Éiriú-Eolas - Breathing Program

Whilst the experience made me feel 'good' in the most rudimentary sense, more importantly I now feel motivated and for some reason competent to do whatever it takes to get myself completely well via research/diet/treatment. I think it's going to be a long road but I now feel truly ready and willing to take it on. All I can say is thank goodness for EE and Prayer of the Soul!

Wow Pai, that sounds great - even miraculous! I'm really happy for you. Praying does help, yes?

I have to echo Windmill KNight, Wow Pai! :wow: That's down right astonishing. I am very happy for you. It seems something has shifted for you. This is really exciting.

Would you mind retelling this experience over at the Eiru Eolas forum?

That is awesome Pai. There is nothing better than feeling like you are up for the challenges ahead. I'm excited for you! :D

Checking in again. :D While I've not been able to do the whole program in a while, today during an MRI procedure Pipe breathing got me through the 90 minutes without a migraine, or even a mild headache. That's quite a good result! If you've ever had an MRI of your head and neck, its a very loud 90 minutes feeling like your head is stuck in a concrete pipe. It wears on me to the point I just go to sleep or zone out. Every time it felt like my muscles would seize up, the breathing just smoothed it out.

Its been about 2 and a half weeks since going off dairy, wheat, legumes and nightshades. Its been rough in terms of pain and weird detox reactions (paprika seems to be in EVERYTHING). If the MRI is clear of new lesions or active old lesions, then I won't have to face a round of intravenous steroids. The thinking is that the dental work I had done in March is setting off a flare, or I've got an infection somewhere that's doing damage. I think this is backwards, find the infection, then deal with the flare up....but I've learned from experience that the Neurologist can get Hubby's backing real fast if he thinks my brain is going to get more holes in it. I did get a cd copy of the images, which should be fun to look through. (Hubby is still thinking of making a couple of screen savers  )

Things are very slow, but appear to be getting better as long as I'm not pushing too hard. Here's hoping my brain isn't lit up like a Christmas tree, I don't think steroid psychosis would be a good thing so soon.

That's excellent Pai!!

I hope things turn out to be ok for you Gimpy....its always good to know what situations pipe-breathing is good for! :flowers:

Indeed Windmill Knight, the power of prayer! The ironic thing is that when the program was first put on line I was incredibly cynical about the POTS or anything to do with prayer, having rejected my catholic upbringing many years ago. I'm ashamed to say that even after embarking on the full program for some weeks, I probably still regarded the prayer as somewhat of an appendage to the three stage breathing. How wrong could I be hey? :-[

Hi Nienna, thanks, yes, I'll put it over at the EE forum sometime today

Hi Gimpy

I hope this all goes well for you. I have actually been referred by a neurologist for a brain scan in a few months myself. I get claustraphobic very easily and was thinking I would need the old pipe breathing to get through it although I'm told mine will only last for about 20 minutes.

I'm excited to find out if they find anything in there. And I mean anything at all! :P

Hello Pai :D.

If you get claustrophobic, there are open MRI machines that don't enclose you. Otherwise the techs will give you a sedative. When you go in to register for the MRI, be sure to ask if you can have a cd of the images, and remind the techs when you go back to have it. It only takes about 10 minutes after you're done to get one done up to take home. If you have to have images with a contrast, drink lots of water when you get home to help flush it out of your system, and take lots of vitamin C. It will help get it out of your body. (I took about 2000 mg of buffered C and it helped a lot.)

Just some info if you've never had one done before. Once my head is in the block to keep it still, and I'm going into the machine, that's when I start the Pipe breathing. ;) Its really loud, but the techs will give you ear plugs and ear phones to help you, and they can talk to you through those.

Hope everything goes ok!

I've had "open" MRIs but the top of it still came right up over my face and I had to keep my eyes closed the whole time cause i was going to freak out (severe clastrophobia). But they told me I wasn't to move a muscle so I don't think I could do pipe breathing while remaining motionless.

Thanks guys

Interesting to hear some experiences first hand. I'd like to avoid being sedated as I think they use Benzodiazepines (valium) which I had once before when I was very ill abroad and didn't like it at all. I didn't realise there were completly closed MRI's, yikes, I think it'll have to be an open one for me. I think pipe breathing is the way forward with this one!

My experiences of the E-E Breathing programme this week are similar to previous weeks – wet eyes and micro zoning out during PotS.

What I have noticed as different; is that when I sit down and rest and relax, tears well up in my eyes. And, when I first wake up in the night my eyes are full of tears (although this has been happening for some weeks now).

My posts here will be out of synch with those on the E-E forum as I add historical posts there.

I've recently re-ordered a copy and noticed that the EE music track is not there as in my first DVD/CD set. The first order was the special edition though while this one is the 'normal' edition, so is the music track to be found in there only?

Sorry for this late reply, Dantem. That's normal. The music track is only in the special edition (not enough room in the other one).

Please, everyone, try to post all your updates on the EE forum; like Laura asked twice. Very few of you have been doing so.

We have recently been getting quite a few e-mails from people starting the program, and have been inviting them to join the forum. If they see it as being quite inactive, they won't dare to join. So we need all you input! You can copy and paste old posts of yours, just editing if necessary depending on whether they contain comments about hyperdimensional stuff or the Cs (remember that we don't want to sound like weirdos in that forum ;))

With your experience with EE, you would be doing a great service helping people there. :D

Thank you!

I have resumed wih EE for two weeks now, and my experiences have not changed so much except for some longer zoning out, especially during the entire POTS section and tears coming up. But the big change is in my everyda&y life. The word to describe it is peace. I feel in peace with everything. No desire to change anything outside me, accepting nature as it is, trying to get the best from any situation or interaction. It seems like I have a better understanding of people and the environment around me. I only hope it's not the predator mind trying to shut me down by feeding me with this impression of peace. Vigilance is high now.

When I do the breathing, I have my mouth half open when the techs wheel me inside the machine. ;) You can move your belly in and out as needed to breath, and keep your head and mouth still this way. Another way to do this, if you're unsure about twitching, is to close your teeth together and have your lips parted slightly. If you've trained as a singer, its possible to open the throat like biting an apple to get the vagus nerve stimulation this way. If you practice this before your MRI Pai, it can help you a lot getting through it. Maybe bring a sleepers blindfold or just keep your eyes shut will help too.

It might be something to practice for everyone, just to get used to opening the throat?

Hi Gertrudes, I experienced something very similar to the "ball type feeling" in my chest, just behind the bottom of my sternum during the round breathing. It became intense enough to cause great discomfort and restrict my breathing, especially during the fast part. The pain subsided during POTS, though. I think what you say about the feeling being there constantly before in a milder form reflects my own experience of it (in fact, I'm feeling it right now as I write this). Maybe this is something I will be dealing with soon? Thanks for posting about it.

Hi Rhys, that's interesting.
Your experience does seem similar to mine, I remember feeling it quite intensively whenever I would think about it, such as what you described when writing your post.

Well, what I can say for myself is that the "ball type feeling" began to subside after it got so strong that I went through an emotional turmoil. This led me to take a couple of major decisions. From then on I can't say that I have been feeling calmer or more relaxed, but quite the opposite. I've been progressively being submerged in emotions, as if they are coming from the bone marrow onto the surface of my skin. And It doesn't seem that this is going to end any soon.

You might go through something entirely different, it will be interesting to see how your experience will unfold :)
