Added: I do not know if it is not some kind of Fake News as I cannot find anything if not only the picture from Twitter...
Again, Wait & See.

Added again: I found this: They say that volcano erupted at the same time than earthquake...
The volcano burst into life at the same time the earthquake battered cities in Mexico – sending a large plume of smoke into the sky.

A church collapsed during mass, killing 15 people, in Atzitzihuacan on the slopes of the volcano, Puebla Governor Jose Antonio Gali said.

At least 248 people – including 22 children – have were killed during the earthquake, and it appears to have sparked activity at the volcano Popocatepetl.

The mountain is known to be very active and previously had a signficant eruption on August 22, sending a volcanic plume some 4km into the air.

Pictures posted on social media appear to show smoke rising from the peak of the 5,426m tall mountain.

Dutch man survives Mexico earthquake: "Felt like building was lifted and put down again"

By Janene Pieters on September 20, 2017 - 09:26

Dutch physiotherapist Jaime Willems was working in a hospital in the Mexican city of Puebla when a powerful earthquake hit on Tuesday, local time. The earthquake measured 7.1 on the Richter scale and already claimed the lives of 224 people. "It felt like the building was lifted and put down again twenty times in a row", Willems said to RTL Nieuws.

When the earthquake shook the hospital on its foundations, panic broke out. "Some of the people wanted to get outside as quickly as possible, others prayed on the steps. I prefer to rely on my legs rather than God in such a situation, so I - with my patient - went outside as quickly ass possible", he said to the broadcaster.

Willems since returned home to his wife and kids. The neighborhood where they live, did not sustain significant damage. The situation in the Puebla city center is much worse, with many collapsed buildings. "It is sad, but such disasters always affects the poorer people", Willems said. "I have not been in the center yet, it's chaos and also unsafe. The first hour after the earthquake, there were a lot of armed robberies because the police were absent."

Tuesday was the 32nd anniversary of a major earthquake in Mexico City, in which 10 thousand people were killed. A commemoration of that anniversary was held just two hours before this earthquake hit, according to RTL. The epicenter of the earthquake was only 120 kilometers southeast of Mexico city, in the state of Puebla.

The death count currently stands at 224, though this number is expected to increase. Many buildings collapsed and people could be lying under the ruins. According to television channel Televisia, eight school children and one teacher were killed by the earthquake in Mexico City. Eleven kids are still missing.

At least 3.8 million people are currently without power.

According to Willems, this is not the first, and probably not the last, earthquake he's lived through in Mexico. "If you live here, you know that you may face it", he said to the broadcaster. "Nothing can be done about it."

A strong earthquake struck off the coast of Japan early today but does not pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The preliminary magnitude 6.1 temblor hit at 6:37 a.m. Hawaii time 208 miles east of Sendai at a depth of 6.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue any warnings, watches or advisories following the quake.

I skyped my cousin over there, and she is OK, but she said she felt the house rocking and rolling! They get so many quakes there they get kind of blase about it all. She is right on the beach at Otaki, so I worry about tsunamis being generated there.

Israeli military, search and rescue organization set out to help Mexico recover
September 20, 2017 12:30
_http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Israeli-trained-volunteers-aid-rescue-efforts-following-Mexico-earthquake-505602
In the aftermath of the lethal 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Mexico on Tuesday, Israel is extending its support to its Latin American neighbor and sending both an IDF as well as a Mexico-based ZAKA team (Israel's primary rescue and recovery volunteer organization) to assist victims of the disaster.

The IDF aid team set out from the Nevatim airbase on Wednesday aboard a "Re'em" IAF aircraft, and among it are 70 soldiers and officers in mandatory and reserve duty, hailing from both the Israel Air Force and the Home Front Command.

Heading the delegation is Col. (Res.) Dudi Mizrahi, Commander of the National Search and Rescue Unit in the army's Home Front Command. Some other members of the team are engineering experts, who according to the IDF are slated to help Mexico evaluate the damage caused in the disaster zone and determine which infrastructure is safe to use.

Additionally, search and rescue troops were sent on the mission to assist.

Volunteers from ZAKA Mexico, an offshoot of the Israel-based organization, are also assisting in the search, rescue and recovery efforts.

