchers should be alert for Northern Lights. Realtime: photo gallery

RETURN OF THE BIG CORONAL HOLE: At the end of October, a hole in the sun's atmosphere lashed Earth's magnetic field with solar wind, sparking moderately-strong geomagnetic storms and almost a full week of Arctic auroras. News flash: It's back. The same "coronal hole" is turning toward Earth again. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory photographed the structure on Nov. 20th:

Coronal holes are regions in the sun's atmosphere where the magnetic field peels back and allows solar wind to escape. Since our last encounter with this hole in late October it has been transiting the farside of the sun, carried around by the sun's 27-day rotation. Now that it is back we can see that the hole is not quite as large as it was a month ago--but it is still impressive, covering almost 1/3rd of the visible solar disk.

NOAA forecasters expect the leading edge of the emerging solar wind stream to reach Earth on Nov. 22nd, bringing with it a chance of G1-class geomagnetic storms.

Just saw this reported, on CNN.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/21/asia/japan-earthquake/index.html?adkey=bn

(CNN) — A tsunami warning is in effect for Japan's Fukushima Prefecture after a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck off Honshu at 5:59 a.m. Tuesday (3:59 p.m. Monday ET), according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

A tsunami wave of 1-3 meters (3-10 feet) is possible, according to the agency. The US Geological Survey put the magnitude at 6.9, striking 37 kilometers (23 miles) east-southeast of Namie off the country's east coast at a depth of 11.4 kilometers (7 miles

To Aya and to any other's who may be living near the Fukushima Coast, if you are not in "a safe area" , I hope you will be able to make it - to higher ground?

Residents near the Fukushima coast are being urged to flee to high ground after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck the area early on Tuesday.

Tsunami Warning Issued After 7.3 Magnitude Earthquake in Japan (Video)
https://sputniknews.com/asia/201611221047688394-tsunami-warning-japan-earthquake/

The epicenter of the earthquake was approximately 67 kilometers northeast of Iwaki, according to the US Geological Survey. There have been several aftershocks reported across Japan.

The SMS Tsunami Warning labeled the event a "Seaquake" and explained that "only 'Seaquakes' have the power to trigger tsunamis. Small local tsunamis can be generated by Seaquakes with a magnitude 6.8 or larger. Large regional and ocean-wide tsunamis are generally associated to Seaquakes of magnitude 8.0 or above."

The Japanese Meteorological Center has warned that there is a risk of a tsunami at any moment. It was originally reported that a potential tsunami may be up to three meters, but the emergency channel broadcasted shortly after that it could be higher.

“Damage due to tsunami waves is expected.Evacuate immediately from coastal regions and riverside areas to a safer place such as high ground or an evacuation building. Tsunami waves are expected to hit repeatedly. Do not leave safe ground until the warning is lifted,” the warning said.

A short time ago, a tsunami was spotted approximately 20 kilometers off the coast of Fukushima.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a statement saying that there is currently no threat of a tsunami to the Hawaiian Islands. Monday's earthquake was significantly larger than the 6.6 offshore earthquake that lead to the nuclear disaster in March, 2011, when a tsunami struck the Fukushima-1 plant and caused the leakage of radioactive material into the surrounding area. It is widely considered to have been the largest nuclear accident since the Chernobyl catastrophe in 1986.

It looks like Sputnik made a mistake here. The 2011 earthquake was magnitude 9.1 - way stronger than today's.

You're absolutely right, Windmill Knight! Sorry - that I missed that important detail.

On March 11, 2011, a magnitude-9 earthquake shook northeastern Japan, unleashing a savage tsunami.

The effects of the great earthquake were felt around the world, from Norway's fjords to Antarctica's ice sheet. Tsunami debris continues to wash up on North American beaches two years later.
