I'm about 60 miles away, and felt that one as it happened. Third earthquake in the UK I've experienced in my lifetime, so I knew what it was.
Started as a rumble and a bang, and the house felt like it moved sideways. Shook the house like a truck passing on a bumpy road at high speed.

this is becoming too common :(, another earthquake was felt in Mexico City just minutes ago

The PNG Today media outlet reported that the quake had caused massive landslides and cut off electricity in the country's Western Highlands province.

The government also sent an expert team to the Southern Highlands to assess the damage caused by the quake there, according to PNG Today.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake was located 89 kilometers (55 miles) south-west of Porgera at the depth of 35 kilometers.

Update:

More than 30 people are feared dead in a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that shook Papua New Guinea on Monday, local media outlets reported.

More than 30 deaths have been reported, but the information has not been confirmed yet, Post Courier news outlet reported Tuesday, citing Hela Provincial Administrator William Bando.

Bando noted that the earthquake led to the appearance of landslides and sinkholes.

Over 300 people have been reportedly injured. Numerous properties have suffered damage and the electricity has been cut off in some of the affected areas. According to the United States Geological Survey, the epicenter of the quake was located 89 kilometers (55 miles) south-west of Porgera at the depth of 35 kilometers.

Papua New Guinea is a part of the so-called "Ring of Fire" — a string of volcanoes encircling the Pacific Ocean. It is a seismically active zone and thus it regularly suffers from earthquakes.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 started in an area 44 kilometers off the coast of Airbuaya, Indonesia, the US Geological Survey said in a statement on Monday.

"[Magnitude] 6.1 — 44km NE of Airbuaya, Indonesia," the statement said.

The quake had a depth of 11.9 kilometers and its epicenter Seram Sea around 194 kilometres northwest of Ambon, capital of Maluku province, according to the report.

No tsunami warning was issued following the tremors. There were also no reports of casualties or damage.

Two powerful earthquakes with some 6.0 magnitude hit Papua New Guinea on Monday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

According to the USGS, the first quake with a 5.8-magnitude was registered at 14:33 GMT on Sunday (00:33 on Monday local time), with the epicenter located some 85 kilometers (53 miles) to the southwest of the town of Porgera at the depth of six kilometers.

Another tremor with a 6.0-magnitude occurred five hours later 112 kilometers to the southwest of Porgera. The epicenter was located at the depth of 10 kilometers.

There has been no information on victims or damages caused by the tremors.

Papua New Guinea is located in a seismically active zone known as the Ring of Fire and regularly suffer from powerful earthquakes.

In late February, the country was hit by the 7.5-magnitude earthquake with dozens of people having been killed.

Quake death toll at 55 as aftershock hits Papua New Guinea Wednesday 7 March 2018
http://www.arabnews.com/node/1260836/world

At least 55 people have been confirmed dead and authorities fear the toll could exceed 100 from last week’s powerful earthquake in Papua New Guinea, as survivors faced more shaking early Wednesday from the strongest aftershock so far.

Southern Highlands Governor William Powi told The Associated Press that people were feeling traumatized from the disaster and ongoing aftershocks. The latest large temblor was a magnitude 6.7 quake that struck just after midnight local time, the strongest shake since last Monday’s deadly magnitude 7.5 quake that destroyed homes, triggered landslides and halted work at four oil and gas fields.

The central region where the quake struck is remote and undeveloped, and assessments about the scale of the damage and injuries have been slow to filter out. Powi said he didn’t know if the latest aftershock had caused more damage or injuries, but he said it had added to the distress people were feeling.

“It is beyond the capacity of the provincial government to cope with the magnitude of destruction and devastation,” Powi said. “Our people are traumatized and finding it difficult to cope.”
He said provincial authorities were trying to prioritize the greatest needs by getting people with severe injuries to medical centers and providing water and medicine. He said help from abroad and from local aid agencies was slowly coming in.

“It’s a mammoth task. Most of the feeder roads are washed away or covered with landslips,” he said. “People’s livelihoods are devastated, their personal property is gone.”
Powi said 39 people had died in his province after families had been crushed by their collapsing homes or buried by landslides during last week’s earthquake. He said death reports were still coming in from remote places, and he feared the death toll would rise to over 100.

A spokeswoman at the National Disaster Center said the official death toll is currently estimated at between 55 and 75 although they don’t yet have firm numbers.

The US Geological Survey said Wednesday’s quake was centered 112 kilometers (70 miles) southwest of Porgera at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles). Ten aftershocks in the hours since ranged between magnitude 4.7 and magnitude 5.2.

Papua New Guinea is home to 7 million people on the eastern half of the island of New Guinea, to the east of Indonesia. It sits on the Pacific’s “Ring of Fire,” the arc of seismic faults around the Pacific Ocean where most of the world’s earthquakes and volcanic activity occur.

A major 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit Indonesia on Thursday, data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) showed.

Magnitude 5.7 Quake Hits Indonesia – US Geological Survey 08.03.2018
https://sputniknews.com/asia/201803081062335178-quake-indonesia-survey/

According to the USGS, the quake was registered at 03:51 GMT, with the epicenter located some 221 kilometers (137 miles) to the east of the settlement of Amahai in the Maluku province, at a depth of 7.9 kilometers (4.9 miles).

There has been no information about victims or damage caused by the tremor.

Was reading about the latest earthquake in Mexico at SOTT https://es.sott.net/article/58795-Sismo-de-5-0-se-siente-en-Mexico, but/and there were another couple yesterday 19th, and again with the 19th!!!! -ever since Windmill mentioned it, cannot avoid to think about it :P smaller ones, but many and in not common places ...

I can't wrap my head around the fact that this happened on the anniversary of the deadly earthquake of '85. What are the odds? 1 in 365. Like the one at the beginning of this month, today there was an earthquake alert before the actual quake - that day because someone made a mistake, apparently, and today because there was a drill on the anniversary of '85. Is the mass unconscious of that country sending a message to itself?

I think I have ... a kind of postraumatic syntome thanks to the sound of the seismic alarm, that usually sound in Mexico City to 6+ earthquakes, and since September 17th, 2017, at least in Mexico City had been 5 earthquakes above 6, because at the beginning it sounds similar to the ones of some police patrol, some ambulances, that I hear daily more than 3 times per day, I guess that the syntome (being in an instant quite alert to the sound and at the same time, my heart pounding)... and usually the pounding lessen with some pipe breaths .. anyways.

A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck the Papua New Guinean island of New Britain on Saturday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

Papua New Guinea Hit by 6.3-Magnitude Earthquake - US Geological Survey 24.03.2018
https://sputniknews.com/asia/201803241062862488-guinea-earthquake-survey/

According to the USGS, the quake was registered at 11:23 GMT, with the epicenter located some 141 kilometers (over 87 miles) to the east of the town of Kimbe, at a depth of 67.8 kilometers.

There has been no information on victims or damage caused by the tremor.

Papua New Guinea is located in a seismically active zone known as the Ring of Fire and regularly suffer from powerful earthquakes. In late February, the country was hit by the 7.5-magnitude earthquake with dozens of people having been killed. Several powerful tremors were also registered earlier in March.

I think you are right MusicMan those 750km deep ones add to the magnitude according to dutchsinse by 1.5 bringing a 5.1 up to 6.6. They don't just go away but spread through the plates resulting in lower magnitude ones much farther away.