“It is impossible to describe the scope of the disaster. Millions of people are without power, there is great confusion and distress,"
ZAKA Mexico commander Marcus Cain stated.

The earthquake also caused major structural damage, including the collapse of a school in Mexico City that killed at least 22 children and two adults.

ZAKA Mexico volunteers are currently involved in the search and rescue of a Jewish resident trapped in another building collapse, ZAKA International Rescue Unit Chief Officer Mati Goldstein confirmed.

The threat of building collapse is causing worries for members of the Mexican-Jewish community ahead of the high holidays when many will attend religious services.

“Engineers have been dispatched to local synagogues to ensure that Rosh Hashana services can safely take place,"
ZAKA Mexico volunteer Benjamin Shechnazi said.

Since September 2016, ZAKA has trained 70 Mexico City-based volunteers. All volunteers, working in two teams of 35, are on call to assist earthquake victims.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Hotovely on Wednesday sent condolences to the Mexican people and encouragement to Israeli support teams assisting in the rescue operations.

A statement by the Prime Minister's Office said Israel's ambassador to Mexico was already in talks with local authorities over where to send aid.

The earthquake hit 120 kilometers south of Mexico City and has killed at least 217 people, according to figures from Mexico's Civil Protection Agency. Tuesday's quake is the second to hit Mexico in just two weeks' time. On September 7, a magnitude 8.1 quake killed at least 90 people when it struck the country's southern coast.

In late 2004 and early 2005, members of ZAKA provided assistance in Thailand, Sri Lanka, India and Indonesia in the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. Forensic teams reportedly dubbed the group "the team that sleeps with the dead" because they toiled nearly 24 hours a day at Buddhist pagodas in Thailand that had been transformed into morgues to identify those who died in the tsunami. The experience of ZAKA members, who reportedly see 38 bodies a week on average in Israel, helped the Israeli forensic team to identify corpses faster than many of the other forensic teams that operated in Thailand in the aftermath of the disaster, which placed them in high demand with grieving families. [2]

In February 2007, ZAKA sent a 10-person search and rescue team, consisting primarily of rescue divers, to Paris to search for a missing Israeli Defense official. The mission was funded by the Defense Ministry at an expected cost of $80,000. [3]

In November 2008, ZAKA volunteers went to Mumbai, India following terrorist attacks that included a Jewish center among its targets.

Following the 2010 Haiti earthquake, a six-man ZAKA International Search and Rescue Unit delegation arrived in Haiti to assist with search and recovery efforts. Working with the Mexican military delegation and Jewish volunteers from Mexico, eight students trapped under the rubble of the collapsed eight-storey Port-au-Prince University building were rescued on the first day after their arrival.[5][6][7]

Teams of ZAKA volunteers were sent to Japan in March 2011 to assist in search-and-rescue after the devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami.[8]

A ZAKA team went out with an Israeli mission to Nepal in late April 2015 to help search for casualties in the aftermath of the earthquake and subsequent avalanches.[9]

Update:

Israel sends 70 Home Front Command Soldiers to Mexico in quake aftermath

_http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Israel-sends-70-Home-Front-Command-Soldiers-to-Mexico-in-quake-aftermath-505727
The delegation's mission is to assist in the mapping and scanning buildings that were damaged in the quake
Israeli rescuers are taking part in the search for the survivors of a deadly earthquake that struck Mexico Tuesday, killing nearly 300 people and destroying dozens of buildings in the capital city and surrounding states.

The delegation of 71 soldiers and officers, mostly reservists in the IDF’s Home Front Command and the Israel Air Force, is headed by Col.(res.) Dudi Mizrahi, Commander of the National Search and Rescue Unit in the Home Front Command.

Mizrachi briefed Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman Friday on the activities of the delegation, explaining that they have worked on a number of large sites — including offices and a school — since they arrived in the devastated city with cutting edge technology to aid in the efforts.

Nicknamed "Kol Shofar Lamerhak" ("The sound of the Shofar carries afar"), the delegation landed Thursday. Its mission: to assist in the mapping and scanning of buildings damaged by the quake to determine whether they are at risk of collapse.

