Noticeable earthquake Mb 3.7 shook northern Germany
- Natural gas extraction possibly to blame for the quake

Date 03/25/2024 | Time: 11:07:46 UTC | Location: 52,881 ; 8,763 | Depth: 9 km | Mb 3.7

This morning a noticeable earthquake of magnitude 3.7 occurred in Lower Saxony. While the hypocenter was located at a depth of 9 kilometers, the epicenter was located 5 kilometers southwest of Syke, where about 24,200 people live. This data comes from the EMSC. The GFZ indicates a magnitude of 3.5 and an earthquake focus at a depth of 5 kilometers.

Syke is located in the district of Diepholz, south of the Hanseatic city of Bremen, where the earthquake was also felt. Witnesses from Syke reported that there was a loud bang. Then the houses shook. In fact, there is said to have been slight damage to buildings.

Natural gas is extracted in the region and the "Klosterseelte/Kirchseelte/Ortholz" extraction field is located there. The gas extraction company is ExonMobil. Although slight earthquakes often occur in connection with natural gas extraction, they are usually too weak to be noticeable. Today's earthquake was the strongest for several years.

Earthquakes can occur for various reasons in connection with natural gas extraction. In this case, it is very likely that the extraction of the gas has created tension underground, which has been released in the earthquake. The extraction of the gas creates pressure differences in the rocks of the gas field, which can lead to sudden underground degassing that triggers movements in the rock layers. The loud bang that local residents claim to have heard in connection with the earthquake could be an indication of this.

Earthquakes are particularly common in natural gas and oil extraction when fluids are injected into the ground to increase the extraction pressure. This is particularly the case with controversial fracking. This extraction method is considered particularly harmful to the environment and is banned in Germany.

END OF ARTICLE

Question one • How long will the ban against (toxic) fracking in Germany remain.
Question two • Do we really know, if this isn't already done (perhaps in a small scale to begin with) ?

WORLDWIDE EARTHQUAKE REPORT MARCH 28_2024

Low levels of seismic activity occurred in the past 24 hours. Seismic activity continues in South America. On March 27th Brazil recorded an M5.0 earthquake and today Peru recorded an M5.1 while Venezuela an M4.9. Energy in the region is becoming more concentrated. For Analyst Jesús Ramos, M5.0 and in the worst case M6+ earthquakes could be expected for the region between Ecuador, Peru and Colombia.

M5.7 quake, Greece:

Greece rocked by 5.7 magnitude earthquake off coast of Kalamata as shaking felt in holiday hotspots Athens & Crete

There is no reports of injuries or damage as of yet.

The huge earth tremor has been felt in the capital and the southern island of Crete - 214 miles away.

The epicentre of the quake was 75 miles southwest of the city of Patras, the Athens Geodynamic Institute reported.

The earthquake originated beneath the seabed at 10.5 miles depth near the Strofades island.

There are fears that the tremor would cause a tsunami as authorities evaluate the risks.

[no tsunami warning was issued]

Efthymios Lekkas, president of the Earthquake Planning and Protection Organization, told state TV ERT: " The earthquake should be of great concern because it has been recorded in a marine area with a large focal depth."

Greece is located in a seismically active zone where quakes are common - but most go unnoticed with no damage or injuries.

Also of note, around that time there was a small quake in Bulgaria:

In the morning of Friday March 29th, 2024, a shallow and significant Magnitude 5.8 earthquake hit in the Ionian Sea 40 kilometer from Pýrgos, Greece. USGS issued a Green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses. Acoording to the Agency roughly 2 million were exposed to shaking.

The M5.8 earthquake struck within proximity of multiple countries. Greece and Albania are both within 300km distance of its epicenter. The closest significant population center near the earthquake is Pýrgos in West Greece, located 40 kilometer. After this earthquake struck, 8 smaller aftershocks occurred, being a M3.6 the strongest. The strongest-ever (since 1900) recorded quake in this area measured magnitude 7.8. It had occurred 121 years ago.

WORLDWIDE EARTHQUAKE REPORT MARCH 31_2024

Moderate levels of seismic activity occurred in the past 24 hours. A strong magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred in the South Pacific Ocean 489 km from Antarctica. No aftershocks have been recorded so far. The strongest-ever (since 1900) recorded quake in this area measured magnitude 6.4. It had occurred 29 years ago.

A strong and unusual magnitude 4.9 earthquake occurred in the Northwest Passage near Amund Ringnes island, Canada. According to Volcanodiscovery data:
Strongest in 124 years
The earthquake was the strongest to hit this part of Canada since at least the beginning of the previous century (our records start in 1900). No other quake of equal or greater strength had occurred near the present epicenter since then.

New atmospheric fluctuation recorded by SSGEOS on March 31
The SSGEOS measures electric charge in the atmosphere near sea level to detect anomalies that may be seismic related. Anomalies are linked with Earth's axis-rotation and the plane of the ecliptic, which is the thin red line drawn over the globe. Potential regions are marked with purple and are approximations.

It seems that the first event of this atmospheric fluctuation happened in Tajikistan with M5.0, let's wait and see how the events develop.

The total number of earthquakes recorded worldwide in the last 24 hours has increased to 877 which is within the normal range of activity.

According to Volcano earthquake report, volcano earthquake swarm occurred in:

Moderate levels of seismic activity occurred in the past 24 hours. National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) issued an alert for a M6.5 earthquake later updated to M5.9 with epicenter 7.7 km away from Kuji (pop. 34,400), Iwate, Japan. The quake had a moderate depth of 73 km USGS issued a Green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses. For this earthquake, 8 aftershocks have been detected so far. The strongest was a magnitude 3.4 quake that hit 37 minutes after the mainshock.

The strongest-ever (since 1900) recorded quake in this area measured magnitude 9.1. It had occurred 13 years ago earlier, on Friday, Mar 11, 2011.

The earthquake occurred 11 hours after the Mercury-Sun-Saturn planetary geometry.

EARTHQUAKE FORECAST UPDATED APRIL 02_2024

A cluster of planetary conjunctions on 3 April can result in increased seismic activity, potentially reaching high 6 to 7 magnitude around 4-5 April. A combination of planetary and lunar conjunctions from 5 to 7 April will likely result in stronger tremors and more seismic unrest overall throughout the week. SSGEOS