“We left our homes ahead of the holiday (of Rosh Hashana) but priority is always given to such a mission — to save lives, even if it is thousands of kilometers from home,” Mizrachi said. “It is a great honor for us to be part of this effort."

The delegation, which left Israel Wednesday, is made up of mostly structural engineers. Mexican authorities made it clear they did not need search and rescue or medical forces.

In November, Israel’s emergency medical response team was recognized by the United Nations as the “number one in the world,” and classified as its first “Type 3” field hospital.

By receiving the Type 3 classification, Israeli teams will be the first on the scene of any disaster. Israel was the first foreign emergency medical team to receive such a classification, which has a strict set of criteria created by the World Health Organization (WHO) to classify foreign medical teams during sudden disasters.

The WHO’s classification system describes a Type 3 medical team as having “at least 2 operating tables in two separate rooms within the theater area, at least 40 inpatient beds (20 per table) and have the capability to treat 15 major or 30 minor surgical cases a day.”

Israel’s field hospitals, which can be set up in under 12 hours, can hold 86 inpatient beds and 4 operating rooms.

Israel has often aided countries struck by natural disasters, sending teams from the IDF Medical Corps and Home Front Command to provide search and rescue and medical aid in field hospitals in countries such Haiti, the Philippines, Japan, Turkey and Nepal.

Non-military teams, including ZAKA and iAID, have also joined in the rescue efforts in Mexico, working with the IDF delegation and local officials.

"iAID is in touch with its local partners and UN officials who are monitoring the current crisis on the ground,” said Shachar Zahavi, the founding director of the iAID, which sent 15 members of its international emergency response team to Mexico.

The IDF delegation is slated to return to Israel on September 29 ahead of the Yom Kippur holiday.

Tuesday’s tragedy comes two weeks after an 8.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the southern Pacific coast of Mexico leaving close to 100 dead in the states of Oaxaca and Chiapas. The quake, which rattled the capital of Mexico city as well as the states of Morelos, Puebla Guerrero and Oaxaca, struck on the anniversary of the deadly 1985 quake that killed at least 5,000 people just hours after the country drilled on earthquake preparedness.

Earthquake warning sirens are currently sounding in Mexico City while the head of the city government has advised that emergency protocols have been activated following a 6.4 temblor in the city of Ixtepec in the southern state of Oaxaca.

Initial reports from the Mexican Seismological authority said the quake struck at 07:53 am local time at a depth of 10 kilometers with an epicenter approximately 12 km north of the City of Ixtepec. This is around 530km south of Mexico City.

In an update, the service downgraded it to a 6.1 magnitude earthquake, placing its epicenter seven kilometers west of the town of Union Hidalgo in Oaxaca at a depth of 75km.

So far there have been no reports of injuries, fatalities or damage, reports news outlet 24 Horas.

Earlier Saturday, Oaxaca registered at least four earthquakes in the early hours, ranging between a magnitude of 4.1 and 5.8 on the Richter scale.

A total of three earthquakes off the coast of Paredon were recorded by the USGS, at depths ranging from 74.2km to 10km.

Mexico's National Seismological Service recorded a total of four earthquakes in as many hours in the Gulf of Tehuantepec off the coast of states Chiapas and Oaxaca.

Mexico lies at the meeting point of three major tectonic plates, and it is therefore prone to multiple earthquakes within a short time, as have occurred in recent weeks.

I think this is erroneous reporting by Sputnik. There appears to have been 2 quakes - the first off the coast and the other on land about 2 hours apart rather than one event with the magnitude later changed.

After I Posted, I noticed C.A. had also Posted and wasn't sure of the data (2 separate quakes verses mislabeling one)? So far, no retraction or correction from Sputnik but the data from both you and C.A. match - so Sputnik got their facts and figures wrong. Thanks for picking that error up.

Also - there seems to be some speculation, if this is a real earthquake or something caused by North Korea's military?

China earthquake center reports that a 3.4 magnitude earthquake hit the territory of North Korea. Seismologists say the quake probably caused by an explosion.

A 3.4-magnitude earthquake hit the northeastern part of North Korea, China's Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) said Saturday.

However, South Korea's weather agency claimed that the nature of the quake more likely of a natural origin.

According to the agency's data, the quake hit the Kilju area in North Hamgyong Province.
